I suppose he's got nothing to lose waiting for the Euros - unless e gets a really bad injury, which is the only downside for him in waiting until after the Euros.
If he plays well then other clubs will be interested.
If he does not play well and other clubs are not so interested, he'll sign a contract extension with Stoke. This time SCFC might be able to dictate terms more in their favour etc.
So cat & mouse and you can't blame him.
From SCFC point of view if he goes - he goes - like Nzonzi and we replace -Onwards and hopefully UPWARDS

In real life - away from this forum - everyone who's a Stoke regular agrees he's not Premier League. Its about time we got defenders who can defend not piss about trying to play when they should be no nonesense tacklers and distribute the ball to a colleague in front of them or hoof it to safety if they cant.
Dare we not have opinions on here???

He's a donkey, please let him go. If he was 19 or 20 could excuse him and allow him to gain positional experience and a bit harder in the tackle. At 27 he's a powder puff of a CB and so fucking slow.

The squad is not as good as Hughes thinks. Injuries to johnson, shawcross shakiri but land have not helped but how many games have we had the same 13 or 14,let alone 11 players starting. Has shawcross seen his best days gone now. Hamstrings for shakiri and others. We could be in trouble next year

Need a lot more Steel in the defense and midfield and TATA is not the place to look.
Need players with character and a will to win win win

What a poor show - defenders pulled all over the place. Roy will have thought "that's the last we'll hear about Shawcross for England" and you can't blame him.
Two Starts for Shawcross & two abysmal defensive displays. Even allowing for lack of match fitness with his "experience" he did not read the game and he & that German next to him were pulled all over the place.
Lets face it the real score should have been about 7-0 or even 8-0 on missed Spurs chances.
Hughes needs to sort his defense out all season - we have the as bad a goal difference than those fighting relegation. fact.

Sorry but he's not good enough to be playing with the players we have around him. A decent striker would have had a hat trick. Plenty of hussle and bustle but a bit like Akinbiya from which we moved on. Hughes will move him on in the summer

I thought Liverpool were having a tough time with injuries, but they could define our season. Based on the comments in the Johnson Thread we have Shawcross, Muniesa, Cameron & Johnson out. Yesterday I saw Josaleu at the Nuffield Clayton limping his way into reception to add another! At the moment what side can Hughes pick from players 100% fit & 100% worthy of a place. Some serious thoughts on players in the squad covering key positions required.

Could always dig up John o'gaunt and re- bury him outside the borough of Newcastle next to the Britannia stadium and see what happens next!
But it's a cracking theory over Dick 3

Hmm, now lets put ourselves in the players position. Would you rather be playing a not so important FA cup tie, when players rotated anyway, in the middle of February. Or would you prefer a warm season break in Dubai?
Just saying!

Probably debatable on the stronger. How do you reconcile in previous years Man Utd win Premiership then struggle in the following season with the same "strength" of players. Ok a different manager, but then look at Chelsea same strength of players and a poor start after winning the title months earlier. Even Man City strengthened their side with Bony etc which maybe weakened Swansea. Man City have been as inconsistent as anyone even Arsenal - no lowering of strength in any of these teams I just think the standard of players is higher across the League especially when they have a greater urge to win or not be beaten, which in itself makes it all the more competitive. If you are not playing to 100% of your capacity at the moment you will fail.

The fact that the top 8 are closer confirms that apart from Villa & Sunderland the league is a lot stronger and more competitive. We really need a goalscorer and in that position we are no stronger. Diof & Crouch need to go - some quality brought in.
Until we get that bit of quality in front of goal we will still struggle to break mis table I'm afraid.

If you followed him around on Tuesday at Old Trafford he was a disgrace. Never tackled back, no energy going forward or tracking back. Whether he was in a trance as we signed a defensive midfielder but his was as poor a performance I've seen all season and that was when most of the other players never turned up....again. Since December - January was going to define our season - we have slumped. Good job we got some points in the bag

Massive vote of confidence in Hughes at a time when probably most needed. Bad January out of two cups, talk of other clubs looking for good managers and Sir Peter comes up trumps. And I think they would have spent another £20 million + on that lad down the road. Still summer is around the corner and we do need goals in this team.
Will Imbula be the next Ya Ya Toure?

Even Wrighty took the pass out of wooly on match of the day. He looked like a donkey. Stoke players not at the races, worrying for the next three away games.

Shelvey would have ticked a lot of boxes for the current Stoke team, but alas too late as he's going to Newcastle - Fee agreed. unless Stoke persuade him Stoke area bigger and better proposition that Newcastle and more to the point....does Hughes rate him. One that got away for me, watch him go at Newcastle and watch Newcastle go.

Up to the last 6 or 7 weeks of this season he was not that highly thought of as he is a moody egotistical prima donna more times than not. He has come to life the more high profile the opposition - Tuesday night being a big exception.
So nobody - footballer or person in the workforce is irreplaceable to any business. If he goes he goes and if he stays he stays, but he will not hold the club to ransom. I would be more concerned if Hughes was forcing a deal.
Like Nzonzi if he can't toe the line then Fuck Off

We definitely got away lightly last night when Liverpool should have been 2 or 3 up at half time. We rallied a bit second half, but were just not at the races for some reason. Passing worst I have seen from a Hughes-Stoke side.
The good news is that Liverpool played really well, we were poor and only lost 1-0, so bring it on boys at Anfield we are definitely still well in this tie, but we have to sort the Stoke heads out.
Also not for the first time our home form - formation - style - whatever is being shown up by visiting teams. Not a fortress and needs to be looked at as its happened to Stoke-Hughes teams over the last two seasons.

remember "We always beat West Brom" - sounds like we are their "bunnies" these days. I can almost hear them singing "We always beat Stoke" next time we meet. But its down to indiscipline and poor defending with 10 minutes to go.

I must admit I had my doubts about the Coates family letting TP go and bringing in Hughes, but I was wrong. TP is great for teams struggling and he will save the day for any team in trouble and keep them in the prem. But the Coates family had the vision to know stoke city could do better, play a more pleasing game for the fsns and media and yet not get drawn into a relegation battle like West Brom tried to do year after year.
I salute the Coates family and their shrewd business sense in a football arena - almost impossible to do - and are now reaping the rewards and plaudits through Mark Hughes and his management team. Hughes has been left alone to build a proper football team.

Not scoring definitely puts pressure on. Even against Man City we should have been 5 or 6 up in the end. Good strikers cost money. Need to find a gem but need to offload Crouch and Diof
