Going the same as last season, losing to lower teams with lesser overall ability. A bit like we were against the good footballing sides like West Brom, which we always beat by a more direct approach. Bi-pass midfield if you haven't got the quality. Some of the Stoke Midfield & defenders think they are better than they are and at times need to Hoof it out of danger and at least gives Diof & the like a 50/50 chance in opponents half. Sometimes we over pass get no-where, get in trouble and get caught, That has not changed from last season, especially at home when Hughes does not seem to know how best to set his team up and the team don't seem to know when to short pass long pass or just hoof.(let alone Shoot!)
A time for Manager, Management team and players for inner reflection if they are to start winning games at home because its not so much a Fortress as a Fort - Stress for home fans

Shelley, montero and ayez worry me! We don't do international breaks very well especially just after a run. I'll be happy with a draw, but a win would be fantastic.

With the pre-season poor showing, the start of season even worse showing including the 0-0 with Luton, we will probbaly struggle here. We can't score enough goals to compensate for a poor defense.
Apart from that we are doing OK.... for a side in the bottom three!!!

Does not know his best team now. Didn't pre-season. Anyone who thinks Diof is any better than Jerome worries me. Both chickens with no heads, but Diod has club feet and a box on his head. Worrying times! Hope I've spelt everything ok in good English!!!!!!

Would be very happy to avoid relegation this season with the money on offer next year. Need some Steele in defense and midfield but I'm afraid too many flair players that we may regret come April/may 2016. So is me !!!!!!!!!!

Is the change happening too quickly. Defence should always be the pillar on which successful sides grow and I'm afraid this is probably the weakest Stoke defence we have had in the prem, so a disappointing window as we need a strong defensive midfield player and a CH that can head a bloody ball instead of just trying to maul the opposition.

But can't score! After two sendings off they were probably told not to take chances with any more fouls that is probably why very few fouls. Build up too too slow giving opposition plenty of time to get back in defence as was the case against Luton. Need to change the temp at times and use pace otherwise it's going to be a long season in the relegation zone in a must not get relegated year.

Just Reading the "last post" of about 10 pages! Yes Stoke were not up for it, very poor passing which is what Hughes is trying to make us - a passing side. Squeester is spot on - the REf went to blow full time, put the whistle to his mouth, saw Luton were on the attack down their left and let it flow until Given had the ball safely in his hands then blew full time. Also may have been mentioned in the thread earlier but defo a stonewall penalty for a blantent push on Joselue in the box.

Hopefully we will start getting our game in gear by Christmas to avoid the drop. Oh yes of course we will have the Stoke fans saviour back by then. Mr shawcross the player that according to blinkered Stoke fans is the main man, the messiah. The player that is far better than any other English Centre back, the player that all the other premier league clubs are waiting to include him in their team.
Anything that comes near the truth on here is a shitbin post. There's non so blind as those who will not see.
Hughes knows to be successful we need dynamic players all across the pitch. In time this will become apparent and the likes of shawcross will end up in the championship.

I know it's been said in this post but just catching up. Unbelievable that on 6 August a decision like that made. Has shawcross not been completely honest so he could have a summer off then another couple of months. So while getting mega bucks he has or will be off for four to five months on full pay. Maybe synical thinking but to me it stinks.
We might be better off without him anyway. Can't pass a ball to save his life. Not scoring from set pieces but has let in more since Pulis has gone.
Stoke 1 Liverpool 3 - Benteke 2

Hate to say it - so don't I hear you all say, but a piss poor pre-season when we could only beat Wrexham & an second rate Malayan team. Lost to .....Brentford and others.... Also a few bit part players arriving in the window, unless that changes ..I can see a heavy defeat Sunday and a bit of a struggle. Yes they will need the 12 Man at its loudest.

He may want to play Champions League to get international recognition, so in England that means a bigger club than Stoke, but those bigger clubs would not buy him.
Sit it out and unless he moves abroad can't see him leaving, but if he does go abroad then should get a decent price and I think we can replace him with better up and coming players.
This time around Stoke Management seem to know more than any of us what they are doing.

Liverpool played Mignolet, Stoke played Butland! With all the injuries in defense you need to keep as consistent side as possible. Big Big mistake by Hughes not to play Bego. Lets face it he cant have been tired apart from picking the ball out of the net four times on Wednesday. I bet that also lifted Blackburn with no Walters Shawcross etc, who I accept were injured

There's only one thing worse than being talked about and that's not being talked about. Danny baker used to be quite good in his early days. He also had a good stock of hair. He would say so what?? And I would agree with him.

We managed ok in early season without Bojan on fire, and he's not performed every game. However, he was starting to be the answer to the creative attacking mid fielder. New player would take time to gel and next thing you know it's April time. So If you want an opinion then NO Hughes will not replace.
But like all things you only need to be patient for that answer and that will be revealed on 2nd feb

I reckon they will test Bojan out early with a few hard tackles. Stoke need to get at them and not stand off, if they stand off Ars will kill us.

Yes indeed well done lads.
We need begovitch to start taking command of his area to get more team sheets. May be a great shot stopper, but to be honest his command of the area is woeful and needs to improve in 2015. He needs to come out and catch or punch clear more often.

Good win for the lads. Clean sheet a bonus, let's have more of them. Fi of not good enough so not good idea off load crouchy, not yet. Will Diof come good???
We also need to sort out how to play at home even if it means counter attacking as we do away. Most fans only see them at home so Hughes really does need a good run with no more home points lost.

You can't let in 3 goals at home and expect anything. It seems we either keep it tight can't score and lose 1-0 or open the floodgates score 2 and lose 3

Too many goals being given away on set pieces, which used to be our strength. Defense Fragile and we are struggling to score goals. I think its going to be a long season of very very tight games, which could go either way, hopefully our way more than others.

And it should be a pointer to make a move on Moses sooner rather than later, even behind the scenes ready for January, then they can have Assaidi back and perhaps offload & replace the "sulk" Arnautivic

Hull immediately went 4 4 1 after sending off and yet We stuck with a back 4. Should have gone for back 3, left Whelan on and brought Bojan on for a defender. Mindless, lucky to have a point and after Saturday bottom of league.
We should be better than this and it seems they were not motivated against two "lower" teams. Saturday we may play a great deal better being motivated to beat the Champions, but as they will be too strong we will end up with nothing. They were all poor crossing, passing, shooting tackling so you can't have a go at any one player.

Villa's set up is always defense and counter attack. They stiffed stoke who had no answer. That's why Hughes is fate wide men. Early days let's see if Hughes learns
