Van Ginkel doesn't deserve another start. He contributes nothing going forward and he hardly ever tracks his runners. Sparky gave him his chance last week & he failed to impress. I would go with -
------------ Jack--------------
Glen - Ryan - Wolly - Pieters
Affelay -- Whelan -- Muniesa
Shaq ----- Bojan ------ Arni
Palace are arguably the fastest team in the premier league so playing Adam would be a huge gamble. We need someone who can track the midfield runners, like Cabaye & McArthur (something Southampton failed to do last week). Ideally Geoff would be perfect for that role but if he's out then I think Muniesa should be given a chance in that position (or even Wilson for that matter). I was tempted to start with Diouf up front but I think a false 9 is perfect for this game. Palace aren't just going to settle for counter attacks, they're going to try to dominate the ball. With Afellay & Muniesa in midfield, we'll have enough pace to cope defensively. Just need to find a way to keep Cabaye quiet. I'd bring on Diouf & Walters around 60-70 min mark if things aren't going well. Hopefully, Cameron & Shaqiri are both fit to play.

Fitness of Cameron and Shaquri is key. What's the latest? Too soon to tell probably.

Just seen that Josh from the ticket office has tweeted that this game is another sell out. Well impressed with the level of support from Stokies this season

Always enjoy a trip to Stoke. Sell out crowd with both clubs doing well. Should be a good game.

Really looking forward to this one now its developed into a really important game.
Palace three points ahead of us and currently 6th ,if they beat us they go 6 points clear of us .
if we win then we could go flying up the league and level on points with them.
Sold out lets hope for a great win.

iv a feeling itl be a real slog, palace will come and sit in there own half and try to catch us on the counter cos there from 3 are fkn lightening quick.... we need to be patient and just get a result.

Tight game I reckon. I'll settle for a 1-0 win.

I fancy us to win 2-1 for some reason. I wonder what formation Hughes will go for?

Eagles seem set up for attack so may suit our counter attacking - but their forwards look fast and tricky, a reet handful - will be a test. Hope we can stand firm. Wouldn't be unhappy with a point - three would be great to wipe the smirk off that smug looking pardew face?

I'd love to see him go at them with the same line up as vs Man Citeh. IF he does, and we can get an early goal I feel we could punish them and win easy. But I doubt he will. Is Shaq fit ?

Will need to dig deep on this one for another clean sheet. Will palace come to play or to spoil?

I agree with above. For just about anyone we play the first goal is so important. If we concede the opposition will sit deep because they have seen we have trouble breaking down a packed defence. If we score first they have to come out which gives us more space to get in behind them.

Buts Same back four Whelan and Aff Bojan Arnie and Shaq Diouf
I know he missed one and the other was an excellent save but we need pace to turn them. Shaq popping some balls on his head may just work

I think we need Diouf's pace in behind, but I worry that, if we drop Bojan into the hole and just have Afellay alongside Glenn, we could get overrun in the middle of the park. So do we get Charlie back in there, which would be harsh on Afellay? I suppose he could well keep his place anyway if Shaq is not fit to return.

Butland Solid back four Whelan Afellay bojan Shaqiri Diouf arnie
Diouf and bojan pistoning through the middle, dioufs speed and defensive acumen may well be needed.

Hopefully our wingers will nullify their biggest threat. We should have beaten them last year.

Tough game this, but another test to see if we have the ability to achieve a top 6-8 place. Win and I think we can really push on,if we lose we may have to accept that we will probably be top 10 again and look for the cup(s) for added cheer.

Palace stole a win last season,Stoke we're excellent. If we bring our shooting boots we will beat them.
It's an if though at the moment.
