We made Ba look daft and then he's made us look like pricks since! Does that include his appearance in the recent Chelsea match, when we beat them 3 - 2 ?

He's got a point to be fair. How do you know some of hackers in the Prem are going to pull out of the tackle when they come steaming in? The likes of Gary Lineker when he was playing used to jump over incoming tackles and stay on his feet. Compare with the modern day players who don't jump but try to tangle with the tackling player and throw themselves onto the ground to gain a free kick and the potential booking of an opponent. When they get it wrong it's obvious for all to see that it's a blatant dive. I'm not condoning bad challenges, but diving is cheating, nothing more, nothing less.

I can't remember the last shot Whelan had on target. N'zonzi and Palacios in midfield for me on Saturday And just how many shots have N'Zonzi & Palacios had on target this season?

I'm not a fan of Liverpool, but it's much better seeing them there than The Arse.
By the end of the season I think that Man City will be runaway leaders.

I think that the artist that you're thinking of is Sid Kirkham who is based in Christchurch Street Fenton.
I've just found this via Google.

Doesn't Neville remember his own two disgraceful tackles within seconds of each other on Matty Etherington ?

We have to keep the Villa game in mind when selecting the team if you ask me. Bring sorro, wilko, Adam, Etherington/Pennant and Jones in and keep the rest strong. I'd rather win at the weekend and lose today than the other way round. With respect I disagree. We're on the verge of a cup semi-final. Plenty of time to sort out the league position

I don't think he is his usual confident self, looking a bit shaky but I suppose his discomfort could be because yet again he has to keep covering Cameron who is constantly out of position. Pete, I think that Cameron isn't quite as good as normal because he isn't getting the support he usually gets from Walters.

He seems desperately low on confidence. fuck knows what he was trying to do when he was one-on-one with the one-paced danny graham. and he keeps losing out on aerial balls to the edge of the area because he's not tight enough I'm watching Hull versus Stoke. ........... I don't know what match you are watching?

My abiding memory of the Boothen Paddock was versus Man City when Denis Tueart took off his shirt and gave it to Mickey Pejic. Pejic promptly threw it into the paddock where it got torn into shreds. The ref made Tueart put the shirt back on again!

I recognise the guy in the white polo shirt, Mark or something like that? Spent a few seasons in the Boothen paddock with the Talke Pits/ Kidsgrove lot, remember Wolves coming round at the end of one game trying to get to the boothen when the big gates opened, they never got in as the paddock spotted them. Simon Harris, Alec Proctor, Kevin Wardrobe & other lads from Meir / Blythe in that photo.

I'm probably a traditionalist but a Stoke shirt has to have the following: red and white stripes, regular pattern and spacing, no extra wide ones or pinstripes. White stripe in the middle. More white than red in the overall design: white collar, cuffs, white-based sleeves. Stripes on the back as well as the front. Simples. Correctamundo !!! Nothing else will do.

Carra says no foul by Jon Walters for our second goal.
I also thought I heard him say that John Terry is a twat.

It was pretty clear that the tactic was for Bego to clear it to the right wing for first Walters then Arnie to win the aerial challenge v Azpilucueta and nod it on...Assaidi is 5foot 2 so no chance. I was thinking more in terms of 'threading' the ball out to Assiadi on the right wing, rather than 'launching' it from the back.

Arnie has moved from the left side to the right to accommodate Assiadi during the last two matches when Walters wasn't on the pitch.
Assiadi is right-footed and during his time on the pitch, he always seems to cut inside from the left wing ( as we saw to great effect with yesterday's magnificent strike!)
Walters is suspended for the next match against Hull, so I wondered if we'd be better leaving Arnie out left and playing Assiadi on the RIGHT wing. That way Assiadi could take on the fullback and get some quality crosses in from the BYE-LINE. I think that Crouch (or Jones) would benefit from that type of service.

However poor the skill base (both teams), there's no doubting the level of commitment by the Palace team. Can we truly say the same about ourselves?

We definitely aren't East Midlands even though our dialect is quite close to theirs but ours isn't as whiny or horrible. And the actual accent is close to Scouse too, which always winds me up when I get called a Scouser usually by some posh cunt. The East Midlands accent though can affect people as far west as Hilderstone though. Wherever you travel in the world, you can always tell those people from Stoke-on-Trent ............... they're the only ones who don't have an accent!

The 'Birmingham News' otherwise known as 'Midlands Today'', feature Port Vale (in Staffordfordshire, apparently) in their sports bulletins. However, they don't feature Crewe or the Macc Lads (both Cheshire). Is this the true divide?
p.s. Apologies for my use of four-letter words in the above.

Where does that leave us?

Overall I actually think Cameron and Pieters have been pretty decent this season. Cameron has arguably been one of our most consistent players so far and Pieters has improved a lot defensively since the opening game at Anfield. If your full backs go forward though it shouldn't be the job of the centre backs to come across and cover, your central midfield players should be reading the danger and filling in the gaps and making up a back four. I can't recall a single occasion Palacios or N'Zonzi did this yesterday. The best Stoke player I've ever seen at performing that role was Delap, he had a superb football brain and was forever dropping in and covering for other players when there was gaps You've just summarised our current problem exactly.

I recall Mickey Adams playing about half a dozen games for us on loan from Southampton . I thought that he was quite an impressive left sided midfielder / winger.

What's all this 'middle class' sh!t?
I've had a Stoke season ticket since 1974 (in John Smith's upper since we moved to the Brit).
I have also been working since the age of 16.
Does this make me 'middle class' or 'working class' ?

The decision to swap Jones for Crouch was mind boggling as it achieved nothing and was never going too Arnie should of gone centre forward with Assaidi coming on Bob on !
