Taggart, Shawcross and Hendrie are definitely up there with the best load signings that we've made.
The worst? Ameobi!

Steino? Wasn't he originally on loan? Yes, good call. He didn't actually score when he came on loan first time around did he, but yes undoubtedly, one of the best Stoke signings of all time.

Alan Biley was exactly what Stoke needed at that time - a bit of punch up front. why didnt we sign him?
Gudjons biggest mistake Imho was pushing for Dadason who we dint need (as we had Thorne) instead of Gunnlaugsson. If Arnie had signed perm in summer 2000 I think we woudl have walked teh league in 2001 & gone into the championship with Kav & Thorne,ITV digital money, boyant crowd fully on side & a board who would have had far more faith in him.
TP's uses of the loan system was excellent - even the complete flops like Shola sort of worked as that signing gave Mama a big jolt & responding by actually scoring goals.

Alan Biley 3 down at Southampton at ht.......we get back to make it 3:3 then lose late on Only Stoke eh

The best one i've seen are Shawcross, Salif, Crossley, and Taggart.
I reckon Akinbiyi, John Halls, Lee Hendrie (for pure influence more than anything else), Gunlaugsson and Danny Tiatto are also worth a mention.
I'll be amazed if I haven't completely forgotten a few though.

Taggart, Shawcross and Hendrie are definitely up there with the best load signings that we've made. The worst? Ameobi! Ameobi is an interesting one because i thought at the time that he was a fantastic loan signing simply because it gave Sidibe competition and made Mama play better. Which meant Mama helped us to promotion through Ameobi being here. Or something like that. Work all that out into something coherent and there's sense there somewhere. Not the exact thing you want from signing a player on loan but it worked

Pennant was pretty damn good in his 6 month loan. The times when we had him and Etherington (in his prime) were very entertaining.

If they'd got the £200,000 they wanted, they'd still have been ripped-off.

I recall Mickey Adams playing about half a dozen games for us on loan from Southampton . I thought that he was quite an impressive left sided midfielder / winger.
