Could you imagine Aston Villa winning the league and then the European Cup nowadays? Even Liverpool is a pipe dream - the league is owned by Manchester both and Chelsea now. Arsenal bridesmaids too but always potential to win it Clubs like Spuds/Everton best they can hope for is Europe/FA Cup And this is exactly the reason why we should continue to field our strongest possible side in the League Cup,..... a genuine chance of some silverware for us this season.

All us cynical, bitter and twisted bastards could learn a lot from Neil Baldwin. So very true.

Excellent biopic on the man. Great TV Happy memories - shame he didn't score in Sid Cowans testimonial at Villa Park. as i remember it they didn't let him! i believe they actually did, but Tony Kelly knicked the ball and scored himself i think Not quite. The ball from the corner was played along the ground for Nello to score at the far post. The Villa defence moved out, but as the ball was played Tony Kelly rushed in at the near post & missed it. Nigel Spink just turned around to the Stoke fans & shrugged his shoulders. Looks like everyone knew what was happening bar Kelly. Even the Villa fans wanted Nello to score!

'One Neil Baldwin, there's only one Neil Baldwin!!'
I'm so glad that I took my dearly departed Dad to Villa for the testimonial.
Thanks Nello.

Stokies living in the South West might be interested in joining the South West Stokies. We organise car shares for all games and can purchase match tickets on your behalf. If the demand is there we can run minibuses to games also. We also organise regular social events. The next will be at Southampton for our game on October 25th. Check out the website at SWS or our facebook page which is linked below. UTP. Good luck with your venture

We've only got one defensive midfielder anyway. Nzonzi doesn't defend. Very true

Butland didn't seem move for a shot from the edge of the penalty area. Can't believe that the management think that we can do without the likes of Whelan & / or Wilson. Where's the bite in midfield?

It's getting to the point where Woy the wanker will most likely start picking players from the high street, so long has they have a top 6 club shirt on. Brilliant!

Two Premier teams out already. This is a good chance of some silverware for us. We are not playing again until Monday, so I think that we should field as strong a team as possible against Sunderland.

Brendan Richard O'Callaghan. You beat me to it! As I recall Big Bren came on as a sub when Stoke were awarded a corner. There was anticipation amongst the crowd as the giant of a man trotted into the penalty box. Over came the corner & Bren headed home with his first touch.

I'm unable to verify this myself, but I believe it to be true, so forewarned is forearmed.
On a recent trip to Hull, my cousin picked up a speeding ticket for doing 33mph in a 30mph area.
Apparently, there is no tolerance in Hull, anything above the speed limit is bookable. There is none of the '10% + 2mph' tolerance which seems to pervade elsewhere in the country.
As I said, I've no first-hand experience myself, but I don't want fellow Stokies to get caught out & spoil an otherwise tremendous day out. Best wishes.

Villa just stood there, and challenged Stoke to go though them. We didn't. Side and back passes to no avail. Our midfield did nothing today. N'Zonzi fell back into his old ways, and Wilson was hard to watch. We had no forward movement at all until Crouch came on. I think that N'Zonzi is the problem. He makes too many sideways and backwards passes and generally slows up the play. Diouf was full of movement up front, but there we no through passes to him, and no runners from midfield until Charlie Adam came on and took the game to Villa.

Just seen on SSN prem managers Bruce, Hughes, Pardew, Poyet & Rogers speaking highly of Tony Pulis. Obviously none of them know as much as the 'experts' on this site.

The poll has been taken off so where's the result? Bojan. 29% Herrera. 27% Sanchez. 19% All totally meaningless but a great result all the same, especially if it racks off the 'supporters' of the Sky4 teams.

The original poster is correct. Yarmalenko is stil a Stoke target.
People moan on this site when they don't know what's going on, & then when someone tells them the poster gets a load of grief!

Southampton have made enquiries about Geoff Cameron but Mark Hughes wants to try him in midfield in an area where he considers that we are still 'light'. Whilst in Germany, Hamburg & West Brazil are also tailing Geoff.
