1. Too reliant on the few international class Stoke players
2. A loss of tempo in the latter stages. Fitness or creativity issues perhaps.

Lots of poor performances, which happens. What shouldnt happen is consistent poor individual performances or mistakes which certain players are very guilty of currently. Injuries are having a large effect also.

Losing Moses then going 1 down was probably worst case scenario, then it happened

I think the score flatters to be honest, It was no demolition but more fool us for poor defending and not creating chances. It's the first game this year where I felt we didn't really produce anything going forward which lets face it that is primarily because our front 3 turned into a crouch one man strike force which was akin to Pulis' tactics away from home.

1. Started very slowly, defensively looked soft.
2. Equalized when we still weren't really switched on (typical tenacious Adam goal).
3. Stepped off it after scoring.
4. Lost Moses, changed the game.
5. Whelan goes off, final goal typical.

Poor final ball + lack of cutting edge which has been the case for most games this season. Unfortunately for us today, Sunderland had 3 chances and stuck them all away.

It wasn't a heavy loss, we were in the game until the 3rd and we certainly didn't get hammered.
It was good to see we actually went for it with 20 mins to go and 2-1 down, you're going to get caught on the break once in a while when you commit so many men forward but needs must and it's better than defending when 1-0 down.

Fundamental footballing error by bringing a mascot on towards the end.
Seriously though, I thought we looked dashing in defeat. Some absolutely cracking nogger and great stuff in patches: Whelan, N'Zonzi, Muniesa, Adam, Assaidi, Arnie, Moses and Shawcross all did some amazing things. Scoreline aside, we bossed it, looked better as individuals. Shame about the Moses injury. The enforced changes were greeted with positive replacements, but again the plan and shape suffered.
More attention to set pieces {both ends}, de-clutter the defence, and a bit of shooting practice, and we're there.

1)Wilson's marking was atrocious 2)Arnautovic and Assaidi simply aren't in the same league as Moses and Diouf. 3)N Zonzi simply can't shoot on target and we have no back up for him and Whelan. 4)Bojan isn't up to premiership

Too many goals being given away on set pieces, which used to be our strength. Defense Fragile and we are struggling to score goals. I think its going to be a long season of very very tight games, which could go either way, hopefully our way more than others.

- Poor defending - Moses coming off and being replaced by a far less effective player. - Diouf missing - too many players having off days - not a lot of luck

Lackadaisical, complacent, lightweight performance.
Without that vital pace on the break, we looked very ordinary today.

Wilson stops our defense being solid particularly at set pieces Too many passengers, Assaidi, Arnie and Bojan, Most worrying the number of non-contact injuries, something wrong with the fitness regime or preparation. No impact from substitutions, Walters to be fair came on late as did Bojan and neither got into the game. Adam did well until he ran out of steam.

sorry to say this but watching the games this season this type of result has been coming, defending far to deep and when our wing threats are gone ie left with arnaotovic and assaidi sry thats our goal threat gone..

Been work today so only got the result. Can someone tell me why after more attempts, more on target, loads more possession, 180 more passes than them, that both hughes and bbc report say that sunderland got a deserved win? Serious question.

Serious question. We tip tapped sideways on the half way line for most of the game. On the few occasions Sunderland got the ball near our goal, we were all at sea. We barely touched the ball in their penalty area.

1. Pathetic defending for the goals.
2. Lack of cutting edge with the ball.
3. No fight against a very poor Sunderland team with no confidence.

Our three league defeats this season:
Villa at home - 1 shot on target conceded - 1 goal conceded Leicester at home - 1 shot on target conceded - 1 goal conceded Sunderland away - 3 shots on target conceded - 3 goals conceded
So from our three league defeats, we've conceded 5 goals from 5 shots on target. In total we've conceded 15 shots on target in 7 games and 8 of those shots have gone in. I'm not certainly not excusing our defending because we shouldn't be giving away these opportunities in the first place but it's fair to say just about every shot we concede is flying in at the moment. Add to that the fact Moses went off injured today and Diouf and Odemwingie are also out and it's fair to say most of our pace is absent as well, not ideal at all when you play a counter attacking game. The international break has probably come at the perfect time for us.

The knickerwetting from those who would seemingly rather us go away from home and park the bus, watch the other side play football while Johnny boy runs around a lot and lose one nil anyway is frankly staggering.

Can't be anything else but defending in the box. We scored away,I know we should have had more, but that isn't the reason we lost, far more possession than them, so not really the midfield. I'm not a big hater of Wilson, but I think it's time for Huth to return.
