And by poor I mean 45 points or less. Seems to be a lot of negativity.
Is it only me who rates our players?
I genuinely am excited at watching Shaqiri,Bojan,Arnoutivic on a regular basis.
Adam,Ireland,Afellay,Diouf
Good players
More goals in the side than last season.
I'm even impressed by Glen Johnson despite his iffy moments.

The return of the skipper and in what physical condition will be key.
If I was a betting man (which I am), I'd have us down around 13th this year.

Pulis being our manager scared me most of all, nothing could petrify me more than that. We'll be fine, can't say the same for Bourinho

Whelan's doing a fine job and we should never have let Huth go knowing that Ryan had fitness issues (ongoing for years) and left his surgery so late this season. I'll bet we finish 10th (also a gambler)

I think we will be fine, some good players. I've never liked this stronger second half of the season stuff and as soon as we get that win on the board then we can move onwards and upwards. However the longer it goes without a win then the losing or drawing habit sets in. Just hope the side settles down and Hughes can put together the formula. We have enough winners in the side but for now its a bit of a battle to get up and running so we are gonna have to dig in. Starting at arsenal.

I think it's only a matter of time before one of our new signings produces a jaw dropping piece of skill and hopefully that will be the catalyst to boost our morale and performance level.
However I simply can not accept that we can change so much with so little time and expect it all to gel in a moment.
Do I think the change is good , yes . Can't wait for it to gel.
Do I think we will struggle for a while longer, yes, new players and players set to return almost like a complete new squad and with a lot more expectation on them.
Do I think we will get 9th no and I would be happy with mid table and 45 points as I feel that is a price well worth paying for the changes we are seeing.

Biggest transition season yet. And much more strength and depth throughout the prem this season. The successful teams will be those that click the quickest.
Expecting mid table, would be delighted with top half again.

I agree with Lord B. I am very confident of a top 7 or 8 finish at the very least. Get every one pushing in the same direction and we will be a force to be reckoned with. Mark Hughes will instill his version of discipline in the team and then watch them go all out. Exciting times are ahead. Goarrrrrrrn Stoke.

Palace and Swansea look better than us, West Ham have added well and Everton surely can't be as bad as last year. About 12th/13th is likely IMO.

It depends totally on how quickly we gel from here and how lucky we are with injuries. All of our lads at the back need to steer clear of injury and suspension between now and January. Both of our wingers need to remain in form and fit until January. We've left ourselves with no margin for error in some key area's for the system we use. I don't want to even think about Whelan getting crocked or losing his rag.

To be honest TD, I'm basing my assertion on what I saw on Saturday as an immense collective come back when the chips were on their arse!! Same thing happened at Spurs and I think the seige mentality of the team ethic will both garner us a few points and round up support. I'm sticking with 10th son

Look at the players you've mentioned - every one of them is a front-third-of-the-pitch player. This is the problem - we have the attacking options of a top eight team, while defensive options are injured or creaking or inconsistent or risky or out of position or lacking cover or outright crap. So mixed feelings, simple as that really.

With every single team in any sport, it's only as strong as its weakest link. Everybody knows where we are very vulnerable:Ryan and Fonz! You can buy, loan, get fancy dans by the bucketful but without strong foundations the team won't get anywhere? Hoping for top 12, expecting a relegation fight. Too many teams of similar stature have blown us out of the water by their spending!
