Got to say I agree that with fitness permitting we will see the same starting 11 that played against West Ham. Imo thats the least those boys deserve after an excellent away performance and if Hughes continues to pick players on their merits then keep a winning team!! But we won the game ultimately thanks to Pennant so surely if we are picking players on merit then Etherington or Walters should be dropped to accommodate JP in the starting xi. His free kick was brilliant and won us the game but can Pennant perform for the full 90 mins these days?

He looks like a chimp but so does Peter Reid and Gareth Bale - so he's in good company if chimp-like features mean you're a decent footballer

I've been lucky enough to see Gullit and Gascoigne against Stoke but both were at the end of their careers so neither stood out as such just that they were legends of the game.
Didier Drogba both times I saw him play against us and he was outstanding - real quality player and the only one for me that has actually lived up to his reputation!!

I think Palace will shock us and take the win. We can't score Stoke 0 - 1 Palace Holloway does the Barry Fry/Paolo Di Canio/Jose Mourinho down the touchine and knackers his suit!!

Does Tony believe that the new transfer policy at Stoke is working and does he and the board believe we have a strong enough squad for the coming season?

Personally I think the time was right to get rid of Pulis because as many have said he had done as much as he could - I had these thoughts since we performed so awfully at Swansea back in January and it never got any better from there.
However the key to everything for Stoke City is getting the right man to take the owners vision forward. Not the manager who I want or you want or the next door neighbour wants but who the board want. If the board want to bring in younger players to sell for profit which makes us self sustainable then I think that reduces the candidates for the job considerably. No Benitez, no O'Neill, no Hughes - more likely it will be the likes of Solskjaer, Rosler, or Steve Davis - managers that don't need fortunes to put out a competitive football team and have ultimate faith in youngsters! Maybe it will be Di Matteo with Steve Holland to bring through the academy players?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is another that puts emphasis on youth and development and he used to live in Bramhall - not too far away from Stoke. He would be looking to manage in the Premier surely and if the Phil Neville things are true - who knows??

Sad to say I will be avoiding this one too. Fearing a drubbing, probably a 4-0 defeat and as many have said already probably less than 2 shots on target from us with 10% possession!!
Realistically even if we were more a more attacking side I'm not so sure we'd get a result anyway.
I am gonna spend the day with the kids instead - take them swimming and pizza hut and check the result and then get all pissed off about it ;D

Why not save all of Stoke City top to bottom the expense, effort and waste of energy of an away game - Stoke should forfeit every away game and automatically give away the 3pts because thats we set-up to do anyway The week off for the players will make sure they are fit for home games and supporters can do something else instead of wasting their money and time FFS!!

Can anyone tell me what is the fucking point.
We have always set up to sit back and defend away from home and it must have brought us a 3% win rate if that.
I can understand if we get mullered every week because we play too open, too cavalier and therefor need to play it tight. There is just no brain or intelligence playing this system week after week - it is wank and we lose anyway - it is completely soul destroying!!!!

I'm not sure about him but in fairness he's not really had a sufficient run in the team to prove one way or the other. I think any player needs at least 10 consecutive games to get into his stride and be fairly judged - I'm happy to keep him in because of the 2 wingers aspect as well so my vote; stick with him

I got the shit and pisstakes off the 'Liverpool' supporters back in the 80's playground as well. Who would have thought that a Stoke fan in a Stoke school would get hammered for following his local team!!
I hate this lot more than any other gloryhunter because as Bunny says this lot started it off. I know plenty of Stoke on Trent people with no connection to the Scousers at all, never been to Anfield but supposedly bleed the Liverbird and speak passionately about 'The Reds'.
Come on Stoke effin bash em ;D
