Right, lot of differing opinions about the team selection and formation from yesterday's 'performance'. So what would yours be vs QPR?
Mine would be:
Bego
Cameron - Huth - Shawcross - Whitehead
N-Zonzi
Kightly - Adam - Ethers
Crouch - Jerome
That's with the current players available, I think the whole of our supporters would have Pennant back in an instant. But this is PULIS were talking about.

Very close to putting Jones in for Crouch, we only looked like scoring when he came on at Norwich and he probably should have done too. I'd have put Pennant in there instead of Kightly too if he were here.

Bego Cameron - Huth - Shawcross - Wilko N-Zonzi - Whelan Kightly - Adam - Ethers Crouch This - it means we don't throw the baby out with the bath water and build / learn from mistakes. I'd be tempted to play jones over crouch too !

Any side that doesn't start with Walters and Whitehead would do me. I would love to see players who can move and create space whch is where I think our problems are. People sa ywe lack pace which is true, but most of all we lack movement. When was the last time we created a cross or a chance through movement? The only time we create space is through an error on the opposing team or someone outjumping another player.Movement is what we need!

Good question.
Bego Wilko (Right side) Huth Ryan Cameron (until we can get someone in) JP N'Zonzi Rory Ethers SJW Crouch
1) Defence - why have weakness on both sides of defence. Sadly, Cameron doesn't have a clue and Wilko is poor on the left. Therefore, put the entire weakness on the left and at least keep one side strong
2) Wide Midfield - these are the two wingers who offer most threat. Can we get JP back yet? Kightly should be no where near the starting 11. Walters is only playing wide to cover defensively for the woeful Adam. Get Adam out of the team and tell him that Stoke players are not overweight, don't dive at every opportunity and don't sit there pulling up their socks watching the opposition craft a goal. Then we can play with 2 wingers.
3) Central midfield - every team has to pose a goal threat. Like it or not ours comes from set plays. We are now seeing our team without the long throws. I'm afraid you have to watch from behind the sofa as we win a throw and then pass the ball back to the centre circle to stutter again. The long throw pulls everyone into the opposition area and creates genuine pressure from which we win corners and further throws. Rory Delap simply has to play; it is the most obvious change of them all, as a lot of posters are saying
4) Front two - If Crouch is to stay up top, then it has to be SJW, as no one else can play there (especially Adam). If Crouch can play the withdrawn role then CJ comes into the equation.
I expect TP to give the same 11 one more go, but if it goes wrong there have to be major changes and TP has to accept that yet again this transfer window has not been a success (apart from N'Zonzi).

But by starting that XI then you are basically saying to the fans that the last transfer window was a disaster, with only Nzonzi and an out of position Cameron starting. You would also start with Walters and Crouch despite the fact that this partnership resulted in us being the lowest scorers in English football, an extremely humiliating stat. You would drop our second top scorer along with Charlie Adam who was brought in to help us evolve? So we are basically saying bollocks to evolution. If TP fielded that line up and lost, he could justifiably be sacked the next day. Delap? wtf.

I'd go for a radical shake up that gets us back as close as possible to the team that got us to the FA Cup Final;
Begovic Wilko, Huth, Shawcross, Cameron Kightly, N'zonzi, Whelan, Etherington Kenwyne, Owen (if fit)/Walters if not
I don't really want to include Walters should Owen be injured but I don't rate Jerome in the slightest and Walters could add the nuisance factor a bit deeper if necessary.
When thinking about this, I was also very very tempted to suggest the inclusion of Rory alongside N'zonzi which would allow him to play a little further forward. Whelan's strong start to the season led me to include him instead.
I would definitely have Rory on the bench.

I agree a shake up is needed but dropping Adam could be disastrous. He is due a big game.
