I saw Messi a few weeks ago at Camp Nou and he was unbelievable. A few years ago I witnessed Ronaldo tearing apart Brazil in a friendly. Kaka was playing for Brazil and at the time was considered one of the World's best but he was fairly disappointing. I've seen Jimmy Bullard too.

Robbie Fowler in his pomp. Sublime footballer and so, so underrated in world football terms.
Should have achieved so much more than he did.
I'm talking about the Liverpool 8 game. Unbelievable performance even if it was against a third division team at the time.

Ronaldo. Horrible to admit but true.
As an off the wall second, I saw Norman Whiteside play like god (almost Alan Hudson class; only just almost) in a game for the shit against the Brazillians from Smethwick.

I just remember beig there and ended up completely focusing on Robinho and his skill, ran past our defence like they weren't there.

Brilliant I thought Sturridge outshone him that day, even though he did score a hat-trick. That's how I saw it. Bloody good performance from Studger's nephew but far from one of the best I've ever seen. I was thrilled that Gazza played well against us for Everton a few years ago. He was past his best clearly but its the only time I've seen him live and I was chuffed: that he was good, that we appreciated him and that he clearly appreciated us. Injury free he could have been better than Hudson.

I've seen Messi, Ronaldinho, Riquelme and Neymar in the last few years but in the actual matches I watched the only one that lived up to expectations was Neymar. He was absolutely unstoppable.

In any team: Jimmy Johnstone In any team I wasn't supporting: Gianni Rivera for AC Milan at Celtic, March 1969 Against Stoke: Martin Chivers, playing for Spurs at the Vic one Saturday in, I guess 1972 or 1973. When he could be bothered he was frighteningly good.
All forty years or more ago ...
Recently: Robbie Fowler in the 8-0 I suppose (but we were so bad then)

The two games against England neymar was very underwhelming,he's miles from ronaldo and messi. if in years gone by he has been able to recreate the form of them two, then I think it's acceptable to put him up there with them two.

My old man saw Pele at the Vic vs. Santos.
Best player ive seen live in their prime was maybe Cantona.
Pre prime has to be Ronaldo.

Yeah I'm not saying it makes him as good as Messi, just saying that of all those players he was the only one who really shone in the matches I saw. He's certainly capable of being the world's best in the future I think. Phenomenal talent. For me the biggest disappointment was Riquelme - he's always been one of my favourite players and I was really looking forward to watching him for Boca, but he had a shocker...

Louis Nazario da Lima Ronaldo, Roberto Baggio, Christian Vieri, Gabriel Omar Batistuta. I've play with Poli (AC Milan) and Frison (GK Catania) when I played in Treviso Academy. I've played against Barreto (Torino) and Reginaldo (Siena) at that time.

Drogba, the most complete player I've seen. Power and pace, able to attack and defend, in my opinion, with equal skill. Would cost more than Bale if he was emerging now.

Are we talking seeing the play live and how he played or how he is generally thought of, example, Ronaldo is one of the best players alive today, but I have seen him live on a number of occasions for MUFC and once for Portugal and he has disappointed me nearly every time, in fact I would go as far as saying in a couple of the games he was poor. Rooney has always had a good game every time I have seen him, watched Dalglish and Rush a few times and thought they were fantastic with telepathic understanding, every time I saw Teddy Sherringham play he was class, Zola and Bergkamp always brilliant, Beckhams performance at Old Trafford in the World Cup qualifier v Greece was the best one off single performance by any player I have seen.
There are so, so many over the years but for me it has to be Thierry Henry, when watching him he was what I feel every footballer should look like, sleek, fast and deadly.
Wasn't lucky enough to see Maradonna or Pele live and Best was past it and poor the one time I saw him play for Fulham.

Best I've seen live were Pele, Yashin and Puskas at the Old Vic.
Best in COMPETITIVE games against Stoke: George Best, John Charles and more recently, Ronaldo.
Best in the past year - and I hate to name him because I loath the bloke as a man - Suarez

I seem to remember him putting in a late challenge within about five minutes of the match starting though! A great footballer in his prime, sadly that had passed by the time he got to play at Stoke but I'm pleased to have seen him none the less.
