Begovic Cameron Huth Shawcross Pieters Arnautovic Whelan Adam Assaidi Crouch Odemwingie Funny, I was only thinking this morning that this would be my first choice. We really missed someone with pace alongside Crouch last night and for me this should be our team playing against a side like Swansea.

According to the secret footballer (ginger twat - with apologies to any Stokie gingers out there) in his new column on TeamTalk we had him in the building and then tried to get him to sign for less than previously verbally agreed. Wouldn't surprise me to be honest. Hasn't the ginger twat already been shown to be full of shit? That article he wrote about the KJ going on strike story being made up by the club? Then KJ admitted he refused to play.......... but he didn't go on strike

If Wingie carries on in the manner that he's started it'll be difficult to argue that we got the arse end of that deal, no matter what KJ does.

Wet Sham have managed it and I think we've got a very good chance against Swansea based on recent form.

According to Talk Sport this morning utd`s top earners have a clause written in their contracts by the club that they have to take a 25% pay cut if the club fail to make champions league. With the current situation , that is looking unlikely . Should make for an interesting summer. Not only will he struggle to get players in I would imagine a few like Van Persie trying to jump ship. Has been mentioned on there a few times in the last few weeks. The agent that they have on from time to time suggested it was fairly standard practice at "the big clubs". Scholes out!

My mate has split loyalties between Everton and Stoke, so I've kind of been sucked into them as my second team. Also feeds into my hatred of Liverpool.
No question of who I want to win when we play them though.

Man poo, Liverpoo , Chelski , Arsenil Anyone else cringe when you see this stuff on here ? Not really. Part of the fun isn't it? I'm resigned to Bego leaving in the summer. I think we have a great prospect in Butland as replacement though so I'm not too concerned.

Better without.
Since Adam has stepped up his game he's approaching N'zonzi in defending terms but miles ahead when it comes to attacking and vision.

I am not too fussed about the manufacturer as long as they obey the Stoke City kit rules: 1. it is white with red stripes, not vice versa (we are not Sunderland or Brentford), so predominantly white, with white collar and cuffs and wide, not barcode, stripes. 2. there must be a central white stripe on the front and a striped, not plain, or number in a box, back. 3. no more "iron on" sponsor logos - we are not a Sunday league outfit! 4. SCFC badge on left chest, your logo on right chest, none of this central logo nonsense. 5. we can have all white or all red socks, but not horizontal stripes, we are not a stick of rock! 6. away kit: nothing too garish or made up of patchworks of what you have left (see Liverpool's purple monstrosity), just a classy retro style, maybe with a diagonal sash harking back to the early 70s. 7. we require a bespoke kit, not one straight out of the catalogue - we are a Premier League team and deserve personalised service. 8. do not dare run out of kit supplies by November! Any I've forgotten? I like the horizontal striped socks. With you on the rest though. I liked the Umbro kit too, seemed better quality than the Adidas stuff.

Yes, there was an element of luck in both our goals, a huge slice of it in the first, but as has already been said we've had a run of horrible luck recently so it's nice to have it swing our way for a change.
Having said that, those who are saying Manure were the better team and didn't deserve to lose are either lying, didn't actually watch the game, or have their heads so far up their own arses they can lick their own tonsils. We had the better chances, particularly in the second half, and on balance probably should have won by more.
Add to that the fact that they were lucky that their goal was allowed to stand at all (offside, as has been discussed in numerous threads) and it sounds even more ridiculous.

I would hope that given the lack of spending in the last two windows MH will be given more leeway in the summer, assuming we retain premiership status.
I think we'll see a lot more ins and outs come the end of the season.

Didn't our crack transfer team have their heads firmly up their own arses for most of the window? Again?
Headline striker needed, one apparently overweight unproven loanee striker secured. Amazing performance.

IMO that's bollocks. How on earth is Wilson supposed to know that Welbeck is offside when Welback is almost directly behind him and Wilson has the ball coming towards him that he has to focus his attention on??? Wilson has no option but to play the ball precisely because Welbeck is behind him. To say that Welbeck isn't interfering with, or influencing, play is totally wrong. It may be a shit rule, but that's the way it is. As you said, he was behind Wilson, nowhere near him or the ball, not in his line of vision or anything. He wasn't directly interfering with play. I've based my post on what the rule actually is, not on what I think it should be. There's even been situations similar to this where the offside player has come back on-side and then gone on to score from a shot which has come back of the post or keeper, and the goal has stood. It's been this way for several years, no point moaning about it now! If nobody moans about it and points out the deficiencies of the rule then it'll never be changed though will it. The rule is expecting a player in Wilson's position to either have eyes in the back of his head or have some sort of ESP in order to be able to make an informed decision about whether he should play the ball or not. It's ridiculous. Scholes out!

I'm still amazed at the number of fans who only seem to have the haziest idea about the offside rule. Welbeck made no attempt to play the ball or interfere (oo-er!) with a defender attempting to play the ball, therefore he was not active. He played no part in the goal. To those who say his presence forced Wilson to play the ball, that's not so. If Wilson had left it, Welbeck would not have been able to play it. It was a just a poor clearance by the defender. If we'd scored that goal I doubt if there would be one person on here trying to claim it was offside. Also, re the backpass - it was played off his thigh therefore the keeper can pick it up, as the ref clearly indicated to the Stoke players who queried it.

I started a thread about whether Fonzi should be in the starting 11 a little while ago.
General consensus was that it would be an idea to bench him for a game or two and see how we play without him. After the Manure performance it seems we were right. I'll be disappointed if MH puts him straight back into the team and his stock will go down a few points in my opinion too.

As I've said before I think Arnie just needs a bit of time to get used to the English game and get himself accustomed to how he's being asked to play offensively and defensively. He's going to improve further as he grows in confidence. We will have a player and a half on our hands.

Welbeck played no part in the goal. Absolutely no question of it being offside. If it had been the other way you'd all be saying it was no problem! They have more reason to moan about us getting a soft free kick from which we scored our first! FFS - the number of times we've been screwed by a ref this season - surely we don't need to make up controversy! We beat 'em regardless anyway! The ball Wilson intercepted was to Welbeck who looked offside, the ball then fell to whoever who played Van Persie in. It played a massive part in the goal. It should have been flagged imo (if Welbeck was off, from where I sit I can't tell). Bayern is correct. I watched it on a stream and the replays showed Welbeck was offside when the ball was played forward.

I agree. Wasn't Welbeck offside for their goal? He looked it MD and he was the reason Wilson played it, so he was interfering. If he wasn't then the lino was spot on, if he was off, he should have flagged. Welbeck was offside and I agree totally Bayern, his presence forced Wilson to play the ball. Play should have been stopped right there with a free kick to us, so no Manure goal
