I have to say that so far I have been totally underwhelmed by the activity of our 'crack scouting and transfer team'...seems like we haven't really moved on from the....lets see what drops for us during the window and if nothing does lets call Sunderland.
No doubt Cartwright is on a big fat earner...time to deliver big man and i dont mean the pizza!

The whole Cattermole thing was weird from start to finish.
Spinksy's "closing fast" stuff about 10 days before the window ended,then days of inactivity right through to the "done deal, very little chance of there being any problems from here" stuff we were getting from Spinks and Dorsett on deadline day.
Was a bid ever accepted?
Was he ever on his way to Clayton Wood?
Or was it all just smoke and mirrors?
You'd like to think there was some cunning grand plan involved with the various stages of the 'Sign Cattermole' operation from Corporal Cartwright and Sergeant Scholes.
There were suggestions we could've got him for £5m early in the window but tried to be smart and get a late discount.
Then stories that it foundered on Cattermole's refusal to budge without a pay-off.
Then you get the Sunderland spin from Poyet and Short.
Regardless, the end result looks bad having invested everything into the signing.

We don't need another central midfielder - our previous boss left us 3 quality players in that position + Ireland who is a winner from Hughes.
Under Hulis' tactics it is now coming together nicely and so luckily we may not pay a price for any such possible incompetence.

They may well be (& almost certainly are) negligent this window but a 4pm start would be late even for them?

Yet judging from Les's / Bowen's comments though, I'd like to bet we'll be back in for him in the summer.
