well its probably 6am and you should probably still be in bed ? No. Kicked off at 4.45. I got up early to watch. I recommend going back to bed and watching the 30 seconds of highlights on the news.

Why? If Wimmer had joined on a free transfer would the club have given us a refund on our season tickets? If he had cost £36 million would they have doubled the price of the pies? Why do we care what the transfer was? And if he had come on a free transfer wouldn't be everyone have been moaning about not spending enough? Note/ Not actually arguing that expectations aren't higher when a big fee is involved just wondering why the fans care it's not their money. Well in this particular case we went and spunked 18M on another central defender when we are in desperate need of a striker and wingbacks. Its not our money but it doesnt fill supporters with confidence that the management team have a clue when it comes to spending big. Also its not Wimmers fault he came with that fee. But yeah he has to live with the expectations. Same as Pogba at Man United, Bale at Real Madrid, John Stones at Man City. BIG FEEs increase expectations from supporters and the media whether it is right or not Well you are quite right we do have far too many central defenders.

I think when a player comes in at a pricetag of 18M then we are expecting a relative world-beater. 18M is a HUGE sum of money for Stoke Expectations will be higher Why? If Wimmer had joined on a free transfer would the club have given us a refund on our season tickets? If he had cost £36 million would they have doubled the price of the pies? I thought he was really good against Man Yoo. I haven't seen him in any other games bar that one and the game on Saturday. But he was pretty poor. He still defended like his life depended on it though when needed so that was good. But his passing was absolutely atrocious and he couldn't get off the ground when he was jumping. But he did look ridiculously unfit. I'd be really tempted to play him in the Checkatrade on Tuesday if he's not been called up to Austria. or let his hamstring recover?

I kept hearing they had the best transfer window but what a lot of pundits were forgetting is the fact those players have to operate in a Pulis system and we all know he only allows 3 or 4 players maximum to express themselves. Under Pulis, they'll never go down and they'll never get into Europe, in a nutshell. Unless they win a cup! You have to win now losing in the final no longer helps so no chance.

Having moved Wollschied out the fans really needed a defender to BOO! Wimmer seems to have been selected for this role.

The problem with this 'covering the cracks' nonsense (which appears in various guises after every victory) is the underlying assumption that a team like us will ever reach 'perfection'. We'll always be at least 2 pieces short of a complete jigsaw because as soon as it looks like we're getting there, a bigger team will come bulldozing their way in and nick our best players. People who seem to torture themselves on a weekly basis that the team isn't as good as they think it could possibly be are destined for a lifetime of disappointment, simply because what they're asking for is nigh-on impossible. Pick a season, any one from the last ten years, and you'll find that an issue existed with the team. It might have been an individual player, it might been an area of the team that wasn't functioning, but there will always have been something. That's because we are where we are in the football pecking order. We're a mid-table side who do some stuff well and other stuff badly at any given time, and it's been like this for a good while now. The trick to enjoying your time supporting Stoke is to enjoy the victories and to concentrate on the good stuff in the weeks when we do come away with 3 points. So after a hard fought 2-1 win over a good side, we shouldn't be whinging about this or that being wrong- we KNOW it isn't perfect, and it won't ever be. Instead, why not enjoy the fact that we have a bloke who's a converted striker playing brilliantly in a position we never thought he'd adapt to; that we have a guy at left-wing back who received dogs' abuse last year but is once again turning in consistent performances; that we have one of the best CBs EVER to pull on the red and white stripes in our team for this season; that the 3-4-3 formation many were so damning of is now delivering the goods for us and we look more settled than we have done for some time; that a bloke who was lauded as one of Europe's top talents is still in our team and seems to have recovered from the injuries that have so far blighted his time here? By all means have a moan when we've lost and the not-so-good aspects have been exposed, but WE'VE JUST WON FOR FUCK'S SAKE! ENJOY IT! That's not how it's done around here If we beat Man City 6 nil next month there will still be some on here moaning

Jack Zouma Wimmer Pieters Diouf Allen Fletcher Tymon Shaq Crouch Moting Wouldn't be happy that we're having to play Crouch but I can't see us getting a result if not. Out of interest when Crouch last score a goal after starting the game?

As with Wimmer - coincidentally another £18M buy - you cannot judge a player and his value to the club after a couple of games. They don't need two games around here one missed pass and they are writing players off.

True - he had more to do than Butland though (apart from getting the ball from the net on 4 occasions). He could have read a book for long periods. The ridiculous nature of the goals overshadow everything - but I find it hard to have a real go at them today. The majority of the players did well. Hughes is the problem. Zouma was ineligible, Wimmer, Shawcross and Cameron were injured what options did he have?

Yes he will be sacked if they don't improve Everton have high expectations and probably little patience Stoke have lower expectations and considerably more patience Don't think Everton's turnaround in Managers has been that drastic has it.?? Has It? Not under Bill Kenwright no. Under Moshiri things might change, I don't think they are going to spend £145 million and be happy with 18th place

Will Koeman be sacked - doubt it - his team have gone tits up without Lukaku who by all accounts was a lazy boy. The players are the team - they must take the blame for last nights debacle. And we need a bloody good striker. Yes he will be sacked if they don't improve Everton have high expectations and probably little patience Stoke have lower expectations and considerably more patience

There is a chap at Burnley who ticks the British box, ticks the Prem experience box and ticks the plays proper football box. He knows how to organise his team, how to defend corners and he can motivate his players. If we want to progress and not regress he is just the sort of man we can appoint. And he would not come to Stoke. Liverpool YES! But a sideways move to another midtable team not a chance.

The players fault ENTIRELY...Either they just didn't bother to turn up, or they went there with a touch of arrogance and underestimated Bristol......whatever it was, the players are the ones responsible for our shocking display last night!!! Hughes made only 5 changes, which 99.9% of us would have expected him to make, so he obviously went there with the intentions of fielding a relatively strong line up, plus the players on the bench, that was practically the whole of the first team bar Jese!!! If the entire first team had of played last night we'd have still lost, they were up for it, we weren't, the players need to take a good hard look at themselves!!! The manager will ALWAYS take the flack, but it's time the players did too!!! To be honest as we have very little chance of winning this cup I would have played as many "promising youngsters" as possible then they should be motivated (if not you don't need to waste any more time on them) and if you loose, well it was useful experience for them.

It was inevitable once these sort of allegations have been made there is no point in fighting them regardless of the truth. Especially in the ultra PC world of women's football. Should have just negotiating a pay off and tried to get a proper job.
Vale are looking for a manager.

Although we did come back to draw against the ManU no other team has scored against them in the league How long can we keep regurgitating this one every time we lose embarrassingly or put on a truely woeful display? Well at least a fortnight or perhaps until someone else scores against them

Fucking hell. Yeh we lost, disappointing yes, bloody move on. Ahhh, the good old sweep it under the carpet approach... It isnt just a defeat, it was a defeat... AGAIN... like last season... by a championships reserve team When we go a goal down everybody knows that we wont win the game, Hughes does not know what to do if we go a goal down. If we go a goal up, its very rare that we score another. The football we play is poor considering the talent we have in our squad. Although we did come back to draw against the ManU no other team has scored against them in the league
