Very important win but same story as last season all over again. Southampton would of had 3 or 4 if Gabbadini and Austin were on from the start. I pointed out time and time again to my dad how much space their players had. Redmond, Lemina, Soares etc all having an extra 2 seconds to decide what they were going to do with the ball. Our attack was as stale as ever. Shaqiri and Chupo often braking forward without any runners whatsoever leaving them to having to aimlessly run to nowhere. Berhaino's confidence must be lower than Palace's league position at this point. Our midfield might as well not even be there, Allen is the biggest fraud going running around like an excited Labrador who's just seen a squirrel run up a tree. Without the get out plan of Crouch I would really fear for this team. Can any Stoke fan seriously say they've enjoyed watching this team play football in the past couple of seasons ?

Why would they have scored if they were on from the start? I saw nothing to suggest they were any better than Long. Fletcher and Allen were OK for me, so much so, Lemina only stood out because of his hair.

I agree about Allen and Fletcher thought they both had decent games.

It was a poor game and I agree about how we don't move forward as a team well , we rely on individuals . But they showed good spirit and a much needed win .

We are not in a very different place to where we were last season but the defensive resources (when fit) are a bit better. If it is progress it's slow progress but I guess that may be all the likes of us can hope for. The footballs been a bit better if only because I've enjoyed watching Shaq have more influence this season.

I thought Allen had a great second half, awful in the first but his second half more than made up for it.

Put me in the easily satisfied camp. Out of interest when in your stoke city life have you've been satisfied? Two season ago when we played exciting football that was sublime to watch along with a half decent cup run

And apart from that spell, arguably our finest two-three months in our last 40 years?
You need to get a grip or realistic. We are plus six points on like for like games last year.

Every time we win, it is supposedly covering the cracks.

We played the second half like we thought we were 2 up. Trying to cruise at 1 - 0 is a dangerous idea. Still we did win, just about.

It will always be about 'covering up the cracks'.
Get used to it.
Much better than not covering them.

yes definately covering up the cracks, I mean its not as if they have spent the last 3-4 seasons outspending us or out performing us or owt like that is it, I mean god they were poor all over the pitch, and struggled to break down a back line of six defenders against Man U last week, and that lad with the blonde in his hair you know the one Lamina I think? that sprinted back from the half way line to deny us a superb goal second half, if thats what 25 million buys then....jesus christ papering over the cracks😂!

The footballs been a bit better if only because I've enjoyed watching Shaq have more influence this season. We have 3 more points than from the equivalent games last year and that’s with Newcastle for Hull. Team is still finding its way as Butland, Zouma, Wimmer, Fletcher, Choupo and even arguably Diouf were not regulars last year.

TBH when I saw the fixture list, I wasn't expecting any points at all at this stage of the season.

I'm thinking more performances rather than results - there are still some very familiar weaknesses but no complaints, we are working our way through a tough fixture list.

Last 2 seasons have been utterly fucking dreadful. This season has been a fair improvement, but as today demonstrated- we've got a long way to go. I can't tell if it's a attitude thing or What?

We won therefore I'm happy, simple. I really don't see the point in picking holes in the team when we've won, leave that for the manager.

"Last 2 seasons..." WTF? Last season wasn't great (though I'd say not as bad as Tone's last 2 seasons), but you'd really describe season before last as "utterly fucking dreadful"?? Really? I think you've self-edited your memories there, I really do
