Can remember a game at the Vale when he was just getting a name for himself with Take That. The game had finished and it was kicking off up and down Hamil Road. Robbie was waiting for a lift ( I assume) and was really keeping his head down trying to avoid any eye contact. A mate Stan(rip) who was a big feller with a bald head snuck up behind him and just shouted BOO as loud as he could. Robbie squeeled like a girl and ran as fast as his legs would take him up Hamil Road. It was funny as fuck ;D ;D

Superb day out, anyone else notice what seemed to be 2 or 3 Stoke fans "celebating" in the West Brom paddock right at the end, remember seeing it on Central News, one lad has a massive grin on his face ;D

Yes definately.
from what i heared during training Danny was heared to say that he didn't like Welsh Rarebit ( even though it's only cheese on toast with worcester sauce) Tony took offence (him being Welsh an all) and called him a tart, Danny called Tone a prat and they fell out big style, suffice to say Danny wil NEVER EVER EVER play for Stoke again because "Pulis fell out with Danny"

"This is probably the best Stoke team for anyone under the age of 30, but to compare them to the side of the early 70s - they dont even come close
The worlds best goalkeeper, a rock hard and rock solid back four, a superb midfield which included the best Stoke player I have ever seen (Alan Hudson), and my favourite Stoke player of all time (Sir Jimmy)
Wow - the memories, Cup Final, FA cup semis, Ajax, winning 2-1 at the Baseball Ground to really have me believing that we would be the BEST team in the country, and a Boothen End that absolutely buzzed and bounced with energy
Now the hairs on the back of my neck are really standing up"
Amen fella, to think at the time as you say we had the best goalkeeper in the WORLD, a midfield player far, far ,far ,far better than Gazza or anyone that comes to mind at the moment, and Sir Jimmy up front with Leader, Smithy, Jackie et al at the back, am in me 40's and can remember alot of these teams and matches, exiting times I hope especially with the addition of Tucay.

One of me mates is a HUGE Bolton fan and he has always raved about Abdy playing that midfield role, better than centre half he insists, conner wait, with Ryan and Huth behind him if anything gets past not going to concede too many( especially with Sorro behind them ;D ) defence looks nearly sorted down the centre. Full backs, some way to go but we play a system that may allow teams to get past the full backs and then cross into the land of giants where we win nearly everything ;D. We are in my opinion in need of a QUALITY midfield general, Abdy will do fine at the back, Tuncy will be the quality up front not sure about Wheelan, he could come into that role but all other positions have competition. Guess where the next transfer position may be for ,

Today at 15:30, Kenilworth_Stokies wrote:That game was an ace atmosphere. A tiny number of Exeter fans all wearing Bally flat caps in the Butler St paddock. An inflatable sex doll with ginger hair being batted around the Boothen to refrains of "Alan Ball, Alan Ball, Alan Ball..". Ironic cheers from the Stokies for the Exeter goals and any rare foray into our half. "He's here, he's there, he's every fucking where, he's Ashley Grimes". Wasn't that where Bally got covered in phlegm and coffee?
I was at the away game at Exeter when Ball was pelted with pasty and pie crusts which attracted a huge flock of seagulls it was hysterical! The local telly said they were the worst crowd scenes ever seen at St James park.We lost 2 1 as I remember Was Wigan away wasn't it ?

Any idea of which turnstyle it was ? If it was the turnstyle at the Bottom of the Boothen with the Paddock then would be interested, the amount of games I went through that gate and walked up into the Boothen........ on big games the sound would be immense before the teams even made the pitch, the hairs on the back of your neck, the goosepimples.... not that I made it before the kick off too often as I was probably still in the supporters club or the Vic. till 1 or 2 mins before kick off then went through to where I would meet all the old regulars behind the goal slightly to the right 3/4 up on the isle behind C. Fooking hell can't believe I miss the old ground so much, it will never be forgotten but, last season, the raw atmosphere, the intimidation, the sound , was fucking amazing, please everyone keep this up next season, don't rest on your laurells, make it even more hostile, just like the Vic was.

Keith Scott from left back, from the half way line, should have been a cross but it went sailing into the top corner of the Boothen End goal ;D ;D Every time ths fucker cleared it the Paddock would duck ;D ;D as it would ususally end up there , game was against Blackburn, think we one 4-2 with Garth Crooks getting a hatrick, one of which he knew little about as he was knocked out charging down the keeper as the ball twatted off his head into the goal ;D ;D ;D

Me and a mate got a lift as far as the M25 from me mates' mate who was going down south somewhere when Stoke were playing Millwall ( i think ) late '80's early '90's at a guess, it was definately a Saturday game if anyone can remember. Anyways we waited for best part of an hour trying to thumb our way to the match but no bugger stopped. It was at a time when we were both skint so we persavered instead of getting the train in After a hour and a half I was desperate for a piss so ran behind some bushes at the bottom of the hill we were stood on to relieve mesen. Just finished when I hear me mate Andy shouting me that we had got a lift. I go pelting up this hill to see this poor bloke pulling the passenger door shut clearly shitting himself at the thought of being mugged and fooking off. We ended up getting a taxi into somewhere and getting a train into London at turned 4.00 pm. Gave up on trying to get to the game and sought out some mates of mates who were in a band at the time and living down there. Ended up that night in The Marquee club where this band were playing. Was pretty pissed and sitting near a slot machine when this bloke with long hair loads of rings on his fingers and tattoos started playing it. Never thought much of it 'till one of the lads shouted to him "eh up Lemmy owat ?" Yup was Lemmy from Motorhead, a exiled Stokie, don't know if he supported Stoke at any time but always remembered his roots and had a good chat about "home", top night getting pissed in London. We also tried to hitch a lift to Barnsley away around the same time, either Boxing Day or New Years Day, remember having a bastard of a hangover and walking halfway up the D Road, but no bugger stopped so we went the pub instead

Another interesting fact that I am fairly sure I remember correctly was that the Brown family lived in Vickerage Road, Hartshill. I mentioned who he was transferred to in an earlier post on this thread. I hope I am right even though my brain is old.
Dougie used to live in Yoxhall avenue, don't know about Ray, but me old mate Noddy used to live there ;D
