Doug was a top bloke, used to live around the corner from him. Didn't he start Lads'n'Dads ? I'm sure he did....... How many on here used to play in a Lads'n'Dads team, I did , then went on to manage one. How many football league/premier players owe there livelyhood to him. Just think, nothing was in place for kids to play organised football before he set it up. People from all over the country saw and copied his template. A true insperation.

One of the best pints I have ever had was in Singapore. Had been in Bali for three weeks without any Guiness. Was stopping off for a night in Singapore on the way home and had heared of an Irish bar on Orchard Road. It was my mission to find said bar and drink her dry. Walked for what seemed like an age before finding her below a hotel, walked in to air conditioned heaven with Guiness on draft, and England live on the telly beating Luxemburg 5-0 ;D ;D ;D

Hate manure with a compulsive passion along with the arse, so obviously it's anyone who plays them. For people who say "but they are English".. tell that to the Shit fans from anywhere but manchester( or England) who fill their ground every week, chanting "argentina argentina" tossers and whannabies of the highest order.Compere them to us as fans, no contest. Will NEVER support them tossers.

Whenever Keith scored a goal he celebrated like Abdoulaye did after beating Blackburn ;D didn't seem to matter that we were 4 or 5 or 6 down ;D
was the Huddersfield match a night game when he ran the entire lenghth of the pitch to the Stokies on the old open terrace?

Garth for me, although Lee was hugely underated. It's late but i think I remember giving him loads of stick at a Sheff Wed?? game at Hilllsborough in a Mickey Mouse competition. Also remember the Leeds hatrick .One thing that always makes me think of Garth is the Boothen End chant of , clap clap, clap clap clap, clap clap clap clap, Garth Crrroooooookkkkkssssss , which used to echo around the ground. pmsl @ lordb ;D Anyone remember Garth's hatrick against Blackburn in '78/'79? his third goal?? resulting in him being knocked out cold?

cowardly wankers, if true, we go on about the Newcastle fans assaulting a woman before the cup game some years back, and us looking for revenge, and getting plenty, but if this is true then I am truelly ashamed. The thing is back in the day if any Stoke fan did anything like this, he would get the shit kicked out of him by Stoke, and I hope, if true they name and shame the cunt so he/they get whats coming.

Agree with Scouse about Millwall. The old ground was something else. Went a night match there maby a cup game, took the day off work and a few of us went down. The area around the ground was like a huge scrap yard, got there fairly early, dinner timeish and were able to have more than a few pints in a pub right next to the ground, can't remember the name of it, but we got some right funny looks from the locals, but no trouble. Think Teddy Sheringham and Tony Cascerino were playing for them at the time, tbh nowt happened that day but the undercurrent was there, and that is what makes for a cracking away day.

Proper pub, used it alot, mainly on way to match then after, after drinking in town, then on to the Supporters Club opposite the main entrance. 5 to 3 then on to the match.... not that I saw too many kick offs ;D Who were we playing at the Vic when some dickhead let off the CS cannister in there..... Joeinoz would have loved it, grown blokes blarting outside the pub trying to get some fresh air.... and there was snot as well ;D

One of my memories of the day was after the game outside the ground people everywhere going toe to toe punching seven shades out each other, when a helecopter came and hovered over the madness and a copper with a megaphone leant out of the side and said " will you please stop fighting" for a split second everyone stopped looked up and thought .....fuck that and carried on. Surreal it was, anyone else remember the helecopter?
