I remember in the 3rd some of the away followings were so tiny and the club would let you into the stoke end with your boothen season ticket. The atmosphere was really good, though it seemed to take something out of the boothen. Weren't we pushing for automatic promotion at this stage? then had a couple os shit home results where the wheels came off and we ended up getting kicked to death by Stockport Cunty in the play off's

Was in the Stoke End that day.
Remember it well. The Exeter number 5 had an absolute 'mare.
Forgot about Tim Steele.

Ohhhhhh Ronnie Ronnie, Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie Sinclair, we went through a spell of having keepers who could barely kick past the half way line and weren't quite six feet tall................Ronnie was toilet, though we still had Foxy on the books the rumour being who we'd never play as he had a huge lump sum on the way for 500 appearances ! great days

That game was an ace atmosphere. A tiny number of Exeter fans all wearing Bally flat caps in the Butler St paddock. An inflatable sex doll with ginger hair being batted around the Boothen to refrains of "Alan Ball, Alan Ball, Alan Ball..". Ironic cheers from the Stokies for the Exeter goals and any rare foray into our half. "He's here, he's there, he's every fucking where, he's Ashley Grimes". Wasn't that where Bally got covered in phlegm and coffee?

Cheers for the memories lads, i openly admit i can't go as much nowadays as i used too because of work/finances etc these were the times when i was there every week and i remember the sparse crowds we used to get in the vic. To think were we are now, it's unbelievable really, well done to pulis and everyone, keep it up lads. Plenty of memories to come over the season, good and bad.

Used to love watching games on the Stoke End that season. Absolutely gutting when Blackpool mugged us at the back end of the same season, think Trevor Sinclair might have scored.

These were the times that I most often went to matches...end of Mick Mills era, etc through to end of first season back in second tier. Work and marriage/kids prevent my visits nowadays. Great times but greater steps have been made, thankfully.
Tim Steele on loan from Wolves, I think. Wasn't this his debut for Stoke?
The coffee throwing incidents were at Exeter away, I think.
That Blackpool game was the season after. Our hiccup on the way to the title. Had the piss taken out of me for days by the local Blackpool 'fans' who also supported The Shit, Liverpoo, or whoever was doing well at the time. "Who put the ball in the Stoke City net, who put the ball in the Stoke City net, super Trevor Sinclair". Assholes!!!

It went tits up after that game. Bertie's suspension didn't help. It in the Exeter game where he got unfairly booked.

I remember Tim Steele, he was on loan (can't remember where from as I was only 9). I always remember playing Brentford at home and we won, he crossed the ball into the box the highest I have ever seen to land on a Stoke players head who scored the winning goal. We won 1-0. If I am wrong please correct me, like I say I was only about 9 at the time.

roro, Butler scored and we won 2-1. Brentford equalised and Stein scored after pouncing on a pary by the Bees keeper.

Cheers for that Oz, I remember winning and thought it may of been Butler, but couldn't really remember top of my head. Were Brentford top at the time as well? If not I am sure they were up there! After just watching the video it I now know who we had Tim Steele from. I think that site is going be a favourite of mine.

Think Dean Holdsworth played alongside him that day. Ws up for assault on a Torquay player (John Uzzel???) at one stage for deliberately injuring him I remember. Not sure what the outcome was. Was a great game

After that game it seemed inevitable we'd win the league. I was certainly convinced we'd go up....until the Chester disaster. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/aV1vRBg_y2NLG9ubeFHN.gif)
