It's amazing to see the way José reacts every weekend. Costa could get a red card in most matches, he's a niggle sort of player, take the time to watch him OFF the ball, he winds his marker(s) up all the time.
Comparing the way Stoke City are treated vs the way most other teams in the Premises is pointless. Rightly or wrongly most other teams are the catwalk models and Stoke are the Scrubbers. Sure, they look nice, but no one really wants them there.

I'm in block 29 and it was far too loud. Impossible to chat to people next to me unless we shouted. I say get rid of it altogether so we can start to generate a decent atmosphere. Is it so loud because of the Taylor Report or some other legislation does anyone know?

Tricky, like most stokies I think a toss up between manure and arsenal Arsenal pip it for me cos my loathing for them isn't natural or healthy I couldn't have said it better myself! I would add Swansea as well, mainly because Monk is such a media dahling...

I used to play this. You wouldn't believe how hard it can be to play football and not run!
It's more about the Community side really. If any 50+ year olds were thinking of giving it a go, you should. I certainly would again if my knees could take it. Occasionally you get to meet Stoke players. When I was playing Glen Whelan paid us a visit along with the Sky News TV cameras. just as I left there was talk of a league being created, so if you do decide to give it a go, you COULD end up representing the Mighty Potters!

I had a trial for the R.A.F. against Farnborough Town back in the 80's. What level that was I have no idea! I was a winger back in those days! I failed because I managed to break my Tib and Fib and fracture and dislocate my ankle too, hurt ever so much!

Since when has the FA allowed free speech? Lots of managers come onto both Sky Sports & MotD and say regularly that they can't respond to a direct question from the interviewer because they would drop themselves in the cart, and would then face charges from the spotlessly clean FA. Plus, it's easier to take action in this manner than try to combat cheating within the game itsself. The FA needs to look at itsself(sic) and start to use common sense, but alas, we all know this will never happen.

My Stoke City vs Manchester United summary.
de Gea - decent enough Evans - Dicey Smalling - VERY dicey Jones - dicey Rooney - hahahahaaa, shite Young - ineffective (Rafael - 75' ) ditto Mata - who? Shaw - absent (Januzaj - 64' ) ineffective Carrick - very quiet van Persie - whiner and marked out of the game Falcao - dirty twat off the ball a lot of very snidey fouling. (Herrera - 64' ) ineffective
Oliver - Excellent stopper, saved his teams blushes on many occasions.
Although the possession stats will show that the shite had more of it, Stokes possession was much more effective. On virtually every attack from them they were stopped by decent tackling and poor decision making from the away team(!). Rooney and van Persil were chatting to their number 12 at every and any opportunity. Obvious fouls for Stoke were totally ignored, even when they were happening mere yards in front of him. Excellent, but excellent work by Oliver, the shite were lucky to have him on the pitch. What looked like two 'good' penalty shouts were denied by Oliver. He came to the rescue several times, fine fine work from the chap. Overall it was a good match, Stokes back four were dealing with most of the attacks coming their way, whereas the shites backline were arguing amongst themselves, quite regularly. In the second half the away team started their tactic of diving whenever the opportunity arose. All in all Stoke coped quite easily at times and mopped up ninety percent of the attacks that were coming at them. It must be a very satisfying point for the away team, who, when questioned, looked nothing like previous teams from Old Tartford that have visited in seasons gone by. Long may it continue....
HAPPY NEW YEAR

MOTD

Post by JetBlack on Dec 14, 2014 11:02:41 GMT
It's important to try and get games that finish 11 v 11. If there are cheats in football it's the players and coaches, not the referees. The referee in the Chelsea game probably made one error, yet as usual MOTD and some on this board are vilifying him. The way to clean up the game is to support the officials and give them more help and lay the blame on the people responsible for the gamesmanship. But Geoff, aren't there already rules in place to combat diving and cheating? The help the officials need is just a set of splints for their lack of backbone. As previous posters have said, Referee's are great at dishing out 'punishment' to teams like Stoke etc but there does seem to be a definite lack of parity with the better thought of teams such as Chelsea, Liverpool et al. Happy Christmas to ya

We need to fear ourselves at times!! Our defending and team play as a whole at times can be Oscar winningly bad.
Yesterday though was fantastic, was that the fastest opening Premiership goal this season?

So Aguero was denied a penalty, the reason(s) as I see it are these; there are so many divers now that separating the 'real' fouls from the conjobs is getting more and more difficult. The Ref's Association or whatever their group is should come out and make a statement about future bookings for diving or the appearance of diving. Aguero made made such a drama of the foul that the Ref probably thought that he was faking it. The melodramatics need to stop too, but that will never happen as football teams are packed with cheats and Pansies who will go down if even a hair was out of place. This used to be seen as a foreign player thing, but sadly, more and more English players have started to con the Ref. The football shows like MotD and Sky Sports(football) could do a lot to eradicate diving and cheating from the game, but instead they choose to pander to the players and managers for fear of being banned by Clubs.

Like everyone else, I thought it was laugh out loud funny; "I draw the line at Port Vale" and very very touching, when his Mum's death finally hit him. The funniest moment for me was when 'he' was in the dressing room in a top hat and scarf giving the team the pre match teamtalk. Lou Macari was watching this with a look of annoyance on his face, after the team had gone he went over and asked "Was that an impression of me?" when Nello answered "Er, Brian Clough" the look on Macari's face was priceless. A fine film, even my wife was wiping away tears...

We're all great managers after the fact. So here's my punt. Adam should have been bought on for Nzonzi and Arnie for Bojan. Both of these players, especially Adam can turn a game. Adam can play killer passes AND isn't scared of shooting, Arnie's creativity could have gleaned us easier opportunities. It's all moot now though, we just have to hope that Hughesy takes my advice!!

Here are the fans we should single out!! To single out the more well known members of the teams could be counterproductive, as they may be used to getting 'stick' from the stands. Excepting my selections from the media dahling teams that is! I haven't included Villa because they've already visited our bear cage play pen.
I realised that for some reason they are nearly all midfielders aswell....!!
Liverpool - Johnson Man Utd - Phil Jones Chelsea - Hazard/Willian/Ivanovic (sorry, I couldn't decide on just one!) Arsenal - Giroud Man City - Zabaleta Tottingham - Kaboul Everton - Pienaar Sunderland - Van Aanholt West Ham - Tomkins QPR - Faurlin Newcastle Utd - Coloccini Crystal Palace - Dann Southampton - Fonte West Brazil - Mulumbu Swansea - Neil taylor Hull City - McShane Leicester City - Drinkwater Burnley - Trippier

It's a good idea, but, we(the fans) seem to be reacting now to what is happening on the pitch rather than the way we did in the early years of our premiership adventure. We have lost the siege mentality about the place. In my opinion it's been replaced with moans and groans, sometimes before a ball has even been kicked! A great idea though Rick, you can count me in for sure
