I see old jug ears thinks referees should ref the game based on reputation rather than what actually happens (His comments on Augero today).
Absolutely clueless. It's comments from imbeciles like him that means we get shafted.
He should be done for bringing the game into disripute.

Augero is not a diver and was chopped down today?

I think it's a fairly reasonable comment, because FIFA are too stuck in the past to implement technology to help all we have is logic. If anything bar Moses I'd think we would have a good rep for staying on our feet so would stand to win pens from this? soooo not sure how you figure we would get 'shafted'

So Aguero was denied a penalty, the reason(s) as I see it are these; there are so many divers now that separating the 'real' fouls from the conjobs is getting more and more difficult. The Ref's Association or whatever their group is should come out and make a statement about future bookings for diving or the appearance of diving. Aguero made made such a drama of the foul that the Ref probably thought that he was faking it. The melodramatics need to stop too, but that will never happen as football teams are packed with cheats and Pansies who will go down if even a hair was out of place. This used to be seen as a foreign player thing, but sadly, more and more English players have started to con the Ref. The football shows like MotD and Sky Sports(football) could do a lot to eradicate diving and cheating from the game, but instead they choose to pander to the players and managers for fear of being banned by Clubs.

Or was it just his reputation that meant he got penalised?

And which Saturday/Sunday night football show would be in pole position to decide which players were given reputations?
I'm fairly sure that's what's happening anyway. Which player should referees be watching most at corners? Which player dives a lot in the box? Just watch MotD to find out.

Until they get video help, reffing based on reputation is the best help they have to get decisions like that right. Aguero has dived/made the most of minimal contact a few times this season so the ref is going to have that in his mind, and i agree with it.
I'd sooner a player gets a wrongful booking for diving than winning a penalty for a clear dive.

I've only seen one worse 'defo penalty' not given than the one not given today and that was the one on Moses against Newcastle. Was Garry fucking Monk involved?

Referees should never, ever, ever make decisions based on a player's reputation. As for the penalty, I think I'd prefer to see more players incorrectly booked for diving with the benefit of the doubt going to the defender, than have attackers profit from diving on a frequent basis, as they do now. Obviously, the real preference is for referees to actually make the correct decision.
I think the laws surrounding penalty kicks are well overdue for a proper review, though. Players have been playing for penalties for too long, whether they knock the ball too far ahead of themselves and throw themselves at a defender, wait until they're in the box and throw themselves to the floor or kick their own leg. I wonder if a penalty should only be awarded if the player is denied a clear goalscoring opportunity. If not, the attacking team have the choice of an indirect free kick from the point of the foul, or a free kick from anywhere they like outside the box.

Augero is not a diver and was chopped down today? I agree with half. He was chopped down but I've seen him hit the deck easily in the past.

Anybody think he was on his way down before getting chopped, both his knees had 'buckled' and hi toes were pointing at the ground?
