I think we should be confident going into the Man U game, not just because of our form but because how Man United are playing.
I could hardly believe their line-up yesterday included Rooney, Mata, Falcao & van Persie in the middle. The only 'holding' defensive player they had on the park was Carrick.
Now if van Gaal plays that team against us we should be able to dominate midfield with Whelan/Nzonzi/Bojan vs. Carrick/Rooney/Mata.
Just dont like the look of their team at all. van Gaal is being fooled into putting all his attacking riches onto the pitch at the same time. Falcao and van Persie are finishers and not really creators. Stop the supply line and I would put us as favourites at home against them

Get at their fullbacks

yeah Ashley (i like a dive) Young is not and never will be a full-back. A bit of trickery or a John Walters barrelling down the wing should get past him easy. I think they are in a false position in the league table Shit centre-halves as well

If we can keep a clean sheet we will win. They are a defensively poor team surviving because of their ability to score.

If they use the same line up against us, and we play like we did in the first half against WBA, we'll be murdered within the first 20 minutes.
I was scared to death each time WBA got the ball, as they out numbered us every time, and no one picked up the WBA players who was just outside our box. Against a good team we would have been punished badly. At that time our midfielders was on the wrong side of the players they were supposed to mark. N'Zonzi and Whelan were far to high up on the pitch without tracking back fast enough.

I do think it will be close though .

If Man Utd can convert such chances then we will struggle on Thursday However if we turn up with the 'Arsenal mentality" then they are very beatable Diouf in the middle may have given MH something to think about - the real game changer Bojan needs to be available - although he didn't play in the team that won away at Man City! Walters for Crouch would be the only change for me

We need Walters and Arnie to stop the full backs coming forward, just like they did v Everton. A bit more of them in the opposition attacking third would be nice, as well, mind. The key area will be whether Carrick can keep Bojan quiet and Whelan can do likewise with Rooney. Diouf must start up top, we need his pace.

I dont wanna be a doom monger but I cant see anything other than a Man United win........ . Just being honest fella The way Rooneys playing at the moment, hes the one to target I reckon and try stopping. Then we might have half a chance 0 -1, or 0-2 Happy New Year !!

Certainly a game for Walters! Get him and Diouf man marking and chasing down everything for a start. Young is definitely a full back Walters can bully as well, put him on the deck as often as possible.
I think Bojan can open up the defense, would have liked Moses back for it though!
As with Arsenal, I think the atmosphere will be crucial as well.

There is an annoying problem with playing them. If you attack them, their defence is third rate and you could score a hatful quite easily. However, giving any room to their very good array of attackers will result in conceding hatfuls as well. We got the balance wrong at Old Trafford.
If we were able to put out a forward line of Moses, Diouf and Arnie then I would expect us to take them apart.

Need Bojan to be fit for this, really fancy him running at their defence and causing problems, should open up space for Diouf/Arnie/Walters in the wide positions to take on their "wingbacks". If he doesn't play we're going to have to adjust massively and probably play Adam through the middle.

Was expecting you in the London Bridge along with a couple of others Rooney is on form Ill give you that. But I honestly think Nzonzi would give him the runaround in midfield because its just not Rooney natural position. If he gets in the box then he can do damage.

Hit Young hard early on. Make sure someone stays with Rooney all the time, and we might just win!

As others have mentioned West Brom were opening us up relatively easy yesterday. Fair play to them, they came out and attacked, but the quality simply wasn't there for them.
We afford that kind of space, time and opportunity to the Man U front line, they will score at least 2.
Tricky situation for the coaching staff as to how to approach this game. I'm really not sure myself.

Manure looked very tired in their game against Spurs and I reckon we'll take the 3 points if we close them down at every opportunity and don't give away an early goal.
