Interesting to see how Chelsea consistent diving gets 30 seconds of highlight. Moses goes down under some contact and has a character assassination courtesy of those fucking muppets.

I feel like the studs up challenge sometimes gets a rough deal. If you're trying to win the ball and/or disrupt a pass having a large surface area of the sole of the foot is the instinctive thing to do. If you're going with one leg, along the floor horizontally, as Kieron Richardson was, there should be more room for referees to exercise clemency.

More needs to be made of diving in the media though, seriously. It's far beyond embarrassing, it's making football a farce. Find it hard agreeing with Dan y Murphy but the FA need to be militant against it. Hit players hard with bans and they'll soon pack it in.

Danny Murphy is a clown, isn't he? I'm watching a recording of the programme and after the Brazil-Villa game he says that everyone enjoys a game with an edge where the players are fired up and the tackles coming in.
Are we talking about the same Danny Murphy who complained about players being fired up before games and making tackles?

It's stuff like that we don't see in REAL TIME and it shows how much we appreciate the work he does. top athlete is SJW. It also gives you an idea of the work the coaching staff put in preparing players for individual games - and from the analysis shown, it also shows what happens when players fail to do their job correctly! That analysis said At the start of the game Bolasie was running riot because Walters and Bardsley weren't doing their job correctly, but come the second half (no doubt after a half time bollocking) they did their jobs right and Bolasie 'laughed no more".

It's important to try and get games that finish 11 v 11. If there are cheats in football it's the players and coaches, not the referees.
The referee in the Chelsea game probably made one error, yet as usual MOTD and some on this board are vilifying him.
The way to clean up the game is to support the officials and give them more help and lay the blame on the people responsible for the gamesmanship.

After a game a ref should be able look at video evidence and if appropriate an after game red card and two week fine implemented. It should all be done to emphasize the technology is to support the ref not to undermine the ref.

Cahill dived, Moses dived the disparity is in the reaction of the media in general, will there be widespread calls for a retrospective ban for Cahill we will see, as for the Referee's the problem stems from the inconsistent manner they apply the rules of the game, it appears that high profile clubs and players are in general treated more favourably than less high profile clubs and players, if this is not the case how does Wayne spud head stay on the pitch most games as using foul and abusive language to officials is an offence dealt with by a card of some colour.

That's bang on mate I saw him in a televised game recently and there was a close up of him after a decision didn't go his way. He quite clearly shouted "Fucking wanker" with his face contorted in rage. As the camera panned out it showed the referee standing no more than 5 yards away and they were both looking straight at one another. It was clear he was shouting at the ref. When I played that was a straight red and I don't think the rules have changed. If the refs knew they would be properly scrutinised and retrospective punishments doled out they might be tempted to fairly interpret the rules during the game.
