Surprises me that we’ve had enough ‘competitive spirit’ in the past 5 years to come on to FA”s radar that many times. Much ado about nothing but it keeps some people in a job.

It’s a bit disturbing when photographs from your own youth look like exhibits from a museum 😟

Don’t think we ever properly recovered from losing that first game back in 1888.

I know it’s a cliche for someone of my generation to think the game has gone backwards , become tedious, predictable, and lacking in any sort of character ......... but , sadly for me I suppose , I genuinely believe this is the case. I'm the same, I love Stoke and the passion I have for the club will always stay the same. But football in general? I'm not anywhere near as interested as I was say 10-15 years ago. I suppose that's life, I'm over 40 now with a house, partner etc. 15 years ago I was a different person! But football just doesn't interest me as much. I often find games boring, I don't think it has the characters it used to and I find this obsession with playing out from the back weird. Like last night, I could have watched the Spurs game but just couldn't be bothered to tune in. I used to know every player in the PL, now I honestly couldn't name you Man City or Liverpool's starting XI. Yep that sums it up for me. I pay for Sky Sports but the football (other than Stoke or anything directly effecting Stoke) is the last thing on the agenda as far as I’m concerned.

As above - a few stupid individual errors are the difference between him being derided (by some) and being a bit of a hero.

It would be interesting to see what Campbell looked like in a good team. His ability to finish but do not a lot else might still turn him into an absolute hero. Sadly his lack of achievement here and his injury problems have probably knocked that opportunity on the head - at least at this level. The move to Rangers that was touted a while back would probably be ideal.

Relegation should cause minimum disruption to all three clubs - they have planned and budgeted for it. I think it’s going to be yet another incredibly tough season - we are going to have to progress enormously just to finish in the top 10.

It’s for the best - Blues were much more likely to put a stronger side together next season than Argyle (and they are a fairly horrible club).

To me Thompson is a no brain contract extension. A degree of versatility and good attitude make him a Championship squad necessity.

Yep I would add my congratulations to those who continue to do the hard yards of travelling and supporting a club that has been in decline for so many years. I’m glad that days like today give you some reward.

I know the money is fantastic but it must also be so great to be a footballer and know you have the capacity to bring a bit of joy to youngsters like this heroic (and wonderfully polite) lad. To roll out a cliche - it puts all the other football stuff into much needed perspective. Well done to all involved.

It was just abysmal - further analysis is futile other than to observe changes in management seem to make difference at all at this club.

Ironically in the city of ‘Hibernian’ Hearts are the bigger club. Although this probably depends on the support they draw in from the Lothians. Does'nt Edinburgh have 3 teams? Hibs Hearts Edinburgh City ( Bottom of Scottish League 1) as we speak. I think City are the latest version of what used to be Meadowbank Thistle. You can also add The Spartans in League 2 to the list.

I’ve got family in Dundee - none of whom have the slightest interest in football - but from the time I spent there talking to locals I certainly got the impression Dundee were considered the grand old traditional club while Utd were more the ‘upstarts come good’. Always seemed to be more Utd supporters around though. As with all of Scotland there were a depressing number who just focused on the Glasgow clubs. Defo mate - Dundee is just about big enough for 2 teams but nae chance 4 and the number of buses leaving on match days watch the gruesome twosome is sole destroying. That's before you even get to the full kit Liverpool/ Man City/ etc wankers whose affiliation must come with their Sky Sports package. It’s everywhere up there - I used to work in Edinburgh , two doors down from the Celtic club shop and in the next street to the Rangers one 😕 Mind you on a positive note I’m told both have closed down in the past few years .

Dundee and Dundee United is an interesting one - Dundee historically were the bigger team. Dundee Hibernian (means Ireland) nearly went out of business in the 1920s and changed their name to Dundee United in order to appeal to a larger catchment. They then dotted about the lower leagues until 1960 where Jerry Kerr got them up and established in Division 1. In comparison Dundee were only relegated twice from 1893 to 1975 and were promoted immediately the season after. They won the league in the 60s and then got to the semi finals of the European Cup under one Bill Shankly. United then grew through 70s, won the league in 82 and came close to winning the UEFA cup. Dundee by late 80s were on the slide and got relegated then yoyo'd from there and at the moment United are probably in the same cycle. Both have the same major honours: one league; 2 FA Cups and; 2 league cups. Dundee record attendance is 45k v Rangers in 1953 whereas United's is 28k v Barcelona but could have sold out multiple times over. Would say from a fanbase perspective Dundee are typically more city orientated whereas United are probably more the suburbs and Broughty Ferry as a generalization. I’ve got family in Dundee - none of whom have the slightest interest in football - but from the time I spent there talking to locals I certainly got the impression Dundee were considered the grand old traditional club while Utd were more the ‘upstarts come good’. In Scotland the Glasgow and Edinburgh clubs rivalry is based on religious sectarianism bollox but Dundee clubs are not. How many, if any, English clubs have the same sectarian rivalry? It used to be though - Dundee Utd were Dundee Hibernian.

How many cities have two clubs? Stoke Liverpool Manchester Birmingham Nottingham Glasgow Bristol Dundee Hibernian Falkirk Does London inner city have two clubs, I know Chelsea has, but is that a borough, and do they count? Ironically in the city of ‘Hibernian’ Hearts are the bigger club. Although this probably depends on the support they draw in from the Lothians.

I doubt anyone has a clear idea of what a TD is required to do - especially as it probably varies from club to club. If the role is fundamentally orientated to stuff that happens on the pitch SJW seems as good a choice as anyone. He’s committed , down to earth , and a decent communicator. He’s also a bit of a comfort blanket for us to hold on to knowing that at least someone involved in day to day proceedings knows what ‘good’ looks like in terms of SCFC. Give it a go I say.

Oldest football rivalry I believe mate that one. Along with West Brom v Wolves Apparently back in the day there was no such rivalry - West Brom and Villa were the rivals. Wolves had to make do with their insignificant Staffordshire rivals ...... you know who.

Clearly you seem to think that Stoke's history began in the Premiership. The Coates family delivered 10 of the best years supporting Stoke. Football is cyclical. We are in a lean patch. We will return to the Prem sooner or later. As we have done (top flight) throughout our entire history. We will fall backj again. As we have done throughout our history. How the fuck have you come to that conclusion?😂😂 Am I wrong that we’ve been in terminal decline for 7 years despite having some of the richest owners in the country? A major point is that the decline is not ‘terminal’ as long as the Coates family own the club - it probably would be with most of the other fly by night financiers that populate the EFL ownership ranks.
