That FA Cup final against City seems a lifetime ago. Absolutely gutted at how awful we are, this is going to be a long season.

Come out of work to check my phone less than 15 mins ago to see its 2-0 Stoke, decide to listen to a bit of it on the radio on the drive home. We then concede three bastard goals before I've pulled up on the driveway!!!

Time travelling love rat Gary Sparrow. He could sneak Neil Franklin, Frank Soo and Stanley Matthews back with him on the sly.

Allerdyce has to be the most appealing short term, definitely has the best CV for the Championship. Moyes is another gamble at this precarious position in the league. We need somebody who can make an immediate difference and I have my doubts with Moyes.

I'd say last night is the wettest I've ever been. Ever. no way ,blackpool away years ago ,it didn't rain it was just a giant wave came crashing over blackpool lol ,bought a giant brolly,it lasted 5 min then it got blown into the paddock ,kept seeing it popping up all over the ground ,even had to ring my socks out when i got back the car Haha fantastic! I wasn't at the Blackpool match but last night I was totally unprepared. I made the schoolboy error of wearing new blue jeans too, so that today I still have Smurf legs that have been indelibly dyed

A few times though the outfield players just weren't quick enough in getting forward and out there. I saw him shrug at the crowd a couple of times and in fairness I can't fault him, if there's nobody to chuck/kick a ball at then what are you going to do?

6*
First half an hour was League One quality, the last twenty minutes was Premier League.
When we play with urgency we look a good team, but too many times last night we looked devoid of ideas in the build up play. I thought we looked better when trying to play it on the floor, as opposed to the diagonal long balls to nobody we tried a few times.
I still feel like Rowett is trying to find an identity, but I'm quietly confident he'll do it sooner rather than later.

It's less to do with dickheads and more to do with loyalty. Over our Prem years we signed the likes of Pennant who has shown himself on Big Brother to be a bit of a plank, but he never appeared to act like Stoke owed him a favour for putting on the red and white.
As the seasons went on we quite rightly looked for better, more exciting players to take us to the next level, but in doing so we were taking on players that saw unfashionable Stoke as a stepping stone to Champions League football.
The "dogs home" mentality worked to our advantage, we put our arms around players and offered second chances, which in turn meant players were truly grateful to the club and management, and you could tell that the players genuinely loved the club they played for, creating such a fantastic team spirit in the Pulis/Early Hughes years. That was missing in the most part over the last few season, and still is now from what I've seen on the pitch.
We appear to have turned into 11 skillful (in the most part) footballers on a pitch, as opposed to a team. That's been our downfall in my opinion, not dickheads.

It won't effect the newer fans but may have a negative effect on kids getting into the club at school age. Growing up in the mid 90s wasn't very fun for me being the only Stoke fan at School (went a school in Crewe), watching us go down with Man City while all my mates were still buzzing from their promotion trip to Wembley in the Championship. Wouldn't swap it for the world mind!

He's an experienced leader that has played and captained at the highest level domestically and internationally. He is joining as a squad player for a very long and difficult campaign.
I'm pretty happy if it happens.

I'd like to see Liverpool win it for no other reason than Klopp (I just really like him). As for the drop I can't see past Huddersfield along with maybe Cardiff and hopefully Southampton.

So if what has been vaguely hinted at by Davesviews occurs and we end up letting Crouch go and bringing Gallagher in, would we be happy? I can personally see Crouch doing a job at this level even though he is pushing for a bus pass in Footballer years. Gallagher is young and tall but doesn't inspire me, had 1 in 4 for Blackburn and considerably less for everyone else.

Without seeing what goes on day in and day out at CW I can only go by what I've seen from press clips and releases from training.
He's looking quite sharp and the fittest I've seen him in a Stoke shirt, he's scored a goal (appreciate it's meaningless in a friendly) and has teams mates coming out in public having his back (which is a massive change to seeing him sat on his own in the canteen during last year's piece that Lambert did "behind the scenes").
If he's ever going to prove himself for Stoke it's going to be this season surely. The Championship is by no means an easy league, but you'd hope he has it in his locker to cause issues for some of the less established clubs in the league at least and could be a useful squad player with the amount of games we will be playing.

I'm hoping age will be on our side, we have a team that have played less regular season football and less tournament football (Croatia looked dead on their feet during the last few minutes of last night).
If we can keep a high tempo we will break them down, it'll be close though.

Gareth must feel like a kid at Christmas really. He is in a totally win win situation. Fail today and the majority of media and fans will still be singing his praises. "Young team" , "promising signs", " building for the future" etc etc. Beat Colombia and we are looking at our most successful campaign in years.
I have to admit, I think we can do really well, and I believe even if we do fail tonight, it's still looking good for the Euros and the next few years. Good time to be an England supporter.

You can play friendlies without signing can't you? I seem to remember Wayne Thomas playing for us against Nantwich Town a few years back while he was training with us, although I'm possibly making that up! Anyway, if he can then got to be worth a run out if we are considering it.
