If it ends like this I can see Nigeria giving France a proper game in the next round.

How many millions do you think we have saved ourselves signing this lad before the World Cup? Looks a great bit of business.

Solid Championship level winger with high levels of energy. Will add competition into an area we need to strengthen. If he was our only winger signed this window then I'd be worried and disappointed, however if we being another one or two in, say Hoillet (EDIT - Or a similar type seeing as he has literally just signed a new contract with Cardiff) and a loan from the Prem or abroad etc then I'm more than happy. Seems a grafter and has passion, something we've been lacking of late.

I'd be more than happy with this. Doesn't break the bank and we'd have a young, versatile player who has experience (albeit limited) of both top flight football and the Championship. Even bagged a couple of goals for a side that was in free fall. Highly praised by previous coaching staff and managers. All round solid Championship signing and will hopefully be a great addition to the squad if it happens.

If it was a repeat of the last couple of seasons then no, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it personally! Well your expectations are probably too high then and we're back to the point I made earlier ... would you prefer to be at, or near the top of the table in the Championship or nowhere near the top of the table in the Premiership? No matter what league we play, I feel that I just want my team to compete. My issue with the last 2 seasons was the absolute toothless displays and the complete lack of entertainment on the pitch. Even when we were finishing bottom half of the table in the Prem we were still playing some great matches and beating some top teams. As a team we just lost that "spark" and no matter how next season goes it'd just be nice to have it back.

I''m going to enjoy this season and thus far I'm enjoying relegation, it's not really a conscious or logical decision but I'm having a decent time of it and I'm not going to look for reasons for that to change So you wouldn't have enjoyed next season if we hadn't been relegated? Come on. If it was a repeat of the last couple of seasons then no, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it personally!

I definitely feel my batteries have been recharged so to speak. I will be honest but over the last two years I've been a terrible supporter, the thought of driving down the A500 to watch us get humiliated week in and week out was just depressing me as a football fan. I'd started walking across the road and watching Nantwich Town instead.
Now suddenly I'm excited again. I'm excited about playing a new set of teams, I'm excited about the players we are signing and the coaching staff we are getting in place, I'm excited about being the Billy big bollocks of the league (at least for this year!).
I wish we hadn't have been relegated, but at the same time perversely glad we did.

Realistically if Stoke had stayed up this year we would be looking at getting him some game time somewhere. It wouldn't be unrealistic for us to have tried to loan him out to a Championship club, now we ARE that club I'd more than happy to give him a chance.
The issue is though is what's he like in training and with the rest of the team? Obviously there are the well known stories of him coming in the wrong day etc etc but what's more telling is stuff like the video of Lambert backstage that they made the first couple of weeks he was there which shows Berahino sat on his own in the canteen away from the rest of the team. If the rest of the team have give up on him then there is no hope and he needs a fresh start somewhere. Saying that, buying half a new first 11 may help!

So far so good, but then I was wowed by Lambert's first few pressers so I'll let the transfers do the talking for now.

Pulis Pulis Pulis ffs sake ,Rowet is after his own type .please tell what a pulls type is because he bought that many players in while at Stoke I am unsure what type a Pulis Type is Big, strong target man. Hard running, direct winger Fast, athletic forward. Domestic players he knows will do the job at this level who aren't necessarily sexy. Don't know why it was taken as a disparaging comment? The 'P' word has a power all of its own, it seems Yes, not sure why the "Pulis Type" player is taken as a derogatory term. No matter what you thought of his tactics, it's the lack of Pulis type players in the squad that lead to our downfall in my opinion. Too many lazy arses in the squad.

So what I've decided on is doing the envelopes, and then I'll open them all along with some "official adjudicators" once they are all sold, just hope I don't get Brazil so it looks like a fix!
I've gone for £5 a ticket and going to pay out for top 4 by splitting it;
£80 £50 £20 £10
Next tournament though I'm definitely going to look at adding other elements like some have suggested on this thread so keep the ideas coming if anyone has done theirs any other way!

Mornings Stokies.
So I'm doing the Sweepstake in work. In the past, for the Euros etc, I've just got people to pick a team from the hat. This year though the teams aren't particularly "sexy", and if the first few people manage to pick out Brazil, Germany etc then I'm going to be left with a hat full of unsellable tickets like Peru (no disrespect to any Peruvian Stokies that post!).
So how is everyone else running theirs? Is it worth putting each team in a sealed envelope for example and just getting people to pick/sign an envelope until they are all sold? Are there any other ways to do it?
Also what's a decent stake to bet, I'm going to go for £5 a ticket, but not quite worked out how we are going to split the pot. I assume there is a 3rd place playoff this tournament as per usual?
Help me fellow Oatcakers, you're my only hope (well, you and Google).

Good luck Sobhi. Shame it didn't work out, there's a player there somewhere. Would have been nice to see him take the Championship "behind the factory of chairs" with Stoke 😂

Imbula

Former Toulouse manager not complimentary.. www.ladepeche.fr/article/2018/05/28/2806385-exclusif-pascal-dupraz-raconte-coulisses-saison-tfc.htmlYou do not deprive yourself of scratching some players, like Giannelli Imbula. You write that he is apathetic, he walks in training, and took extra pounds ...But you had to see him warm up. There were two studs ten meters apart, but he was only running five ... This kind of behavior is very energy-intensive. Between the problems of punctuality or disrespect, this year, I almost never did my coaching job. But if a player like Imbula did not perform well, why did you play him?It was a commitment from me at the beginning of the season: if you come to the TFC, it's to play. And I have only one word. After that there is not only Imbula. Some did not make the progress that we had the right to expect. All of this is one of the reasons that led me to make the decision to leave the club. I had health problems and I did not see why I would have left my skin on the ground for players who do not care. Well he sounds even more of a dickhead than I thought he was when he was at Stoke. Who the hell is going to want to take him now!?

We need some fighters in the squad. It's so glaringly obvious that we lost so much from the dressing room and club after loosing the likes of Whelon, Walters and Huth. McClean looks like he's going to fit this bill. OK he won't be universally loved by us like the previous 3 I mention, and that's putting it mildly. But he is a scrapper, and the type of player who would fight for us until the final whistle of every game.
If this move happens then I completely see the logic behind it, so long as we back it up by looking at more creative scoring players like Vydra etc then I think it'll be a good move and he may surprise a few fans.

They have a secret prohibition era cocktail bar called Cotton Club which is pretty good. Nice couple of craft beer / real ale pubs too. All in all a pretty good night out in fairness, second only to Nantwich in Cheshire East I'd say.
