Butland New RB Shawcross BMI New LB/Muniesa Allen New MF Shaqiri Bojan Arnautovic BerahinoI have a gut feeling that we'll be chasing a new right back, even with Bardsley and Johnson being given new contracts. I don't think this is far off. I put on another thread, something very similar. Butland New RB Shawcross Bruno New LB Sobi Allen New CM Arnie Shaq Berahino This first 11 would be very competitive imo. Subs from: Grant Bardsley Johnson Cameron Muniesa Affelay Sweeney Souter Ngog Diouf Crouch Walters Campbell Verlinden I'd sell Adam and Whelan, but keep Walters. Crouchy is still a good plan B. There will be more academy players to add but I'm not that upto speed with who's doing that well.

Excellent post, and imo, very near the mark.
It's been a frustrating season, because we've been on an upward curve since Cardiff 2002, but this year has seen us stand still.
I still think that if we'd beaten Arsenal , Man City and Liverpool at home, but lost to Palace, Hull and Boro, then many people would have been happier because we'd bloodied a few top six noses. Same points but from different teams, but I'm sure people would have been thinking differently

I think Manure have been relying on a 35 year old all season haven't they? You are not comparing Crouchie to Ibrahimovic surely? I don't think anyone has an issue with Crouch, but does anyone really think that putting our hopes on a 37 year old to lead the attack next season is a progressive move forward? Not at all, just pointing out that age is pretty irrelevant if you're still good enough 😉

It is better but irrelevant given that its end of season game. Did you think the Liverpool game in 2015 was irrelevant? 😉

I think that Jose, who knows a bit more about footy than thay an may, would disagree 😉 Of course he would but Jose has just spent nearly 200m on players and finished sixth so yeah. Man Yoo look a much better side with Rashford in there. All about opinions I guess. It's just that yours is wrong 😊

It's not personal with Crouch. Supporters complain because we rely on a man of his age. Totally understandable when you consider we are a Premiership team. I think Manure have been relying on a 35 year old all season haven't they?

Thank christ this is the last team thread of the season and I won't have to read the tirade of bitching and moaning no matter what side the manager picks. Truest statement of the season!

"Players like Marko Arnautovic and Xherdan Shaqiri, your flair players, have only scored against teams below Stoke in the table, but it's against the top sides that players have to prove their ability." The weekly dig. The man's obsessed. I agree! Loved Pej as a player, but he seems really bitter against Stoke at times. He's probably forgotten how Arnie and Shaq tore both Manc clubs and Everton apart last season. Selective amnesia I think. Don't get me wrong, this summer has to be a good god one for Stoke, and there's a lot of sorting out to do. But to just snipe from the sidelines like Pej does for his employers just makes him come over like a bitter ex pro, which is a shame. Maybe Barry Mcgraham sets an agenda for him!

Similar to a lot of the previous posters, I think something like this should be our first 11 next season: Butland New RB (Young, aggressive, pacy) really don't know a right back which would improve us Shawcross Bruno New LB (As per RB) Charlie TaylorRamadan Allen New Midfielder (Delph?) Mario LeminaArnie Shaq Saido I think as first 11, that gives us what we're looking for, and it's got balance. Bench: Grant Cameron Sweeney Afellay Crouch Diouf Ngoy I think Whelan, Walters, Adam, Muniesa, Bardsley should be moved on. Bojan, Joselu, Souter, Johnson & Pieters will give further cover. + Shenton und VerlindenJust my opinion, and I could be a mile off! Let Crouch and Johnson go and keep Bardsley and Muniesa and i would go with this. Looks good mate. Who was the RB playing for Fulham tonight?

Add a decent central midfielder then it looks so much better. They need to be much fitter though and a really tough pre season is an absolute must for me. My worry is the manager and the chairman don't seem to think much is wrong. If we put Rose & Walker into our existing team, it would make a world of difference! I 've never been a fan of chopping and changing managers, and I truly believe that Hughesy is as frustrated as us fans, even though he has contributed to a flat season. I would hope that MH and many of the players would be honest enough to front up and see that we have badly under performed. Anyway, whats done is done, what's important now is to put it right for next year. And my punt above would, I think work, but lets see what happens this summer

Like a few others have mentioned, I think we should be:
Butland
New RB Shawcross Bruno New LB
Sobi Allen New CM Arnie
Shaq
Berahino
We should build a team around Shaqiri, we have to keep him fit, play him behind the front man and let him pick the passes like he has done the past two games. He made the goal v the dippers, made one for Arnie on Saturday and put another on a plate for him and then scored a worldy.
This first 11 with players like Grant Cameron Muniesa Walter's Crouch Adam Johnson Peters Whelan and several out of the academy putting pressure on would be good.
Coatsey will want to see academy players coming through and being given a chance. As a rule of thumb, from concept, I think it's around 10 years before you see the effect of the academies, especially for a club of our size. So I think this will be on this summers agenda when PC TS meet with Hughesy.
I think to get to the starting 11 mentioned above, we're looking at approx £30m to bring in three quality players. This is small beer in premiership terms and we'll need to invest this much just to consolidate because that's the world that SCFC operate in nowadays.
Just my opinion of course 😊

We've got way too higher opinion of ourselves. Unless we're massive underdog's or there's a bad tackle or decision against us, then it's been like this for years. By years, I mean for as long as I can remember. Maybe its the 10,000 vale fans amongst us (As mentioned on another thread)

He's the right man for the club. Whether we like it or not, the absolute highest we could get to would be 7th and we've been knocking on the door of that since MH came in.
I was there in the 70s and saw the great players we had. We only had a few seasons of relative success, and only one where we pushed to win tbe league. Two seasons after that we were relegated. The Point I'm making is the we've consistently come close to our league table potential under MH. Yes, I'll happily agree there's been many ups and downs along the way, and we all get frustrated. But we will have seasons where we drop slightly, this will be be one of them. But overall since 2002 we've been on an upward curve which is phenomenal for a club of our size.
People say we've spent lots of money, and to you and me we have. But in premiership terms we've spent f**k all! The top 6 or 7 clubs will all spend 10's possibly 100's of millions this year and we'll need to spend possibly £30m just to stand still.
So coming back to MH, for me he's the perfect fit for the club. His profile in global terms is massively higher than SCFC. And we shouldn't underestimate that in attracting players to the Club.
In my opinion of course 😉

The unfortunate thing about this thread/subject, is that there will be people on here who will be genuinely pissed off because we've won. Fortunately try only represent a small percentage of our fans.
I've been pissed off like we all have, but I would never ever wish a loss onto our team. I'm not sure how you'd guage a "true" fan or not, but for me, someone who wishes his team would lose comes up a long way short imo.

I'm sure I've seen a thread previously about New York Stokies and a bar over there where they met? Was it Fitzgerald's or somewhere like that?
The reason I'm asking is that we're going out to the Big Apple this weekend, and if there was a Stokie watering hole, then I'd love to visit it!
If one of our transatlantic Stokies, or someone better travelled than me could let me know, that would be great 😊

Never had a problem with TP at Stoke. I did feel it was time for a change, but if it hadn't happened I'd have backed PC's choice. Once TP left then apart from a little curiosity about what was in the media regarding new jobs etc, I really wasn't interested, and always wished him well, but desperately wanted to beat whoever he was in charge of when we played them.
Over the past 10 days or so, he has plummeted in my estimation, and made it easy to understand why he has a poor relationship with many of his ex clubs, with SCFC now added to that list. He's really tarnishing his reputation, and his time at SCFC, and does himself no favours.
So do I believe our current manager, and captain regarding what TP has allegedly said and done over the past couple of week? Or do I believe someone who has been labelled a disgrace in a court of law, where it was also suggested he didn't always tell the truth?
It's a pretty easy decision to make imo.

"I wouldn't have brought on Ibrahim Afellay and Julien Ngoy - and I certainly wouldn't have broken up our midfield by taking off Charlie Adam. I thought Adam, Joe Allen and Glenn Whelan were hugely competitive and offering Stoke great defensive protection in the middle of the park. So what I would have done is bring on Phil Bardsley at right back, so I could then push Glen Johnson further upfield, and bring on Marc Muniesa on the left to operate in front of Erik Pieters." Give me strength. Is that really so outrageous? He's saying we're one up and should make it solid to see out the result. Keep the three central midfield players tight and bring on Muniesa for Arnie and Bards for Shaq pushing Johnson ahead of Bards and sealing the wide areas. The equaliser came because Allen was pulled from a central position trying to cover Johnson at full back and gave a cheap free kick. It isn't really outrageous, and its prob something that TP would have done to hold on. But what it is, is a really easy thing to say with the benefit of hindsight, any of us could have said something similar, and that it would have made us solid. What would he have said if Rooney put the free kick on the D road? I've always admired MP, but he's doing himself no favours with his punditry, because he's coming-out with some right cliche filled bollocks. Imo of course

Pej would have a real adversity to showboating, as in his final game for England (see Slip's picture), Jimmy Johnstone sent him the wrong way so many times he did,nt know whether he was in England or Scotland. He's entitled to his opinion as is that other Stoke legend Denis Smith, but the game has moved on, and there is less chance of Stoke winning a trophy than there was in Pej and Smithy's days- the money differential requires one of the big six to take their foot of the gas for any other team to win a trophy. Before Wigan, who was the last outsider to win a major trophy? Given that, most people require to see some entertainment for their money and if one of our players makes one of the opposition look stupid, then I am all for it. Birmingham City And also relegated in the same season, I think?

Best left back I've seen at Stoke. Could play and could mix it, top top player. Have met him and he's a lovely man. Don't like his punditry though, even though radio Stoke is absolutely dire with footie coverage anyway, but he comes over as a dinosaur, summed up really well by that bollocks statement about who he would have subbed and what he would have done against manure! That, Pej is why you're a pundit and not a manager!

Never get chance to watch Goals on sunday when its on so i recorded it today and have just got round to watching it. WHAT A PILE OFF SHITE, and MOTD gets slagged off on here. The presenters, that prick off good morning britain and Chris (fake laugh at everything) Kamara. They spend the biggest part off the 2 hour show talking to a couple of old hasbeen players. 8 mins in we get our first "highlights" 4 mins of Spurs v West Brom (MOTDs highlights for that match was twice as long) But thats nothing to what we get next "We are now going to show Leicester v Chelsea but we can only show 1 min. ONE MINUTE !! WTF. What would it be like on here if on MOTD last night they said we are only going to show 1 min of our game! It gets worse. After more chat with our ex "stars" we have, get this, all the goals from the championship THE FUCKING CHAMPIONSHIP !! After a break we get old clips of our ex stars (dont know why they dont go the hole hog and show old clips of Ben fucking Shepherd on morning tv !) Finally 45 FORTYFIVE mins in we get our 3rd premier league game. So for the first 45 mins we,ve had 5 mins of premier league highlights jesuswept !! The rest of the show carries on in much the same way. Think it was about 1 hour 45 mins before they got round to our game, on next to last and AFTER the Watford Middlesbro boring nil nil ! Notice that hasent been mentioned on here, somehow think it would have been if that was the case with MOTD. And so to our game. Yes fairplay to them they did give a better review of our goals especially Arnies 2nd. But if you think MOTD went overboard on Andy Carrolls goal on here they ran a fucking poll! comparing it to about 10 other overhead kicks (loved Rorys by the way). So to anyone who does,nt get to see Goals on sunday youre not missing anything apart from 2 hours of your life! Anyone telling you its far superior to MOTD are either taking the piss or pissed up its 10 times worse !! Thank you and goodnight. Get a gin down ya son! 😉

Maybe Smudge's intention was to stimulate a debate, in which case he's succeeded. But for me, it rings of someone who is a higher profile Stokie making a point against our club captain?
I might be wrong, but I don't think Smudge has done himself, this message board and the club, any favours by writing, what in my opinion, was a completely ott piece in the local rag.
Ryan probably shouldn't have done what he did, but hey, football is an emotive sport and I know that I've said and done things, both when playing and watching the game that I shouldn't have done. Smudge's article was drafted in the cold light of day which, in my view, removes the emotive excuse.
How many people would have noticed what Ryan did without the article?
