Lived in Stafford a year now due to work reasons and a group of the lads from work went to watch them on Saturday. Obvs I missed it due to the Stoke game but they are gonna make it a regular thing. If it doesn't conflict with our games I'm looking forward to joining them It will be the best thing you ever do. I started going last season with my Dad and I absolutely love it. Stafford have got a fantastic side this year signed a couple of very decent players. Dan Westwood has scored 100 goals in the last 2 season for Wolverhampton sporting www.theguardian.com/football/2017/feb/08/dan-westwood-wolverhampton-sporting-100-goalsThey had Josh Gordon playing for them last season before he got a big move to Leicester where he's currently playing for there u23s They have got ex vale defender Exodus Geoghagan and Kyle Perry (ex vale striiker) on the bench at the moment as he can't get a game. They've got a really good squad at the moment the manager Neil Kitching is a brilliant non league manager tells it how it is if players are playing crap he isn't afraid to say it. I'd love for Stoke to send some of our youngsters there and have a pre season friendly there they get crowds of about 700 at the moment for home games they bayernoatcake get yourself down there I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how good it is.

Don't forget Hughes said he was splitting the squad in 2 this week so all players could get 90 minutes so Joselu was never going to start today as he played the full game against St Pauli.

Theres a couple of players we let go who are doing well. Leicester have just signed a young lad Josh Gordon for there u23s who was playing for Stafford having been released by us a few years ago. Saw him a few times for stafford and looks a brill talent. I would love for us to use a non league team as a better version of the U23 league send 5/6 players for the season and let them play proper football and play as a team together. He's 22 and until now has been in non league. He's not a stick to beat the system with for crying out loud. Not beating the system with anything just saying hes an ex stokie whos just signed for a prem league team. Im just glad these players get the chance to showcase there talent. I know the B team idea is hated in this country but now the loan window has been closed apart from the 2 transfer windows i think clubs should look at using a feeder club at lower level to allow there academy players to go out and get games. Also any idea on what joel taylor has done at rochdale not to get any game time

According to his twitter it appears he should only be out for 3-4 weeks So thankfully not as serious as first reported. He should be up and running eith plenty of time to get a loan move in jan. Also didnt realise he is only 19.

looks like Trevor Sinclair has joined the academy coaching staff Unless Trevor is there too, it's Frank Sinclair that's involved. I always get them 2 mixed up

Would be good to see some of the youth players coming through as largely alot of the named players are squad fillers. Given, Bachmann - the club don't trust bachmann or we wouldn't have signed grant to be givens back up. We do need a replacement number 2. Crouch - unclear what best to do until the team know how to attack and score but we've got enough youth strikers to give a chance for 10-30minutes a match. Adam, Ireland, Afellay - all three are good players but we could get rid of one or all and replace some with the likes of Shenton, Lecgyne considering the amount of game time they are likely to get it wouldn't weaken us significantly and would save cash for other areas. Johnson,Bardsley - Johnson is easily the better player when he can play but if he can't there's no point. We should spend relatively well on a young experienced right back and keep Bardsley. Bachmann desperately needs game time hes being wasted in the u23s the club needed to loan him out if they werent guna have him as given's back up

They also run everton's and Aston Villas websites and online shops. This has been in the pipeline for a number of years as our longterm contract with the current providers finally runs out this year. Hopefully jon sidaway and his team are given a decent budget and adequate staffing as they do there best considering we have one of the smallest media teams in the top 2 divisions

Don't know if it's the first use of it in the world or just in the states
Don't know what to make of it personally doesn't seem to take him very long to make the decision however there's surely a better way to do it than just having a bloke walking round the pitch holding a tv.
Thoughts?

Its not gareth jennings job to sort the website out. I'm sure i remember someone saying 12months ago maybe more that the club arent interested in keeping the website upto date as the website is under licence with a 3rd party and that the club would like to create there own website but are unable to as they are under contract until 2017 i think. Best person to ask is jon sidaway on twitter he usually replies to fans. Also dont forget there is only 2/3 people in stokes media team we have the smallest media team in the whole league. He told me on there that they have an intern every year that focuses on the Academy so there's no excuses. Also at Bristol Rovers the coaches have taken ownership of their Twitter and keep it up to date with specific academy info. It puts us to shame. Well the intern musnt have been doing anything for the last 2 year then. Id like to see a stoke youth team Twitter set up to keep us up to date. I also dont know why the club dont get the people that run the bear pit/stoke loud and proud involved as some of the stuff the bear pit does puts the club to shame as well. I suppose now he's been elected to the supporters council he might get involved with it

The new season is upon us, so it seems like a good enough time to start this again with rumours of a few younger players being bid for etc. The U-18's squad is absolutely threadbare. The U-21's need some defenders and wingers (Verlinden could be used way in the U-21's I guess. So if Souttar does sign he would have a place already in the U-21's. I will update the squad lists when we know just who is going to be either squad but so far I think the squads will look like this (it's not including any rumoured players so far). GK - Tommy Dyche
RB - Tom Edwards
DF - Luis Silva DF - Kosovar SadikiDF - Harvey ReadMF - Lasse Sorensen MF - Jake Dunwoody
WG - Thibaud Verlinden
FW - Shola Ayoola1st Years 2nd YearsUnder 21'sGK-Daniel Gyollai GK-Harry Isted RB/CB-Lewis Banks RB/CM-Johnville Renee-Pringle CB-Liam Edwards LB/LW-Joel Taylor LW/RW-Moha DM-Eddy Lecygne DM-Sergio Molina CM-Mark Waddington (on loan at Kilmarnock) CM-Ollie Roberts CM- Danny Jarvis AMC-Oliver Shenton ST-George Waring ST-Dom Telford ST- Julien N'Goy ST- Hakim Abdallah If I missed anyone, let me know! oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/245541/stoke-city-academy-development-threadBayern, Has it been confirmed if N'Goy was given a new contract as he was out of contract and didn't show on the retained list as being given a new deal? I know a few people asked the sentinel reporter Pete smith to find out but I never saw him confirm it.

Just switched over to the MLS for a second and NYC are getting battered. But they just brought a young kid on called Jack Harrison and the commentator said he's from Stoke. I've never heard of him but apparently they paid a bit of money to get him through the MLS draft system too. It's interesting that kids are starting to look at the MLS as a more realistic opportunity of making a career for themselves than over here. I.e Charlie Ward, Bobby Moseley I just posted about this in a separate thread. I agree that it's interesting to see more English players go over there and it's nice to see more youngsters going across instead of just your Gerrards beckhams & lampards. To be honest the quality of some of the players in the mls is appalling but the league is getting better and if more youngsters do decide to go over to the most then brilliant as they will just improve the league more The fact giovinco went over there at such a young age is brilliant for the league but it's such a waste as he'd be brilliant in the prem

Red bulls currently 5-0 after 60 mins
However a young lad just come on making his debut for New York City Jack Harrison and the commentator just said that he's from Stoke. He was apparently the number 1 pick in this years super draft

Hasselbaink set them off on this journey, deserves some credit too. No he didn't Gary Rowett started them off 2 season ago when they just missed out on promotion via league 2 playoffs and was instrumental last season before he was poached by Birmingham Hasselbaink just carried on the good work Rowett had started. Cloughie has come in and done well since his return but I heard a rumour that once the season is over whether they are promoted or not he's off to Forest.

Biggest problem for Hughes is keeping hold of Bowen as he was linked to a club job a month or so ago and eventually Bowen will surely want to go and be his own man

There was an interesting article in the mirror(and probably other sources I just happened to see it in the mirror) the other day saying that the fa are going to vote on changing the u21 league and having it as a premier league 2 whereby u21 teams would play the same fixtures as there main team so for example our u21s would play Watford away this weekend the clubs will be able to pick 5 over aged players and also games will be on tv and played at the clubs stadium and prize money is to be increased to £3million.
Also u18 and u16 age groups will be replaced with u19 and u17. And from next year there will be no month long loans and no loan window. All loans are 6 or 12 months so will be interesting in August to see who the club loan out for 6 months

Moha on bench And Lecygne playing so presumably spell at Donny over and not a roaring success? Doesn't Lecygne come back and play play for our U21s whilst on loan if there is no fixture clash? He did the same last week. Yeah but Doncaster played Barnsley today so you would have thought he have been playing for them Will be interesting who we get out on loan in next few weeks as surely Telford, Waring, Warrington, Shenton, Bachmann and even Moha would all benefit from playing mens football at the crunch part of the season
