Don't know if it's the first use of it in the world or just in the states
Don't know what to make of it personally doesn't seem to take him very long to make the decision however there's surely a better way to do it than just having a bloke walking round the pitch holding a tv.
Thoughts?

Didn't Zidane get sent off in the World Cup final because the 4th official saw the replay on tv?

Hang on.
The ref was told he should have been sent off, not that the free kick should have been a penalty..?
Good to see the VAR in play, but not convinced a ref should need assistance to decide between no card and a red card in that manner!?

Rugby has been doing this for decades. In my opinion a better system - the VAR reviews the tape and tells ref their recommendation just like a linesman does. The ref running to the sideline looks ridiculous,

Didn't Zidane get sent off in the World Cup final because the 4th official saw the replay on tv? That is a huge ongoing bone of discontent from the French. If that happened it shouldn't have been red. They insist the lino told the ref. Not sure myself.

Not for me although I understand the desire people have to get a decision tight. But rugby, cricket, tennis etc. are start/stop games whereas football should be far more flowing end to end and none stop.
