Don't get me wrong he makes mistakes like all players but some seem to get singled out more than others. But it's not Wilsons fault we lost, poor attacking, poor service and poor defending(apart from butland) was the reason we lost. You could see as Puncheon was moving down the wing and not getting closed down higher up the pitch that the goal was coming.

I could be but I don't know what is in the lads head. Would he have been slated if he had put in a tackle and brought Puncheon down?
It should not have been down to Wilson as it should have been cleared by Assaidi.
Don't get me wrong I'm not Wilsons biggest fan but you can't keep making him a scapegoat.
I personally didn't think the Newcastle game or Liverpool games should have been penalties!(both should have been brought back for handballs)

I feel Wilson was definitely worried of putting a challenge in as Puncheon would have gone down and he would be being berated for giving away yet another penalty. simple u get the ball first then!! ..the guy faked the shot 3 times and he still stood off him Against Liverpool he tried to hold off their player but got penalised for not even fouling him. It must affect you when you are playing and that happens, you are at the mercy of the officials and whether or not the opposing player is honest or cheating. It must be in the back of your mind if a put I tackle in and get the ball will the player make a meal of it and will the ref see it! Again if Assaidi had just kicked it out of trouble instead of back in the box we wouldn't be discussing it! If Wilson hadn't had two penalties given against him he may have put in a tackle! If the Referees saw the game as they should do, cheats wouldn't get away with diving and handballs etc but I can see what your getting at.

Wilson definitely at fault for the goal. Assaidi has chased his man down from the half way line and then taken possession off him at the vital moment and then rather than putting it out for a corner, he makes a simple knock back to Wilson, who is in a much better position to hoof it up the field. The problem however is that Wilson was COMPLETELY ASLEEP AGAIN!
He's cost us far too many times now. But the ball didn't reach Wilson as it was a poor pass from Assaidi.

You can't really blame Wilson, it was down to Assaidi really!
I think Wilson is still living the nightmare of any tackle in the box and it's another penalty!

Could Stoke have Kenny for trade descriptions then? He must have portrayed that he was a better footballer than he actually was. If he was the player they thought they were getting and he was injury free the he would be in the side every game like SJW!! If I bought a Lambo and found it had no engine I'd be a bit miffed!! Caveat Emptor. A midfield latin maestro currently playing for Grasshoppers of Zurich. Trade Descriptions etc. Beware indeed! Let's hope we have no more latin wonders!

You could scratch off the next penalty they get. The ref awards a penalty he's seen but then checks his matchday notes and sees that they had a penalty awarded for a dive previous and nulls the award. That's no different from awarding the other team a pen at the start of the match, in terms of another team benefiting for the injustice dished out a team in the previous match. Also, if a defender/keeper knows that a team won't be awarded their next Pen then what's stopping them from committing a cynical challenge on a Striker who gets through on goal. mNo doubt they'll want to use that 'bonus challenge' rather than see the opposing team in the next game get it. A 3 game ban is the best option imo. Yes but you can still get sent off just like at any other time if you take down the striker, last man etc. I agree it gives the other club the benefits but punishes the divers team.

************** I think you haven't read the original thread thoroughly.
It is not to categorise the whole team, but a question on who has been a good player but is now a passenger and is not adding to the team.
Who is a player who has not fulfilled expectation.
And who is simply not good enough!
I am after opinions on those three things, no hidden agenda, if anything just to see if supporters are seeing the same weakness in the squad that might need addressing.

Miles I hope you weren't spoiled by their in depth analysis of the game!
It really grates me when they can analize the Tottenham 0 Newcastle 1 game for seemingly an age and they just analize Stoke's penalty award in our 3 -3 draw!

dieguito88 does that come under unfulfilled promise then?
I agree he played better today but not the player I expected when he first signed.
I thought he would have been a solid midfielder but it's never happened!

Out of the current squad who falls into the above categories?
It seems to me that Matty is definitely a spent force, not being sentimental as he was a great player but two seasons ago! Whelan the same, they have both been good servants but need to be moved on.
In my mind Kenwyne definitely did not fulfil the promise after the performances he started with!
Palacios is either not good enough or unfulfilled promise too!
Those are just a few I can think of, what are your thoughts?

Nzonzi seems a bit precious, Whelan just looks angry and flies into challenges!
Ryan doesn't look a happy lad at the back and Kenwyne looks disinterested that's just a few observations!

We need a strong character to knock a few heads together or ship the bad apples out!
Whoever the bad apples are I am not quite sure?
