For those of a certain age who may remember Phil Heath - he was a left winger whose party piece was to cut in from the wing and hit a right footed shot into the far corner of the net. The similarity with Assaidi ends there.

Assaidi lacks a lot when it comes to strength and defensive qualities, but he is also the one player we have who can create something magical at the moment! I would certainly play him in our home games, but away only against teams in the bottom 12 I think.

He is starting to impress me. He has a long way to go, but he is clearly on an upward path, learning his trade at Premiership level.
Unfortunately Liverpool may be the long term beneficiaries if he fully develops.

He's got to shoot more when he gets a sight at goal. Also if he uses his markers to the team's advantage it'll be good.

There's one thing for certain. He's got his head stuck somewhere is shouldn't be if he thinks he can go back to Liverpool and have an impact.
They've massively moved on and left him way behind.

Phil Heath was definitely a boo boy, he was very poor.
Tony Ford on the right wing however was fairly decent.

I see a lot of promise in him. He has scored. 2 super goals in a few weeks - much more than we can say for most other of our players

Always will be one of my heroes for scoring that goal at Villa in my first away game. I'm trying to remember what year this was ? March 1988. I was there, but it took a bit of a google to find the date. Coincidentally, Tony Ford scored one of the best goals I've seen that season. We won 3-0 at Shrewsbury. We broke away down the right, the ball was crossed to the left corner of the box (by Carl Saunders, I think) and Tony Ford hit it first time on the volley across the goal into the top corner. Another great mental.

Villa pissed the league that year if I remember rightly which made the Heathmeister's goal and the win all the more special. Battered, bruised, cs gassed in the seats, that game had everything

Villa pissed the league but they were pretty poor at home that year.
Seem to recall them winning loads away.
Phil Heath, I recall him running on to the pitch for our first season relegated in 1985. He looked like Chris Waddle and had a few blinding games. Scored a wonderful goal that day against Sheffield Utd.
The following seasons he lost his bottle a bit, used to run at a defender, cut in either left or right and win a foul. That was all you got from him.
Good guy though and I'll also never forget the Villa game '88

Assaidi,a player who can frustrate for most of the game, but come up with a winner now and then. Do we keep him or send him back? I realy cant make my mind up.

He needs to be more positive when taking on his man. It's all a bit predictable that he's going to beat his man for pace then stop and turn around.
That said, I think he deserves his spot in the team and will only get better.

Some of the negative things I've read about Assaidi astounds me. He hasn't just scored 3 goals he's scored 3 fantastic ones. What has Ethers done in the last 2 years? Jack shit, go Palace with Jones please.

Think about Phil Heath which will always give him credibility is he was a big part of the glorious winter.
