As the title suggests, someone who just fits the description of a poacher is what we need more than anything. Jones, Crouch, Walters - they all come too deep, Arnautovic is a wide player and naturally tracks back to an extent so when central he still does it. Just having a player, or adjusting the system so someone stays in the middle, pushing forward at all times could be the decider. Today Crouch got a fair few flick-ons, but either there was no one beyond him or he had come too deep.
Assaidi, Ireland & Arnautovic are all quite capable of interchanging positions and moving forward quickly, there just isn't someone who stays ahead looking for the ball. I don't even think its a case of needing a rather expensive player, just someone who's given the freedom of having to do defensive work to focus purely on spearheading attacks & counters.

Our midfield is truly awful, whoever plays up top will not score many because he will get no support.
