Silverware has to be the next step...as a fan all i want now is to see Stoke City lift a trophy/cup....not getting any younger. We have to mark this era with a trophy, lest it all be forgotten.

Cracking goal that. Exemplified everyone's quality. Imbula pulling the midfield apart by running with the ball. Afellay finding space and moving the ball quickly. Super cross from Bards and Walters' tenacity bangs it home. A roast dinner goal.

There's a difference home and away isn't there? Away, we can break at pace, at home for whatever reason we are ponderous and well, I'm afraid to say, a bit wank. Because when we're away the home side has to come out at us but at the Brit teams are prepared to sit and take a point. Things are looking really good for us I don't understand the negativity. We have a fantastic group of young players. It's all about ramping up that consistency now, then the sky's the limit. Truly.

Not unless we address our complete inability to break teams down we won't. Our home record tells its own story and we are not learning. It's a phase we're going through. Teams are coming here content with a point because they know we have the ability to really hurt them if they're too expansive. Man City had zero shots in the 2nd half against Norwich with the likes of Silva and Aguero. That shit is hard. It'll come: but it's a consequence of being a top-half rather than bottom-half side. Would those booing really rather be hovering above relegation? Fucking idiots.

Hughes: "He's looked everything we thought he was... and more, to be honest".
What a superb deal.

Interesting that Hughes spoke to his father first. Wasn't that a tactic used by Sir Alex? The club also now seem to have their ear to the ground when it comes to finding unsettled players. We're still a dogs' home, but bloody hell, look at the pedigree. Ferguson always made sure the mother was on board. She was always key, apparently.

The whole ground could do with a renovation, whether you fill the corners in or not. It barely looks finished. I think the stadium makes a big deal to potential signings, especially when you start compete with some of Europe's biggest clubs for transfers. We talk a lot about moving forwards to avoid moving backwards. I would be very very surprised if nothing was announced this summer. The Brit will be 20 years young in 2017: perfect for a spruce up.

Would be a great fit for them. Newcastle would be most likely of the four at the bottom to finish 17th, I think.

We only really now starting to feel what a strong squad looks like. AMC is perhaps the only role on the pitch where we have the luxury of choosing between two very very good players. With Stephen Ireland and arguably Charlie Adam as backup. Not bad. Not bad at all Mr Hughes.

CRITICSM OF HIM FIRST HALF TODAY ON THE MATCHDAY THREAD, WAS NOTHING SHORT OF DISGRACEFUL AND ULTIMATELY, EMBARRASING I came to the board expecting criticism but was actually pleased almost all were encouraged and pleased by what they saw. So pleased he repaid their faith before he was subbed.

I feel a bit for Diouf because none of our other strikers would have even created a chance out of that one where he burst past Ivanovic. But yes, his finishing is terrible.
It's some consolation to know that Mark Hughes know he has to do some horse-trading up front.

How have West Ham had such a good season? That's something that's completely passed me by. That's pretty much the sole responsibility of Payet, right?

Good result in awful conditions. We have to get them corners filled in though. At the moment the way we play the conditions are going against us. You eat burgers out of a polystyrene tray. You eat fillet steak from a fine china platter. Or something.

I love the Shaqiri-Arnie mad genius bromance. It's like Verlaine and Rimbaud all over again. It was worth watching this dire affair just for that. In this weather you can't really expect any more. Has anyone thought of filling the corners in?

Excellent half, very fast. We have to connect with one of these crosses soon enough. Although the odds of that happening are probably equal to the chance of conceding a goal due to a silly mistake.

The same as it is now. It's pretty much the same as it was in 1996 and that was 20 years ago. I'd like to see the league cup ended and make the FA Cup better.
I don't understand why the Premier League doesn't broadcast product itself "in-house" rather than sell its product to broadcasters, who presumably turn a large profit on that massive (read: risky) an investment. Hasn't broadcasting rather had its day?
