Diouf surely has to start up front. It's all getting a bit silly now!

If Steven Taylor plays centre half and we don't go with pace it's criminal.....

We must treat this game as though it's a big one. Do not want to lose against these. End of!

If Les won't go with Diouf up top I reckon we should try false 9 again. That ManC performance can't have been complete fluke, Newcastle won't be expecting it, it might just give Boje a shake-up and also I have a feeling Imbu in the middle would add dynamism to that set-up...

This Newcastle, from what I've seen, don't plant players behind the ball when not in possession. As long as Jack, Wolly, Geoff and Glenn have a fairly good day, we should be able to play with a bit of freedom and hopefully have some fun with their defence. I hate to say this though - Bo as the potential false 9, with Applepie behind - will Mr Krkic be up to it?

Latest suggestion is Hughes wants Shawcross to have a full week of training before starting again, so that means Saturday at the earliest. I'd be happy enough to go with the same defence as against Villa.
I want changes up top though - either Diouf or Bojan for Walters. Rest SJW to do the chasing around at Chelsea on Saturday.

Same as Saturday except Joselu for Walters. If that's not working, I'd bring Bojan on for Joselu and play him in the false number 9 and not wait till 75 minutes to make the damn subs. Do it at 60 min or even at half time. Or they should seriously consider Arnie at CF with Diouf on the right wing and shift Shaq to the left. Arnie's going to be on fire on Saturday and he's definitely fast enough and strong enough to make a difference. Go for it Sparky.

I would be most disappointed to see John Walters starting again on Wednesday if I was Bojan, Joselu, Diouf or Crouch. Otherwise I expect to see the same side as last Saturday. I would not consider Shawcross until after the Chelsea game. He will definitely be primed for the remaining season by then.

Another tough game. Anybody who scouts Stoke must know we struggle to break defensive teams down. McLaren would take a 0-0 now with Norwich hosting Chelsea.
They are fighting for their lives and the possibility of Big Sam dragging Sunderland clear, Boro coming up and them going down must be frightening the living daylights out of their supporters.
Early goal please lads. That will settle everybody and hopefully give us the time and room to play a bit.
Narrow, nervy home win, but that would be 3 on the spin and would really set us up for the last 10 games.

Tough game this one.
I do think they'll come here to win which could play into our hands which for me could mean us playing 433
I'd go with this
Jack
Bards Ryan GCam Erik
Whelan
Imbula Affelay
Arno Bojan Shaq

I'd give Ryan another week to back to full. Cameron and bardsley should do fine against Newcastle (even though they weren't really challenged at Villa)

I would go for Dioufy to start, their defence looks shaky at the best of times and a bit of pace could shit them up. Other than that, I would bring Shawcross in, we got away with being light at the back against Bournemouth (lack of clinical finishing) and Villa (they were awful), but someone will punish us and Newcastle do have some decent players coming forward that could potentially tear our makeshift defence to shreds.

Tough game this one. I do think they'll come here to win which could play into our hands which for me could mean us playing 433 I'd go with this Jack Bards Ryan GCam Erik Whelan Imbula Affelay Arno Bojan Shaq I like that line up because it also gives them the flexibility to play 4-2-3-1 with Arnie up front, Bojan at #10 and Affelay on the wing. Arnie's a natural center forward, fast, strong, aggressive and our top scorer who has shown he knows wher the back of the net is.

Newcastle are going to come and try and keep a clean sheet. We are going to need experience, guile, and trickery to break them down, so I would go with the same combination of Walters, Arni, and Shaqiri. Walters needs to play his socks off for 60 mins then hit them with Diouf or Joselu.

Bombard them, balls in the box and headers I reckon, they won't expect it and they won't like it. Jos or Crouch for SJW, otherwise unchanged.

Make no mistake Newcastle will be potentially much tougher than Villa. Sure their away record is very poor but they have way more potential match winners in their team. Question is will they fancy it on a wet and windy night in the Potteries?. Could be a tough tough game.

We need to pick this team with Saturday in mind, as well, which is a tough assignment. I'd save the runners like Diouf and Walters for Saturday, go with a bit more guile to try to break down the barricade Newcastle will put up tomorrow, so I'd go back to BMX. There is not going to be space in behind for Diouf to run into, and we can all see how Walters sometimes causes our best moves to grind to a halt with his limited technical ability, but his hassling of Terry and Cahill and chasing of lost causes, in liaison with Diouf, could prove invaluable at Stamford Bridge.
Wednesday
Butland Bardsley Cameron Wollscheid Pieters Whelan Imbula Shaqiri Afellay Arnautovic Bojan
Saturday
Butland Bardsley Wollscheid Muniesa Pieters Cameron Imbula (giving Glenn and his broken nose a rest!) Walters Ireland Arnautovic (Shaq for 2nd half) Diouf I find it hard to justify a starting spot for Joselu - one week he looks like he could come good, the next he ambles around like he is in a training game. I can't work him out.
