So frustrating!
You look at the table and we are 5 points off 4th place!
With so many of the big clubs so average this season you do wonder if we will ever get a better chance of finishing top 4
There is no chance that Man City, Man Utd, Liverpoll and Chelsea will be this poor again at the same time.
The dropped points are the hardest to take, Leicester, WBA both games, Palace.

Seriously, try to be a little bit realistic. We'll do well to stay top 7 and there's still a quarter of the season to go.

Are you seriously complaining that we aren't finishing in the top 4?
Crazy how far we've come, but also how deluded and ungrateful some fans are.

We're a classic mid table side... Brilliant one week, poor the next. I agree it's frustrating. 7th will be a brilliant season for us if we can stay where we are... Bear in mind Chelsea are coming up on the rails and it will be difficult (not impossible) to overtake West Ham.

We aren't good enough but I know what your saying with Man City and Arsenal being constantly poor but we don't create enough chances or score enough goals challenge for the top 4.

Our best chance so far without a doubt, but top 4 is a hell of a long shot and still unthinkable, 3 games ago people were wondering where our next point would come from.

Maybe not but not if we play like we have for these past two games. Managed to get 6 points but we've been poor.

Three wins on the bounce & people are moaning about points we dropped last September, fuck me If we'd won all the matches we've played this season we'd be champions!

Club still has a way to go off the pitch but things are moving in the right direction generally, which is a credit to Hughes (even though some on here are still doubtful for some reason). Re the dropped points, shite refs and unexpected turn arounds are always going to happen. We will benefit from that also. Just need to believe in the management and players and put it in perspective that we can look at the progress we are making, even after bumps in the road.

We will never have a better chance but we will finish between 8th and 11th but we will finish closer to the top 4 than we ever have points wise. That's my guess anyway.

How have West Ham had such a good season? That's something that's completely passed me by. That's pretty much the sole responsibility of Payet, right?

The middle of the table (7th - 13th) looks like this:
Stoke................ 42 Liverpool........... 41 Southampton..... 40 Chelsea............. 39 Everton...............38 Watford...............37 WBA...................36
Which is very neat and somewhat unlikely. Most importantly, it shows that we are as many points above Watford in 12th as we are behind Man City in 4th. Crazy season.

Radio Five Live talking about teams being in 'the mix' for Europe. They actually called us Stokelona "Can't rule out Liverpool, Stoke or Chelsea" - Steve Claridge.

He was saying it was our best chance (and only chance) along with a few other teams to maybe finish top 4. Dunna call folk deluded and ungrateful for having a little bit of hope. Some of the games we've lost this season when on paper should have won would habe put us right up there in the mix.

Don't get me wrong won't be upset finishing 7th-10th Just looking at it overall and the way the league is panning out this season I'm thinking the same. Due to how crazy it's been this year, whatever happens i think i'll be left with thoughts of 'what if' .... unless we somehow actually make it (rofl)

If anything I think we will be better off next season. We were chasing Berahino so it seems clear we will be looking to add a proven goalscorer over the summer. Also Shaqiri will be fully settled into the team straight away and Imbula will have got a good 6 months of finding his feet here out of the way.
While we say this team and that team won't be as bad they will all panic buy... again! Even Southampton signed a forever injured Austin on big wages and they're normally the most sensible club around. Hopefully the chuck 30 million at random signings to appease glory hunting fans will continue from the 'big' clubs and we can just continue getting slightly better each year without trying to replace an entire team.
Top 4 sounds crazy, but we're 7th with 10 games left this year and other than the odd home game around December and January it feels like we've not even seen this lot of players at their full potential yet.

I've been a Stoke regular for 35 years now. Lord knows we're never going to get carried away but we should be quite clear on this:
With a top quality striker there is no reason we should not have ambitions for a top 4 place.
Leicester have blown away that mental barrier. We have by far the best squad I have ever seen at Stoke and each time we come against the big boys the distance is narrowing.
Let's please not shout it from the rooftops but we are getting very close.

The point is not this season it's about next season.
I for one would forfeit Europa to have a new striker and an embedded Shaq and Imbula and go for the top 4 next year.

I think top 4 is out of reach this season but resting bojan before the run in is a good idea with the hope of top 6 which sounds realistic. If we could score from corners though we'd probably be closer

Makes me laugh when people scoff at someone suggesting we could be top 2 if we'd been better at home this season. The fact is, we could have been.
If Leicester can be top of the league right now, then so could we have been if we hadn't put in some truly terrible performances at home against opposition we should have been beating.
To not see those matches as a huge missed opportunity is bonkers. We're doing well, but it could have been so much more.

How have West Ham had such a good season? That's something that's completely passed me by. That's pretty much the sole responsibility of Payet, right? Well yes and no. Payet for sure has got opponents detailing extra help to stop him. By doing that he brings others into the game etc.. but don't forget Lanzini will be a big player for us also. Without Payet we've done OK also - he's missed two months because of James McCarthey - but there's a collective spirit which exceeds the sum of our parts (but not as good as Leicester's). Form is all that counts now. Tonight, (first half in particular) we totally dominated and (you all know how balanced my opinions usually are) we basically battered them. Antonio continues to surprise as does Bilic's set-up which shut Spur's down from the start. The result's tonight .... Spurs going top at our place?? Naah!! West Ham top 4?? Naah but maybe in a season or two.
