Shocked at the negative reaction to the signing of a quality RB who is ONLY 32! Fuck me. He could well make the England Squad if he stays fit. Good business as far as I am concerned. Especially because HE WANTS TO STAY AT STOKE. Even though he is heavily linked with two London clubs he would walk into. I know I aren't the happiest of fans at the moment re Hughes but some need to get a grip. This isn't as bad as some are making out. Does he want to stay at Stoke? He hasn't been playing like it.

Only 5 points behind West Brom! shows how awful the league is this season, and how much of a missed opportunity it was! How many times have we said that recently.

I've been told by someone who used to work within the Police (not a copper) of a conversation she had with a senior Police figure discussing the kind of individuals that are attracted to the Police. She suggested that in her experience a large proportion joined because they wanted to have a ruck on a Saturday night and not get in trouble for it. He didn't disagree. Says it all.

I would be all for replacing Hughes PROVIDED that the new manager produces better results. That would mean AT LEAST 8th place finishes for at least three years and hopefully better than that. Cup runs also required. Only a moron would expect something like that to happen. I must be moron then, or you must. Not sure.......... I hope he isn't. Hughes still here that is.

It's all just a bit shit isn't it? I thought we were poor yesterday but there was a few individual performances that made up for that. We've got to find a way of playing soon that isn't just twatting it to Crouch because that is all we do. There's a general malaise about the place at the minute. That needs to change. I would love to see us become more fit and athletic , even borough seemed in better condition than us yesterday . It begs the question with Hughes training methods is Berahino ever going to actually get "fit" at Stoke or is he in danger of just getting fatter????

It's not just one average season though is it. We were not at all convincing last season either and I'm still amazed we finished ninth. For me the football is as bad as anything the previous manager served up. Factor in that none of his big signings have pulled up any trees either and IMO the manager is out of credit. It will be very interesting to see how season ticket sales go. It's been pretty shit. Totally agree. Second half of last season was shite and a massive opportunity missed. Ten shaftings by 3 or more goals in the league in the last 12 months is fucking unacceptable.

How can we look so short of pace, and more importantly sharpness, this late in the season?????
I wonder about Hughes training methods in comparison to other managers.

That was last season, where we had a genuine chance of finishing in the top six. We might never be able to say that again. Exactly, massive opportunity, till it all went to shit.

Today should be an end to the Hughes out crap on here... For a while. One 45 minutes of decent football against a fucking useless team? He's got to produce a shite sight more than that to win me over.

42,000 still turning up to watch a poor team...i feel for them...they are awful. Watching fans of a club they love leaving in droves at half time is very very sad. I can relate to this. Watching almost half a stadium's worth of supporters leave after half an hour left was unsettling. They are a big club, by some metrics bigger than us. I was part chuffed and part saddened to see it.

Interesting observation from their Match thread here: "Don't forget this was Stoke last week: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38474738Get at them early and they could crumble. Playing like a side recently wanting the club to sack the manager." Of course the first half performance will pull the wool over the eyes of many, at least for a short while.

I think you should take a look at the league table and Stoke's results this season and study it closely. 11th place, 2 points off 9th, lost just once to a team in the bottom half, played 5 of the top 7 away, plus Everton, West Brom, Southampton, and Bournemouth have a tougher 2nd half season fixture list than Stoke. The only suffering I experience is negative posters on Oatcake. www.soccerstats.com/team.asp?league=england&teamid=22Dunner read it then fella. Some people won't agree with you and have every right to post their opinion. Deal with it.

I can't believe there are some on this board who can so readily and easily forgive/forget the recent history of four and five goal trouserings, the shoddy defensive performances, the dodgy recruitment decisions, the questionable tactics, the unfathomable substitutions, the almost complete lack of in-game management and making players play out of position or just not playing them at all when it's obvious they could improve the starting 11!
Each to his own though.
Hughes has lost my confidence at the moment and has a lot to do to win it back.
