Not the big chewing gum chodding, 'give it ten minutes in their guv' Sam but Salford Universitys scarily accurate Sports Analytics Machine, that's taken all the data from the season so far, chugged through it and predicted how the season will end with 50% of the games played For Stoke, it predicts 13th place, well away from danger but would be disappointing on 44 points, albeit just 3 points off 10th so with the margin of error for the odd freak result here and there I guess that's achievable still - if we did finish 10th on 47pts, would you still class that as a 'disappointment' or would you go into the summer positive? Of the other teams, it predicts that Arsenal will miss the top 4, which if I think happens Arsene will leave - just my hunch! Bottom 3 is fairly predictable, although it says Palace will finish just 3 points above the Mackems - I could easily see that being reversed and for them to pull off another survival - it will happen one year though! Link to the Beeb article, and the final predicted table below Would love to know what its predicting for S'land v Stoke this weekend! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38524102Attachment Deleted

That would be very disappointing but we are heading that way atm.

**Note
Before the smart arses chip in, we know its just forecasting and hypothesis - of course football doesn't work like that, there will be shocks, upsets, runs of good form and fortune, and others who crash like the beagle lander else we would all be accy millionaires
This thing is rarely far off though as an overall summary rather than individual games though!

I looked through the remaining fixtures a few days ago and predicted 42 points so fairly similar.
I did wonder if that was leaving it a bit late in the season to get to the majic No, but then thought unless there are some major changes in form there are some pretty poor teams who should finish below us.

Be about right that I think. Can't see us finishing top 10 now. Not a disaster if we do finish there but it'll be seen as progress stalled. Big job for MH next season to 'right the ship' as it were.

13th seems about right unless Hughes can get the team finishing the season by stringing a few wins together. I know it's a far fetched idea, a non top ten finish would be hugely disappointing and adding two dismal limp exits from cups it might be classed as our poorest season in the prem. The disappointing stat in that prediction is that Everton would finish 7 on just 56 points and maybe be in contention for a Europa place. 7th place is really up for grabs shame we will not be in contention

I had a hunch in the summer we would finish 13th 14th this season, not sure why. And it doesnt disappoint me. We are due a blip/wakeup call. We Looked good on paper after the window though I must say. I guess I just thought we have rode our luck a long time with these top tens. Asmir and especially Jack were a big factor in that. Be interested to see the stats on the games he won us. So many saves...

Yup.
Looks scarily accurate.
We're on for < 10th I fully expect now.
And that, for the squad we have - even with all it's obvious inadequacies and even injuries - would be hugely disappointing.
Add to that if West Brazil pull off 8th with 51 (is it on there?) then serious questions will be asked upstairs.
Still the ball is in our (MLH's) court court to go out, splash some cash and get some serious pace (wing), goals (fwd) and defensive cover (CDM) in during Jan and tell Sam to stuff his 13th spot.

It would be a disappointment without being a disaster.
It may have a positive effect in delivering a kick up the arse to the owners (largely blameless but could do better), to the management (having a 'mare this last 12 months or so) and last but not least to the feckin' useless recruitment team (having a 'mare since their inception).

If we can start putting a few more 90 minutes together and eradicate the daft errors, with a couple of off the peg additions and no crucial exits we're poised for the run in. I hate being out of the Cups, but hopefully there's truth in the cliche about allowing you to focus on the League. Unfortunately if we turn up every saturday like last week and give the first half away we're in the soup. Last season we had a boost and ok run after the winter break in Dubai {and Imbula}, and two out of the three seasons we've had a far better second half. Too hard to call before the window shuts. I'm not too arsed where we finish as long as it's survival but it'll be a very disappointing season if we don't put one or two of the big boys to the sword. 9th.

Ha, the baggies 8th on 51 points. That would be ironic.

Ha, the baggies 8th on 51 points. That would be ironic. Yes but they haven't factored in that Pulis moves the "forward speed" lever to "dead slow" once he hits 40 points.
