Just looking at the table then, and MH desire to challenge for 7th
4 home games will probably be decisive
West Brom at home 89th min equaliser Bournemouth at home sloppy performance missed a pen lost 1-0 Leicester at home 2-0 up against 10 somehow 2-2 Man Utd at home 94th min equaliser
Thats 7 points min (I think we may have gone on to beat Bournemouth had Bojangles scored) dropped, and we would be sitting pretty on 35pts 1 behind Everton in 7th.
Small margins in footy, but those results I think will sum up the season at the end and a predictable 9-11th place finish on 45-49 points (imo)

Plenty of teams will say similar and it could be argued the opposite at times when have managed results etc. In the end the table doesn't lie. :-)

Already is that type of season, we have been plagued with injuries for almost a year now.....Its why we stumbled end of last season, and lets be honest if you don't have decent man between the sticks then that effects the whole squad.....Because its the one job that no other player can do anything about, its going play on your mind players were most likely thinking shit I've got stay back try help the keeper clear, and in that moment the game plan gets lost in transition.

By my reckoning, we should be eleven points better off than we are now, counting the points dropped at home to Man U WBA, Leicester, Bournemouth, and Southampton (with eleven men we would have won that game).
But looking above us, we need West Brom to do a "TP's forty points target reached" before we can catch them, and Everton to implode, if we are going to get a sniff of seventh. Ninth at this stage, with our injuries and inconsistencies, is pretty good. I genuinely believe we are better than every team below us (with the possible exception of West Ham) and not as good as six of those above us. We are in a mini-league with Everton and West Brom, fighting for a Europa League place.

It's always been like that if you're a Stoke supporter. It's why we moan a lot.

A run of fixtures against Man U, Everton, WBA at this time is a brill barometer, great for the narrative of the season. I'd add the Everton away game into the 'what if's', could've/should've been a draw, dodgy pen. Is there a set of Cup results that make 7th a Europa spot? or is it automatic?

That was last season, where we had a genuine chance of finishing in the top six. We might never be able to say that again.
