Can't see any sense of keeping him and Bardsley, and of the two I would've kept the latter.
Surely he will be getting nowhere near the £60k a week he's on now!

Hope this doesn't mean we won't be signing a new right back.

Percy's done a complete about-turn then.
I thought it looked like we wanted him to stay, but very surprised he'd want to stay if London teams are interested.
I'm absolutely amazed at the decision by Hughes.
He'll be 33 when next season kicks off.
What price Bardsley and Adam to stay too?
Just how is the space for new blood going to be opened up?

Hughes has got to just fuck off.
This is madness.

I think we need a new young and capable Right Back plus probably Bardsley as cover. Johnson gas never been able to defend albeit he can look useful going forwards. He has really left us exposed in recent weeks.

Just how is the space for new blood going to be opened up? By getting rid of Bojan & Imbula... So as he can spend millions on two more midfielders... And we'll still have Whelan & Adam starting...

Looks like Hughes is staying if Coates is agreeing to tie down players at Hughes's request. Absolute madness

If true this is part of the reason why people question the managers position.

Hughes has got to just fuck off. This is madness. How do you know it's all his doing? Nobody knows what's going on and what the budget and the targets will be in the close season. Anybody who thinks that there will be a massive clearout and loads of new players coming in are sorely mistaken.

Thoroughly depressing as for me it's a statement of the club's intent. We need fresh blood and pace. If all the old guard are offered new deals we're looking more and more like Dad's army. I don't advocate getting rid of all the older more experienced players but Johnson would be first on my exit list. Really don't understand the thinking behind this.

I hope we move on, though I did think he was far better first half yesterday than he's been since before xmas. Faded out of it second half as I recall.
Is there a chance that a one year extension might just secure some value for us in him. It might limit the number of suitors, but offers us some residual value.
Maybe clutching at straws.

Because he's lost the plot and this another bit of evidence (as well playing the useless fooker) for it. Thats what we need though or we'll struggle. Expect news about another one of the useless old guard being given a new deal soon too. It's a joke. He's got to go.

Yeah - could see logic in retaining Bardsley as experienced back-up. But get the impression Johnson will be signing as presumptive first-choice if he's rejecting London teams. Hard to make any sense of. It's all gone quiet on Adam too. Beginning to think he's quietly had some kind of extension already triggered.

HAVE to hope firstly this doesn't happen and if it does, it's on vastly less than the £60k a week he's currently on.

If we wanted him to stay why didn't Hughes play him enough times for a automatic renewal ?
Now presumably there is other interest him making the negotiating over wages more difficult.

Disappointing if true. He was decent last year but he's been poor this season, and you just know he won't come close to playing every game next year anyway.

I agree, he was very good yesterday, got some good balls in. I would be okay with a one year extension.

Played like a bloke destined to move since Leicester at home in December. Surprised he didn't go in January. If Hughes is intent on playing 3-4-3, both wing back positions need prioritising to make the system work.
