Only a couple of weeks....as long as O'Neill keeps involving him we are going nowhere near promotion .

The question that has to be asked is,what does O'Neill see in Clucas that no one else see's,he brought him on against Sheffield and we conceded.... unbelievably he starts him against Bournemouth and he played his part in the goal conceded, O'Neill is costing us points by using this charlatan,we are playing with ten men whenever he is involved...for god's sake O'Neill wake up,we know what's going to happen when you involve him,why can't you !!!!

Should have gone with the team that beat West Brom, Thomson has more defenceive awareness than Sawyers, but we were winning till we brought on the subs,Clucas I ask you,it then should have been Thomson as we were still one nil up,we then had two players who neglect their defenceive duties in Sawyers and Clucas,I said at the time he came on,that's it we will now concede, O'Neill still manages to balls things up with his choice of substitutes.

When we played Fulham we were so poor,we made them look as though they were on another level, all their goals came from our right side, Smith had Clucas Infront of him...need I say more, performances are based on team and tactics picked by the manager, that day he got it wrong.

Somehow not changed from being inconsistent either, even with all the changes to the team, that's down to O'Neill....he picks the team and tactics, who else would pick two left footers to play on the right with Ince and Clucas being two of the biggest bottlers in the squad, who should not be here let alone in the team, our back three are exposed because of our weakness on the right hand side, teams are coming inside and having pot shots at our goal at will,so O'Neill get your head from up your arse and sort it ASAP !!!

Clucas and lnce together on the right.... really !! Two of the biggest bottlers on the pitch, Brown should start away games, for his energy and pressing,Sima is not that type of player, poor team selection once again by O'Neill.

Trouble is when it is in play,we are wasting time passing it back and sideways, even though we are losing ....

Is there a more negative player than Clucas, virtually every pass goes backwards, how did he get a start after the Fulham game, how did he get a two year deal is beyond me, Huddersfield were a far better passing side than us today, why O'Neill gives him a start is worrying, but to not sub him is even more worrying !!

Problem was they targeted our right side as being our weakness, all the goals came from that side, Clucas and Smith were having their arses smacked first half, and we were lucky it was only one nil,Clucas disappears when the going gets tough and Smith is a joke at defending, don't know what Mon was seeing first half, but to send them out again at half time to watch the same thing happen again was piss poor by him, eventually he did hook them far too late, the game was over by then...and to start with a thirty six year old centre forward is beyond comprehension, when he should be getting the last twenty minutes at best.

Should have started with the team that finished, how Clucas starts is beyond comprehension, took him far to long to react to all three !!!

So Michael you say you played for Newcastle with Gazza at the age of eighteen...so no season long loan elsewhere to get experience for you then..... interesting ๐ค๐ค

O'Neill in a recent comment is now blaming a lack of fans in the stadium for our result against QPR,he says that if fans had been there, they could have got us going forward more to get an equaliser, then possibly go on to win it......I have never heard so much crap since the last time he opened his mouth, wait till fans are in, he's in for a rude awakening !!!

Anybody else remember playing year's ago, having games postponed during the season because of bad weather, then having to for fill your fixture list at the end by playing every night all week after being at work every day.... that's what running on empty actually feels like!!

It's the managers tactics and substitutions or lack of,and his inability to change a game that are the worry !!

Amazing value..... that's yet to be proved, let's hope so, anything like this season and it won't be !!

But by O'Neill's own admission,he's been limited to games as we don't play a system which involves wingers, you couldn't make it up if you tried !!

1963/64 season saw Stoke draw at home on a Saturday to West Brom 1-1.not a very good game, we were then at home again in mid week to Ipswich Town.... after the dissapointing last game,I thought I will give this one a miss, Jesus when I checked the result...9-1 we won, could not believe it, that's the one I always regret missing ๐ฉ๐ฉ

Thanks for the memories Ryan.certainly it's an end of an era for me, don't think we will reach the heights we did with you as captain ever again to be honest, you and Huth were phenomenal together, and thanks for sticking with Stoke City for almost all of your career, good luck to you in the future, and your family ๐๐๐

Well we have it straight from the horse's mouth, O'Neill's quote In the Sentinel...we were never building for promotion this season.that probably explains some of the tactics and negative team selections, thank goodness we weren't allowed in this season to waste our money to watch our team tread water, not knowing mid table was our goal all along.

Yes he does good things without the ball, the problems start when he has the ball... when he finally gets it under control,at this stage of his career his first touch is abysmal, and that doesn't usually change, let alone his distribution to also work on,take away his pace and what's left ??

Well, that's something to look forward to....NOT !! two of the problems we have got this season, and they will be that bit slower next season, brilliant management...does he want the sack,or is he totally inept ??

Post by boweryboy on Mar 4, 2021 11:16:35 GMT
The worry is,they have been the problem for a long time now....and O'Neill chooses to ignore the fact,is O'Neill really up to the job if he can't see something that obvious to everyone else...5 wins in 20 odd games and counting !!

Nothing wrong with drawing a foul...what is wrong is that we never seem to capitalise on them, which is a wasted opportunity to score,Powell was wasteful yesterday,as he had three good opportunities and put all three chances over the bar,you have got to work the goalkeeper, someone may then get a tap in from a rebound !!

Exactly.....the players he keeps picking from are just not good enough, you can shuffle the pack as many times as you want, but the performance is getting predictable,I would like to see a couple of the younger players given a chance,as others have been given chance after chance with embarrassing results, basically what we are seeing at the moment isn't working !!
