Gotten very lucky, an no doubt we just missed two great opportunities to be second, or even top.
That said, still all to play for and hopefully something is learnt from the dodgy lineup.

To be honest all it proves is you can't put a sliver of paper between most of the teams in the Championship.
4 points more and we are 1st, 4 points less and we are 14th.
I think we are about average for this division and will ultimately end up in mid-table.

Yes I agree , I also think we are pinning to much hope on Campbell, we seem to pass the ball across the back , side to side and get no where

But we’ve wasted two very very easy games and managed one point.
That is relegation form.

But we’ve wasted two very very easy games and managed one point. That is relegation form. Do you know anything at all about the Championship? There are no 'very very easy games' in this division. It has always been a league where the bottom team can beat the top. By your logic, Fulham and West Brom are also showing relegation form.

There’s only “no easy games” because more or less every team in the division is complete crud. We should have won both the last two games easily.

That’s the nature of this league
While it’s obviously very frustrating for ourselves this week I’ve no doubt they’ll be WBA and Fulham fans saying the same thing. A big missed opportunity yes but nothing to go mad about

Fulham lost to Reading, Birmingham lost to Peterborough, Middlesbrough lost to Blackpool...
This division is bonkers. We see it year-in-year-out, there'll be weeks when you get results so weird, nothing seems to make sense at all. From what I've seen so far, we are likely to be in the top half of the division, nowhere near ready for automatic promotion but definitely in with a shout of the play-offs, alongside a good number of other sides.
Nine times out of ten we'd have won that game against Barnsley, and a similar performance v Hull should see us back to winning ways.

Without all the admin stuff, I don't think Derby would have been down there. Only Cov and Bournemouth have conceded fewer, and even if you look at their XG stuff, they're very decent defensively - miles above the bottom teams. I think they're a lower mid-table team in the normal run of things - the kind of team that a team with pretensions to finish top-half lose to all the time
They were always going to be a tough nut, especially when they've got something to hang on to after a freak 5 minutes.
Where we could be unlucky is if the fight starts to pretty quickly drain out of them as the adrenaline goes and they realise they're absolutely screwed - and we catch them on the one day they were still fighting like tigers.
And we obviously would have beaten Barnsley 95 times out of 100 given the run of the game.
There's only ever a couple of teams, normally with the parachute millions, who can build a team good enough to escape the barmy nature of this league - and we were always unlikely to be one of them.

We have won four games & you can only say one of them was a convincing win the other 3 were scappy wins which we could have drawn or even lost. I am with March on the last 2 games we need to be beating teams like that if we are serious about being in the top six. Yesterday poor tactics & team selection cost us big time.

Somehow not changed from being inconsistent either, even with all the changes to the team, that's down to O'Neill....he picks the team and tactics, who else would pick two left footers to play on the right with Ince and Clucas being two of the biggest bottlers in the squad, who should not be here let alone in the team, our back three are exposed because of our weakness on the right hand side, teams are coming inside and having pot shots at our goal at will,so O'Neill get your head from up your arse and sort it ASAP !!!

It's not uncommon to get in the play-offs having lost 13, 14 or even 15 games.
That's this league, and always has been

I think we'll be close. We've had this debate before though - it's admittedly only because it'll be a contest between lots of average teams and there'll be 5 or 6 very flawed, mediocre teams going for the last couple of places.

Yes I can remember the debate. I'm less than convinced still. I look at some of the other teams in and around us and whilst I still see more man for man quality in our squad in certain areas (Back three and creativity in midfield) I see more overall balance in other teams and I think that counts for a hell of a lot in this league. I really think it will catch us out over the longer term.
