A sale must be made this summer. Who though with Campbell and Collins injured.

He will stay for another year, but I’d be surprised if he signed another deal beyond that.

He's happy here but if a big offer came along like any ambitious young player he could be tempted. Gouranga.

A player who is involved in over 20 goals a season is at the least going to be a prime target for any team trying to get promoted.
Really hope we can keep him

That’s what they’ve been saying during the Radio Stoke commentaries, which would be very unfortunate because Souttar and Collins could prove to be the best back two pair since Huth and Shawcross.

They’ll extend his contract just to increase his sale value, even if they can’t keep. He’s one player where extending his contract makes sense, irrespective of whether he leaves or stays.

If we sell Collins to one of the big boys, maybe we can loan him back for a season and he can do his bit to help us get promotion. It would sweeten the pill a little.

If the stories about him being a massive Cheshire homebody and family man are true, you'd think we need only worry about teams within an hour's drive of Crewe who are both
-a clear step-up -and who'd pay him more than the relative King's ransom Bosman wage he's on here.
I think the list of teams ticking all 3 boxes will be pretty small thankfully.
(Suppose it's possible he'll keep his options open, see how we do next season - and see what Bosman offers he can attract next summer though?)

I agree mate, I'd be surprised if he did move, given what you've said.

Barry Bannon has stuck with a club who haven't lived up to his talent and ability. Hopefully Nick can stay and help us get better results.

Man United? to be fair if we get good money for one player which means us being able to strengthen in 2 or 3 areas I could understand .Don't want to see us lose our best players but in the long run it could make sense.

I loved how he kept the positive momentum going from a corner by making space and crossing for Brown to score. So often we see a corner result in a safety first pass back to our half, while the centre backs trundle back into position. Refreshing to see Powell buck this trend.
I think he'll stay if MON can convince him we're serious about next season.

If we sell Collins, we’ll have to rely on Ba’ath and Souttar, which is fine. However, if one of them gets injured the back-up is Chester. In theory we could use the money to strengthen other areas, however, that would be at the expense of weakening the one aspect of the game, defense, that we are very good at. Furthermore, we may not be able to use the money anyway, because it will be needed to balance the books to avoid FFP penalties.

I think Chester, who has been highly reliable this season (compared to last season when he wasn't) is ahead of Batth in the pecking order to be fair to Danny since his fuck up at Rotherham he's been very good, anonymous (which is a good sign in a centre back) If we do sell Collins - hope not, 1 more year please - then it has to be for big bucks we could always sign another CB

I like this idea if we do end up selling him. I'm sure he'd be open to it as well, since he'd be able to develop more here and still get that big move. It sounds logical and ideal for everyone (if he's sold) so that means I'm sure Scholes will fuck it up.

You may be right, Muff, but on what are you basing your confidence? - these big earners, we have, have to be paid and even where we have clubs willing to take them on loan will probably be asking for a contribution towards their wage? Looks a little dicey to me.
