We've got to be about 3/1 at the moment. That still means we get out of it 75% of the time. Not sure what this 7/1 and 8/1 is about. 3/1 and shortening slightly with every game we don't win I say.

This week he mostly gets a pass from me as the changes were forced on him due to: 3 games in a week Injuries Paper thin squad due to quite a few personalities not being up for the fight Injuries I’ll give you but a professional athlete should be able to play 3 games in a week. Does anyone know how many changes they made? 6 I think.

This looks like a season highlight. Go on. Was it a protest about the lack of Burger?

Amazing how different people can see things. I’m very worried after today. I think we’re more likely than not to go down. We can’t score goals. If someone can tell me how they think we’ll score goals then I’ll feel better. But we simply can’t score. So we will continue to lose matches. We have the players to be mid table but SS needs to pick the right ones and set them up properly. In a week, we have gone from suicidally attacking with full backs pushing on, one holding midfielder and a high line, to 9 outfield players behind the ball and one isolated attacker. It is shambolic. We have 4 forwards, Ennis, Campbell, Maaee and Million who are better than what we had last year and Burger, Bae and one other are a competitive midfield. Tell the defence to def end and attack selectively and we will be fine. Keep chopping and changing and imagining we are playing Man City every week and we will be in trouble. Good analysis.

Injuries forced his hand today with the team selection. We did pretty well in the circumstances and it’s clear he hasn’t lost the dressing room. If we keep putting the same effort in that we have today we’ll be fine. I was really worried after the Blackburn game but now I’m ok. Agree. But we probably need to score a few goals. That's my biggest concern: how we win games.

QPR, Huddersfield and Swansea are all shite. As are we. And we have nothing to offer but huff and puff. Nobody leading. No bollocks to fight back when it goes wrong. We have to be amongst the favourites to go. I reckon Wednesday are on the up and will get out of it convincingly including a convincing win over us. The fight was good today, as it should be, but just an almost complete lack of quality and composure in the final third of the pitch.

I don't think he was playing for a draw; I think he was playing to win 1-0. But we have fuck all up front and the defenders are collectively going to make a mistake which gives the opposition an easy chance to score every game. It's suicidal football.

The likes of Hoever always have a mistake in them. It's why, if you're the manager and playing to not give goals away and nick one yourself, you tell the players exactly what they have to do with the ball.
At right back for instance, you don't dribble the ball across the defence to try and look for a pass because there's real danger you'll lose it and give the opposition an easy chance to score a goal.
Schumacher's woken up too late to the grind it out and stay up mentality and him and the players are having to go from some Harlem Globetrotters mentality to a solid defensive setup and it's unlikely to work, especially when clean sheets and nicking goals aren't likely.
It's great to have non-negotiables in terms of effort but you've got to have some in a footballing sense as well and that includes not twatting about 30 yards from your own goal. It's basic, Hoever can't do it for 90 minutes and the same applies to quite a few of our squad.
At least it was this week and not next week but fucking hell, we are in the shit big time.

Yeah, we're doing alright here. Every player on the pitch is limited and unlikely to play higher but it's alright. Reminds me of 02/03 when we got battered away at Forest and Pulis realised we just needed to dig in and grind out the rest of the season. Given the 10 years in the Premier League and the shambles that has followed it shouldn't be the case, but so what? It's where we are, it's what we have at our disposal and it's doing the job today. Get safe and then see what happens next season when Schumacher has more time to get his ideas across. I appreciate people won't like it but this is very necessary at the moment. If we set up to draw, more often than not we’ll lose. You have to give them some pause for thought. I think we've set up to try and nick it 1-0. It's Pulis all over. If you concede early, you're fucked. That also applies to the second half. We're doing alright though.

Obviously set up for a point Offering absolutely nothing final third and apart from that huge let off, been reasonably comfortable also at the other end but they have decent forward players, we don't . Why can't we make simple 10 yard passes? Has their keeper touched the ball in open play? Why can't we make simple 10 yard passes? Don't know. But it's been a problem for the 30 years I've been watching so I'll try not to lose sleep over it. Has their keeper touched the ball in open play? Yes, at least once. Left-footed clearance under a bit of pressure.

Anyone upset at that needs to reset their expectations. It's not 2012 anymore. The reality is that Coventry visit us as clear favourites, and the manager has picked a team to show heart, grit and determination. That's exactly what they have done, and we can't ask much more than that if we're in a relegation battle. 11 men who give a toss. Pulis-esque, as above. Long may it continue. Yeah, we're doing alright here. Every player on the pitch is limited and unlikely to play higher but it's alright. Reminds me of 02/03 when we got battered away at Forest and Pulis realised we just needed to dig in and grind out the rest of the season. I assume Iversen and McNally out injured and a knock to Burger but any explanation from SS or the coaching staff about the other changes? Just generic: - 3 games in a week - Some players recover quicker than others Schumacher averaged 5 team changes at Plymouth apparently.

It kind of makes sense.
Of those who folk may say should be in the team: - Burger took a knock Wednesday and has played a lot - Bae is clearly a Schumacher favourite and has been playing a lot. Fatigued? - McNally must have a knock as he isn't on the bench - Tchamadeu has looked off the pace since coming back from AFCON - Iversen must have a knock as he isn't on the bench - Ennis has barely played this season, is probably not considered up to three games in a week and will be a threat off the bench - Campbell I'm not sure. Injured? Shit attitude? - Manhoef: possibly the only one who should be given another runout given the above?

Going to drink through it and hope for the best.

I'll qualify this post by saying I live in Cornwall, very rarely get to games these days - maybe one every couple of years on average and Southampton at home so far this season - and for the last 10 years have watched maybe 10-15 a season via streams due to work committments and general apathy/finding something "better" to do. However, my record is appalling. I realised I hadn't seen us win this season so trawled back through the fixture lists and found that Reading away on 7th November 2020 was the last game I watched where we got the three points. To give everyone an idea this season so far I've seen Millwall away, Leicester away, Sheffield Wednesday at home, Millwall at home, Ipswich at home, Sunderland away and Blackburn away on streams and that Southampton game live. 6 losses and 2 draws. Depressing stuff. But yeah, it's generally been a depressing season and a pretty dire few years to watch Stoke. Pure luck obviously. But... 22/23: no wins seen 21/22: no wins seen 20/21: Reading away 19/20: Cardiff home 18/19: Millwall home 17/18: no wins seen 16/17: Swansea home, Watford away (was actually in Minnesota watching at 6am for this one; maybe a hint at what my strategy should be) Not right is it? If a butterfly (me) flaps its wings and decides to watch Stoke in Falmouth, they don't win. Chaos theory. Not Coates or Coates or Scholes or Hughes or Lambert or Rowett or Jones or O'Neill or Neil or Schumacher or Martin or Dublin...but me. I am the bringer of chaos. If anyone feels down about all things Stoke City please know there is probably always someone feeling more down. Or have I been shielded from the worst of it by only watching 25% of the debacle in the first place? Anyway: should I watch this afternoon? I'm not working.

I didn’t know how good he was on free kicks, what a ball in for their 3rd today. The bunch of twats. Decent strike as well for his goal… Him sitting, Bellingham roaming - that’s some pairing plus one more to come in for the Euros. Could just stick those two and Mainoo in there and let them all do whatever they want.

I haven’t read this thread as being against foreign players at all - just that our attempt to bring in good quality continental players has, by and large been a failure. We need to recruit someone who know more about overseas players - a foreign manager perhaps - to improve our chances to a) find good prospects and b) play them in the right way ……..so not coming across as xenophobic at all, just an observation on our current recruitment team malaise….. It's probably 50/50 though isn't it? Burger and Bae have been really good and our best two players overall. Better than than any players from the British side of our "strategy".

You're a decent bloke but fucking hell, this is such a bad take. Thanks for the compliment but I don’t share that belief Mmaee-total lack of effort and interest Vidigal -couldn’t give two fucks,no fight Chiquinho-sent back bad attitude, couldn’t give a shit Leris-done nothing but at least he runs around abit Haksabanovic-done absolutely nothing Wesley-utter dogshit Yes I accept there’s plenty of British players also that have been shit but we’ve wasted loads of dosh on players that haven’t got the first clue about championship football All the players I've listed should have a clue about Championship football but have been shite. Nationality has nothing to do with it. We've signed poor players across the board. Our recruitment team are the ones who have no clue.

Guy wants a back four of Stevens Gooch Wilmot Rose Junior. I’d play a back 6 Nah go with the back 4 idea but with 5 players. The ref will never catch on given the standard of our defending recently.

We’re last in the same division in 97/98 there’s a real chance for the first time in 27 years it could happen again. Good god how have we ended up in this situation. Fa cup finalists not that long ago. It was 13 years ago. In the 13 years before that we went down, got taken over, eventually came back up, got taken over again, went up and settled in the Premier League. 13 years can be a long time in football.

The space Blackburn’s attackers had on the counter in the first 30 minutes was genuinely like a Sunday League game. We were lucky they only scored 3. I genuinely can't remember watching another professional football match where there was that much space. You're not talking 10-15 yards, you are talking almost half a pitch in some instances. If he can't sit back tonight or tomorrow and watch the match and work out where its going wrong then i have no idea how he's managed to get this far. I was talking to a Plymouth fan the other night - benefit of living in Cornwall - and he said Schumacher's gung-ho approach worked in League One but that he was being found out at this level.
