Go against your natural instincts and just try giving the bloke a bit of support - it’s the best for all concerned in the circumstances 👍 He deserves no support. He gets backed , plays well , Stoke benefit. Basic thinking on my part I agree but it’s got to be the aim hasn’t it ?? Or are you in this for some sort of masochistic pleasure I’m (thankfully) not aware of ?

Go against your natural instincts and just try giving the bloke a bit of support - it’s the best for all concerned in the circumstances 👍 He loves giving out online abuse at people without realising he’s doing it Yet on threads discussing it he speaks out against it Fuckin confuses me Me too - anyone has a right to a view on a player but the incessant derogatory stuff about players who are currently plying their trade for the club we all hope wins of a Sat afternoon leaves me cold and a bit disappointed. I hasten to add it’s not just Bayern.

Not particularly no. Nothing spectacularly good but not drastically poor either. Like I said I’ve seen plenty of keepers prone to many more drastic clangers than Bonham has ever dropped. We’d be better off with a fan in goal. At least it’s funny unlike that clown. Go against your natural instincts and just try giving the bloke a bit of support - it’s the best for all concerned in the circumstances 👍

To reply might imply I think Bonham is a bad keeper which I don’t but just for 3 goal keeping mares off the top of the head try the likes of Pressman, Marshall and Siddal . I’m sure there will be more. People are transferring all our previous defensive woes very unfairly onto Bonham’s shoulders. You don’t think Bonham is a bad keeper? What? Not particularly no. Genuinely, who are the worse keepers than Bonham we've had in the last 20 years? Just for the record I’ve seen far worse keepers than Jack Bonham playing for this club. The responses here border on the hysterical.

It’s an interesting point - what exactly should we give AN any credit for ? Surely there must be something he’s done / is doing well ? No manager with a half decent record such as his suddenly becomes a complete blithering idiot.

I’m a bit tired of hearing about his ever changing tactics and I’m a bit tired of hearing about the good things that are happening despite the fact we never stop losing football matches. I think Mr Neil needs to stop theorising and start doing whatever it takes to win games. I really thought he had more about him than this.

Given a choice between the Cricket World Cup and our fixture list in Oct I know what I’d be opting for ! A couple of weeks of Delhi belly/Ghandis revenge ? I don’t even like Indian food ...... but yep I still think I would rather take my chances in the sub continent rather than watch the upcoming carnage on Saturday !

When do we learn that creating a never ending succession of scapegoats achieves absolutely nothing. If only our problems were as simple as one player deemed to be underperforming.

I think the players are putting a shift in for him. I also think our problems / league position are entirely predictable (although exacerbated by injuries) - many of us said signings weren’t happening quickly enough when you looked at the potential nightmare of the Oct fixture list. What I do find a bit unforgivable is the very basic oversight of providing the team with a well resourced and effective defensive unit when signing the vast amount of players he did. I have never heard him or the recruitment bloke be asked why this was allowed to happen. Surely to goodness it should have been the basis upon which any push up the table should have been built.

For everyone involved in this thread if you’ve got Sky do yourselves a favour tomorrow morning and tune into Penrith Panthers against Brisbane Broncos in the NRL final. If they maintain the standards they have set all season it will put what’s on offer in this World Cup into a very clear context !! 🙂

I expect the club not to be consistently losing to other teams that have significantly less in the way of resources / facilities etc etc. The bar hasn’t lowered one iota just because we’ve been rubbish for the last 5 or 6 years.

I would say it’s being proud of what / who we are and tugging our forelock to no other club whatever their supposed status. When we were (relatively) successful we were stacked with players who believed this and just got on with their job. We could always ask for someone like Denis Smith’s GP to see if they could provide us with a bit for cloning!

You can only say what you see and defensively he gives me zero confidence. .....having said that how important is stopping the opposition scoring for a central defender these days ??

Nothing reflected well on him today. I fear he will start to lose credibility amongst the playing staff very soon if this continues.

Some of the issues are nothing to do with 'gelling'. The inability to defend a set piece isn't anything to do with that. The headless chickening off the ball isn't anything to do with that. That's the manager and coaching team's responsibility to address. What I do like is the quick passing and interplay in the final third, haven't seen much like that from us at all since we were relegated and once that clicks we're going to have some fun. We need stronger foundations further back though. This sums it all up for me. Ok there is a ‘settling in ‘ period but very soon we have got to start playing like a side with real intent and purpose or this going to be another season written off. We should have gotten all the basics sorted by now - if we did that it could be a very entertaining spectacle.

At some time in the future the PL will start paying people to attend games - extras in what is basically a television event.

I think the defence is an ongoing mess that should have been priority No. 1 in the transfer window. Well, they conceded one today, but the forwards failed to score a single one. There's our biggest problem. The defence is fine, as long as we don't get injuries. But we are unbalanced with 3 RBs, 3 CBs and only 1 LB. I really wouldn’t claim to know what is our go to defensive line up (does AN?) - however the inability to stop the opposition scoring in all but one game this season doesn’t fill me with confidence and as injuries and suspensions usually abound for defensive players surely we should have made sure we had appropriate cover.

I think the defence is an ongoing mess that should have been priority No. 1 in the transfer window. Agree with this and when he took McNally off against Preston I knew he wouldn’t play today,I’m pretty sure McNally came here to play and not sit on the bench and I’m amazed he’s not starting I thought Neil would see a return to good old fashioned pragmatic management. Get the basics right and add the fiddly bits later. Instead we seem to have signed a zillion players none of whom address the basic issues we have been suffering from for years.

One clean sheet kept all season combined with a failure to score in half the fixtures tells us everything we need to know about where this is heading. Weve got a very good centre half in wilmot and mcnally on loan who's brilliant at this level, still not a fan of rose. I think the defence is an ongoing mess that should have been priority No. 1 in the transfer window.
