“Look at his face! Just look at his face!” When he scored for Derby against his old team Man City at Maine Road. The Barry Davies commentary that will live forever. Will always remember his punch up with Norman Hunter as well

English football's first Chinese signing, ran the old joke...Lee one pen.
Squared up to Norman Hunter quite happily if I remember rightly.

As soon as I saw the title of the thread I immediately thought of the punch up against Leeds. A fight of Clay v Foreman proportions. RIP Franny you were a great player.

Tremendous player.
Should have signed him instead of Shilton. He went to Derby and they won the league.

Tremendous player. Should have signed him instead of Shilton. He went to Derby and they won the league. Waddo wanted to sign him while he was still at Bolton, but unfortunately (for us) he chose Man City. R.I.P.

Tremendous player. Should have signed him instead of Shilton. He went to Derby and they won the league. was that rumoured at the time? understand why we signed Shilton, he ended up as a World class keeper for Forest & Saints understand why we could have just stuck with the perfectly competent Framer & spent the money on a striker anyway RIP Franny, iconic footballer

Tremendous player. Should have signed him instead of Shilton. He went to Derby and they won the league. I'm sure I read somewhere that Stoke were in for him when he left Bolton for Manchester City and that Tony Waddington always maintained that, had he chosen Stoke, we would have won the league that season. RIP. Great entertainer.

He was a game lil fucker was Franny. RIP We were talking about this in the office today when we heard the breaking news. And we also mentioned his toilet paper factory. Didn’t Peter Kay work there for a short while as well? I’m sure he mentioned it on Parky.

Remember him getting and scoring a pen against Stoke, probably early 70s, might have been a Boxing Day, he sure knew how to take a pen

I had the pleasure of meeting him on numerous occasions about 10 to 15 years ago.
It was as a consequence of a mutual friend and nothing to do with me. It was usually at a Charity Ball or something similar and he was usually with his lovely wife and also Mike Summerbee, together with his wife.
He was an absolute gentleman and he told me on more than one occasion that the Victoria Ground was one of his favourite away grounds.
He loved the atmosphere and Mike Summerbee always agreed with him; they both obviously loved playing at Stoke.
He was also from a different era and told me that he would often have to deliver paper before driving to Maine Road to play for Man City on a Saturday afternoon.
He really was lovely and as I say, he was a huge admirer of Stoke, or at least the fans of Stoke.
He was a big fan of Alan Hudson and Jimmy Greenhoff too;
A very sad day and my condolences to his family
RIP Franny.
