Time and time again our games follow the same pattern week after week, opposition score first, they then concede ground and possession and we’re clueless in front of goal. All 4 defeats have us with more possession but no goal threat We need something different to open teams up when we go behind and we simply haven’t got it. Neil cannot continue coming out with the same old bollocks everytime this happens because it’s becoming a massive issue following on from the same last season. Sort it out Alex or it’s going to be a long hard season yet again

Yes, completely toothless and weak at the back.
I'm so angry with that performance, nowhere near the level required. Sort it out Alex.

Sort it out Alex or it’s going to be a long hard season yet again I don't see any intent in our attacking play. There is an obvious lack of players with any goal scoring instinct. It's so clear to see. After scoring a goal opposition teams could play in the own half for the rest of the game merrily tbh knowing they only have to the basics to get through it. At the same time we look vulnerable at the back.

Ben Pearson summed it up for me in the 94th minute. In centre midfield 10 yds in their half. Turned left, nothing on (allegedly) recycled right (nothing on apparently), recycled left (still nothing on apparently). Can't remember what he ended up doing with the ball but for me, with 30 secs left on the clock I am all for banging the ball into the box and forcing a corner or hoping for a break on the 2nd ball. Trying to walk the ball into the net in the last minute is not really an option for me.

The signs are already worrying.
We don't have anyone to stick the ball in the net, and our defence looks like it's been picked at random out of the Rothman's Football Annual. That usually spells big trouble.

Campbell alone had 3 clear cut chances, Habs, Gayle both good chances. Two go in you win the game, one , you get a point. They put bodies galore in their box second half. I agree we need to stop giving stupid goals away, but anyone thinking this team, whichever 11, would churn results out straight away need to think again. Points need to be picked up but you won't see the best of this squad for a good while yet. Glass half full for me.

Bringing Gayle on says it all, end of match. Would prefer to see a youngster on the pitch. Gayle doesn't do anything and is pointless, if he gets a chance then he misses anyway. At least a youngster would gain a bit of experience.

Need to play 4231 with Bae behind Wesley/Mmaee.
Our primary striker is always isolated. It allows teams to double up and it allows the psychological advantage of knowing that even if you win your battle, no one is around to help.

The squad just isn’t balanced.
1 proper striker (not counting Gayle).
3 CBs.
1 LB.
It’s ridiculous.

One clean sheet kept all season combined with a failure to score in half the fixtures tells us everything we need to know about where this is heading.

Teams just mark Wesley and we have no runners or players around him. Thought sead looked good though, definitely deserves a run of games left of the 3. Bae behind with Campbell for now.

I'm genuinely perplexed by what's going on and how our players are coached and asked to play because I just don't see a game plan or any character in the side.

It allows teams to double up and it allows the psychological advantage of knowing that even if you win your battle, no one is around to help. Burger was trying to get close to the central striker today but he’s not enough on his own. There needs to be decent interplay between the front 3 but they were all isolated today. Gooch did a decent enough job but the need to cut in constantly meant that Bae had to really stay wide because it was just congesting things if he didn’t. Leris was useless on the other side. Ideally you want decent attacking full backs to bomb on and provide the width with players like Bae and Campbell getting into the inside areas and closer to the central striker. We didn’t do anything remotely like that today and it’s telling that when Norwich weren’t just sitting back we were creating fuck all. The tactics, or the players understanding of the tactics clearly need some work.

The point you make is valid in this specific instance but I know you agree with me really😁. The slow approach may yield dividends occasionally (it never delivers momentum). 1 better ball in 10 attempts would seem to justify our approach. I wonder how many goals we would have scored with a more 'basic' approach? It couldn't be any worse could it, or is it all about not compromising principles?

Yeah, we're boxed in with Mmaee injured - and even he is a complete unknown at this point. But we need Wes to be a very limited plan B for a certain type of home game, as Neil was referencing. Massive shame we didn't get Thomas-Asante in. We can't afford to have a big lump with the mobility of David Attenborough and the goal threat of Dame Judi Dench leading the line in this type of away game. At least Gayle can move.
