Sorry if posted before but can't see it. I caught the train for a change on Sat and had a few beers. When walking to the Gardeners I was shocked to see the Victoria open again. I was talking to the landlord and he has some big plans for it for next season. 3 big screens (has 1 at the mo) and busses to the Brit with secure parking at the pub. Very strange going back in there though. Not been in since the Old Vic was standing. Forgot how big it is as well. If he builds it up right it could be a very good place for next season.

Ferking immense. Used to love The Victoria back in the day. Will check that one out next game. Be warned mate. When I went in it was very quiet although I was early. In desperate need of decoration too so go in with an open mind and don't expect to see the great pub of old. Like I say it could be very good next season though.

Fantastic boozer with wall to wall sawdust - the remnants of last nights furniture ;D
Reminded me of how a saloon in the wild west ought to be. Remember taking a mate who was a Baggies fan in there, for some reason he became very self conscious about his strong brummie accent never said a word and was relieved to get out in one piece.
That's what mates are for!

i drove past a few weeks ago & saw them `doing the place up`, me, my missus & mate all agreed that the vic was an important part of matchdays & will be the place we go before matches when its done. MAGIC place, i can`t wait, i don`t go in the harvester as its tiny & in no way matches the atmos of the victoria so this is nowt short of a miracle!!!!

I remember in the 80`s Wet sham hoolies walking past at 5 to 3pm, just as it was emptying, god it frightened me, it was absolute mayhem for about 5 minutes, i was physically sick in the ground.

Tended to drink in the Talbot /Sheaf , only occasionally going in the Vic as the beer on the pumps was awful..was in the good beer guide(GBG) many moons ago. think the discription was somelike colourful clientel...and that it was the largest pub in England when it was built. No surprise it survived on matchday trade and was more of a bottle bar by the end Charlie Browns was also in the GBG I recall..imagine being an away fan and using the guide back then to find a quiet place for a pint on matchday and going in either of those two

The last time i went in there i was 14 and Stoke were at home to Bolton. If you were the bloke that got my beers for me thankyou for supplying my beer with the money i stole from raffle tickets proceeds i was supposed to give my school ;D Used to goto Cheers in Stoke and then onto the Vic before the game with my old mates from school, them were the days. Good luck Mr Landlord i may pop in b4 the West Ham game and buy my own beers this time unless there is anyone wanting to buy any raffle tickets

It prob hasn't been decorated since the last time you were in. ;D He said he has only been open 3 weeks and he is aiming to have it up and running by next season.

Proper pub, used it alot, mainly on way to match then after, after drinking in town, then on to the Supporters Club opposite the main entrance. 5 to 3 then on to the match.... not that I saw too many kick offs ;D Who were we playing at the Vic when some dickhead let off the CS cannister in there..... Joeinoz would have loved it, grown blokes blarting outside the pub trying to get some fresh air.... and there was snot as well ;D
