Ay Up Geezers!!!
Bloody eck...it's years since I posted on the Oatie: Lou Macari was the gaffer and the board was full of Coates Out threads! How times change eh...fortunately for the better in this instance.
Do we have any other Stokies in my neck of the woods?
Cheers The Nobster

Ay UP, Nobster!
I'm just across the pond from you. We have a family tradition of one week in Singapore around National Day each year and always stay at Furama.

One of the best pints I have ever had was in Singapore. Had been in Bali for three weeks without any Guiness. Was stopping off for a night in Singapore on the way home and had heared of an Irish bar on Orchard Road. It was my mission to find said bar and drink her dry. Walked for what seemed like an age before finding her below a hotel, walked in to air conditioned heaven with Guiness on draft, and England live on the telly beating Luxemburg 5-0 ;D ;D ;D

Hey up!
I used to live in Singapore, 1981 to 1985. I went back for a 5 days last September to catch up with a few old friends, shit, has it changed! We stayed at the Tanglin Cub where I'm still a member, had a great time. I used to live up Mount Faber, went back for look and my old house is still there. Fond memories!

Is it a life membership you have? Cheers S. Nobby

It's now an Absent Members Membership but it means that I can use the facilities whenever I'm in Singapore, not bad for £48 a year eh?!

That's brilliant! Stokies in the Tanglin Oh yes, had both home and away shirts on several times around the pool. My company paid my entrance fee when I lived there so I continued my membership ever since, it's always been just £48. I love the place and my family did to - first time they'd been there last September.

Know Murphy's well from my times in Singapore. Great 'oasis' pub, but unfortunately never got to watch a Stoke game there - only Aussie rules seemed to be on!!
Just in Guangzhou right now, where there is a brilliant Irish pub aptly named 'Paddy Fields'!! Anyone know this particular watering hole? Had the pleasure of watching live transmission of the Liverpool 0-0 Stoke game early doors this season - became full of quite a few very quiet scousers at midnight!!

Did you try the Penny Black on Boat Quay, during your time in Singapore??? Excellent for the big games (particularly involving Stoke!) I'm due to visit a couple of Ship Yards in Guangzhou in about 6 weeks. Maybe catch you for a pint in Paddy's? Cheers Nobster

Not been in Singapore for a while.
Raffles is ok but much prefer the Mandarin.
Great place to be.

Thanks in advance Muddy Murphy's on Orchard Road - opposite Orchard Towers will no doubt show the game upstairs. The Penny Black at Boat Quay is also a good bet. I'm sure Nobby will fill you in with the details, but you'll have no probs watching a 'Man U' game over there. Muddy Murphy's is just round the corner from their Singapore 'shop' (sic....indeed) R PS - Nobby, you're not a Pennyfields lad are you?

Thanks in advance Hi Carl, The Brewerkz may have the game on, but Harrys on the mariner will defo be showing the game. Lot's of Man Ure fans there also...and at least one of them has been to the UK! I would recommend you jumping in a taxi down to Boat Quay and watching it at the Penny Black, drinking London Pride. Chances are I'll be there and the match WILL be ON! Cheers Nobby
