Davie!! I think most of us understand that no matter how much we'd like deals settled by now, it's pretty normal for all negotiations to go to the wire, and Footballers won't be any different! Can you give an "Out of 10" for the list below, regarding the in's & out? Understand if you can't, but it gives us a feel for what's going on: 1: Palacios in? 2: O-Hara in? 3: Brown in? 4: Noble in? 5: Ireland in? 6: Jerome in? 7: Rodellega in? 8: Jenas in? 9: Adams in? 10: Fuller out? 11: Tuncay out? Sorry to put you on the spot mate!

Tuncay is skilful but doesn't have good balance hence he gets knocked off the ball. Conversely, Ric has excellent skill + balance so tends to keep the ball. A very underated skill in my opinion. Exactly Mate! This balance, coupled with Rick's strength make him a formidable opponent (When he Wants!) Rick is one of the best Players I've ever seen in muscling past Defenders. I hope we keep Rick, and if any of the Strikers go, it should be Tunny before Rick, because we need the "unusual" and Rick, imo, would supply it more often and better than Tunny

I think yesterday was deffo a damage limitation exercise. We are well equipped to see off a Team like Fulham, this isn't being disrespectful, it's just an honest assessment, remember last Jan in the snow? TP gets it right 9 times out of 10, but with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I think even TP would say that we were set up wrong yesterday. I would have reverted to Rory & Deano in the middle, and Pennant out wide (Unless he really was pissed in Brasso's, in which case TP should rip him a new arsehole, because that is letting everyone of US down!) Either way, we are still a club on the up. but it won't be without it's set backs, we just have to, as TP says, "Take it on the Chin" and move on. We are evolving as a Club, and for all of the Guys who were there in the 60's & 70's, of which I was one, then yes, we had some fantastic Players, and played some incredible Football, but we had a Defence full of Assassins who set the foundations up for all the Artists. Also remember that in early 1974. we were languishing in the bottom half of the League, until we spent £240k to bring a certain Alan Hudson in to run the show! We lost only twice more that Season (I Think) ended Leeds unbeaten run, and ended up fifth in the League. Sounds familiar to many of the Posts on here asking for Midfield Guidance? Maybe History repeating it's self!! I fookin hope so, just make sure the Stand is Insured!!!

Small beer in the full context of the Prem though! We need to understand we are operating at a different level now, and a million here and there will be wasted, that's the nature of the beast I'm afraid How much did we pay for Kitson, small beer really ! Without a doubt! We are moving in different circles now, so as I said earlier, we need to get used to Telepone numbers as Costs, because this is the league we are in. Specualte to accumulate, and I would guess the net effect is still ok, especially in terms of improvement and results

And the money he spent on Etherington, Begovic, Fuller, Shawcross, Huth...... And the money wasted on Collins,Kitson,Davies,Tongue,Soares...... Small beer in the full context of the Prem though! We need a RB because Wilko, even though I love the Guys, is just not good enough. He will be ok as cover, but not if we want to improve as a Team.
We just nned to be honest about this, and forget that he's a local lad done good. His attitude is fantastic, and in Wilko, we see ourselves out there living the dream

I don't know what everyone's problem is with Carew, he doesn't like Houllier and it clearly hasn't been working out for him at Villa, I think we should all stop saying "he's fucking wank" or anything of the same ilk. Get behind the lad, i'd have cut my left bollock off to get him here last season so why should this year be any different. Form is temporary, class is permanent! As with the signings these are the ones who I would like to see: In; Roberto Canella John O'Shea Wilson Palacios Curtis Davies Daniel Sturridge Out; Ricardo Fuller (Unfortunately it's nailed on) Glenn Whelan Abdoulaye Faye Eidur Gudjohnsen i've come to realise that when tone puts a price on a head, he'll get him regardless He wanted KJ, Carew and Jerome so don't be surprised I've stopped having an opinion because i tend to find i'm left looking a bit of a twat...we'll be alright I think KJ, Big John & Jerome would be TP's wet dream! And If I'm being honest, if we all just chill a bit, and put the Rick thing into perspective, then it looks full of goals? I love Rick, and he's one of the most exciting Players I've seen in my 35 years of watching Stoke, but it's getting more and more infrequent. There comes a point, and PC has already touched on it, when as painful as it appears, we need to move on. This is NOTHING like the Greenhoff Transfer, when we were on our arses, and selling our best player & Captain to a Team we fookin hate, this is a move, that as sensitive as it appears, we are making for no other reason than TP & PC think it will improve us longer term. Painful though! Goaaaarn Stoke!

I'll miss Rick (If He Goes) but lets take the emotion out of all this, Rick hasn't really set the world on fire this season, yes the goal against Brum was fookin amazin, but TP will look at his record, his age, his Injuries, and be looking at the future. Is Jerome the answer? Who knows, but Jerome has a far better record coming into the Club than Rick had when he came in, so I think if this goes ahead, and Jerome can score 10 to 12 per season, and bring that pace to the Team, then he has to be seen as a success. There are very few players in 35 years of watching Stoke, who have made me stand up when he gets the ball just inside the opponents half like Rick does, but he will be 32 later this year, and maybe, now is the time while he's still worth something, especially if he's chomping for another deal. I also think big John will be perfect for us, and I don't think the Fuller situation had anything to do with this deal, TP wanted him anyway, and let's be honest, if Carew would have come into the Club this Summer, we'd have wet ourselves! Goaaarn Stoke!

Good Passer, clever Player, but no real pace means he won't play for a Top 4 side ever! You have to be the real deal to play for those Teams in midfield with no pace, and look good, like Paul Scholes. I'd have him here tho!

Everton are the ones for me! Established Prem Team, in the running for Cups, loads of credibility, and bouncing between upper and mid table! Forget this year, they will be mid table by the end of the season!

Because the ref will add time on to the added time, and there's no way for him to tell the supporters how much time he is adding on in addition to the amount stated. Thats fine but what i'm saying is when 4 mins go up with no clock you just don't know and it always seems a lot longer, when the reality is it isn't. If the ref adds more time on at least you'll know that you are now into that time and not still guessing if your still in the previous slot of added time. Absolutely Right Squeek! The Clock should carry on, and at least if they say a minimum of 4 mins, we can see when we go into the "Extra" extra Time! The old Scoreboard used to didn't it?

I think Wilson is one of the Building Blocks for next year onwards. I see this lad running the show, he does have everything but the maturity and a bit of confidence, and both these will come.
He has hit the best pass anyone has hit for Stoke this season, when he played Kenwynne in against Villa!
I think TP see's him as a long term Player at Stoke, and part of the "Spine" of the Team, hpefully with Ryan Huth & Bego!!

I think most of the Crowd had the same attitude. The number of times I heard people shouting, "Come On Stoke, this is Fookin Blackpool, Not Chelsea"
We need to remember that ALL Premier League Teams are capable of beating anyone on the day, this is how we have done so well in the last two seasons, when Clubs have underestimated us!

I Think Jarheads review is as well balanced as any I've seen, and that applies to ANY game this season.
Regarding Kenwynne, then I think he's like Rick in so many ways, when he looks like he doesn't care, but I think we need to get off his case a bit. To be completely fair, can anyone remember a decent cross from either of our Wingers? This is what Kenwynne thrives on, it's crosses when he can attack the goal, not always playing with his back to goal.
Anyway onwards, and upwards, lets get this out of our system ,and put it up Wengers Whingers next week.

Great Post! I started going in 1969, so was brought up through the "Golden Era" And yes, we did defend long and hard, we had Smithy, Bluto, Jack & Pej, or took absolutely NO prisoners! Then we brought Hudson in, Josh was already there, and Salmons followed soon after, suddenly we had a team who could play, and boy could we play! Not forgetting that we had that team of phyco's still in defence as minders!! Happy Days, No, they were GREAT days! This is the closest we have been to getting back to that stage since, we flirted with it in the early 80's, but it didn't feel like this, I firmly believe, there is a real chance of history repeating it'self, and this time, if the roof blows off the Seddon, then we won't have to sell the Team!

Maybe the Kenwyne Signing could be seen the same way? I would have laughed if someone had said we'd sign KJ, even last season, but this could be the catalyst for another golden age! If KJ goes onto to be the half the player Greenhoff was, I'll be pleased. I can still remember seeing the Paper when he had signed for UTD, and just not quite believing it! I even said (Now this is a confession) that I was a Utd fan now!! Only for about two days though!

He Did! Because Ossy had said something about him only scoring with Headers? What a day, because I think that was Big Johns Hat-Trick goal! I was spoiled a bit, because it was the late sixties, and early seventies when I started going Stoke, and I thought it was always like this! When they signed Shilton in 74, I was really giving it large to the other kids at School, they probably called me a "Glory Hunter" Enven though it's good to see us climbing back up the mountain nowadays, and even if we get to the very top, nothing will ever replace that thrill I got in those days! I can remember seeing the Pitch for the first time, and it just seemed like a massive dazzling green carpet, and you just get hooked don't you? Even through the shit times, you still love this club!

I was gutted when Osgood didn't come, because even though Hudson was a "Name", Ossy at that time was way more famous, but Huddy proved to be unbe-fookin-lievable! If I remember right, we dicked Southampton 4-0 just after he signed for em tho! I agree though, he could have been the missing link, between us winning the League in those Halcion days!
