I think he could be the answer to our CM crisis, he can pass a ball gets himself about and gets a tackle in. imo i dont see why he doesnt get played

wilson is a decent player, and with a decent run in the team would prove all his doubters wrong, hes proved he has it at pompey if he has a confident run in the side, hes miles better than delap.

He will play more games as season goes on and be a regular next season I think this guy is the real deal, Some on here thinks he is slow because he puts his foot on the ball and thinks what his best option is. I have a very good feeling about him

He can certainly pick out a pass - and he also finished well for his goal - two things we really do need in our midfiled. But he also takes too much time on the ball and gets caught in possession. I think he has potential and would like to see him given more match time to get up to speed with this league.

I think he showed enough in his festive cameos to be worth another run in the side.

I think the lad has got what it takes, he just needs people to give him a fair crack at the whip, he doesn't pass to any old fool he picks out the right pass and does so more than not.

Winge...Surely it is because Whitehead can run?
Wilson hasn't shown anything yet and the jury is very much out. He was dire on his debut, rubbish v Everton and Sunderland and excellent for 70 minutes v Manure, when partnered by Rory.
His only good game has come with Rory alongside him.
If Wilson is the answer, I am not really sure what the question is?

I think Wilson is one of the Building Blocks for next year onwards. I see this lad running the show, he does have everything but the maturity and a bit of confidence, and both these will come.
He has hit the best pass anyone has hit for Stoke this season, when he played Kenwynne in against Villa!
I think TP see's him as a long term Player at Stoke, and part of the "Spine" of the Team, hpefully with Ryan Huth & Bego!!

If KJ had put that in the net it would have been an absolute cracker.

What about the sublimely disguised pass that Rory played through to Fuller, whose subsequent effort was saved by the goalkeeper in a one on one situation?
Amazing how short peoples memory is or how they choose to see only what they want to see.

Personally I rate Rory and would like to see him and Wilson start some games (esp as Deano has been a bit off form lately).

apparantly he is going to be one of the best in the league next season according to davesviews sources.
Funny that int it, we have been shocking in midfield and he can't even get a game there this season.

JEN - I am well aware that this thread is about Wilson but Rory merits a mention as the thread develops because apparently the reason that Wilson isn't playing and adding his quality to our god awful side is because "Rory has a throw"!
On that basis it is perfectly valid to add comments about Rory to this on-going discussion.

I thought that Rory and Wilson have played together - but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, so I don't understand how Rory is keeping him out of the side. What dismays me is seeing Whelan coming on ahead of Wilson.

I have a very good feeling about him I've got a good feeling about Wilson too Kev. From the limited time i've seen him on the pitch, he's looked decent. His goal against Blackburn was top notch. He controlled the ball very well, considering the speed it came at him. And although he was very close to Robinson, placed it very well. There's been a fair few similar chances Dean Whitehead has had, and hasn't scored any of them.

My point exactly Jen. It isn't only Rory that is keeping Wilson out of the side. It is Whitehead as well.
Wilson has played alongside Rory once, v Manure, and it just so happens to have been his best game in a Stoke shirt to date.
When appearing in his other starts, v Villa, Everton and Sunderland, he was very poor in my opinion.

It would be great if Wilson became the player we all know our midfield desperately needs.
If I'm honest I still have more than a few doubts about whether he is that player but hopefully he will progress and show the necessary appetite and desire as well as the ability to pick a pass that our forward players are crying out for.
Here's hoping.

He needs to do a few things yet imo. He needs to get quicker in the mind and physically. He needs to learn how to tackle and cover the ground defensively. I would like to see him going to the centre halves more for the ball also. His passing is obviously good but he puts too much pressure on us with his defensive frailties. TP can coach that into him though, lets just hope he doesn't coach the good things out.

I think once he gets a bit quicker on the ball he'll be a cracking player imo, it will take a bit of time but will come, I wouldn't be surprised to see him start on Saturday.

I agree with Bayern pretty much.
His main issue is that he's been too slow on the ball leading to him to get robbed in possession in dangerous areas.
I think he'll get his chance to show what he can do in the cardiff game and hopefully he can prove himself and get himself a strong run of games in the first team.

Wilson should be automatic selection, Delap is dire and never was Premiership class. Can't pass, too defensive at the cost of central midfield and inefective throws have cost us the last two home games. Dreading the Everton game.
