At least I'm at work and can choose to watch it or not later.
Remember when we used to intimidate teams that came to the Brit?

Grant Edwards - Zouma - Shawcross - Tymon (Pieters) Cameron (Fletcher) - Allen Diouf - Shaqiri - Choupo (Sobhi) Berahino Cameron not available I was working on preferred line up going forward rather than the Liverpool game. At the start of the season I thought Fletcher looked a class act but he has tailed off and I think Cameron would break up play better. We would then be reliant on Allen to spread the ball around.

If we could have a test period in virtual reality this would be really interesting. My concern would be whether he would have the respect of some of more senior players.

Scary thing is, we lost to him 😡

23 years in the wilderness was enough.
There may have been some fun along the way but I don’t want us to go back. Anyone saying otherwise was either not there or fucking demented.
I don’t give a shit who is in charge for the remainder of the season. It’s time for supporters to do what they did in the first season. Get behind the team, intimidate the opposition, stay till the fucking end and make some noise.
The current management clearly has no ability to lift the team, it’s up to the supporters to give this team the confidence.

Phil Neville just made a comment that hit home.
“Teams reflect the personality of their manager”.
I normally think he talks absolute shit but on this one, he is spot on.

We have the centre forward we need and he is playing at Right wing back. Some harsh comments on here for a bloke who has a desperately ill kid. Stand by the player through his tough time and maybe he will appreciate it and we will see the best of him on the other side. There may be some harsh comments on this thread but mine are not harsh. You're making my point for me about Hughes use of centre forwards, I've championed Diouf as our best striker option for ages.......Hughes clearly doesn't agree however. I quoted you as you had made comment that there has been a failure to buy the right striker. I agree with you, I think we have that striker. He misses more than he should but always seems to get the chances which is a good sign for me. If he put all the chances away he would have 30 a season. The reference to harsh comments was in general and not directed towards you.

Good luck to him and his family. Hard to say how much his personal situation is affecting his play, I'd say. Some people respond to personal issues by throwing themselves into their work others can't get their heads straight so we have no right to make a judgment on that. None the less we still need a reliable goal scorer and Hughes and the transfer team are not delivering on this and haven't done so for way too long. We should never have been in the position of making another last minute loan signing to fill a yawning hole in our squad. Surely a lesson should have been learnt after Bony......a full year earlier. We have the centre forward we need and he is playing at Right wing back. Some harsh comments on here for a bloke who has a desperately ill kid. Stand by the player through his tough time and maybe he will appreciate it and we will see the best of him on the other side.

Please pass on thanks to your dad from everyone on this board. He is loved and respected. Great to see you have chosen us as your club. I will do that...I often show him threads off the Oatcake...as we’re always talking about Stoke,... as for choosing Stoke as my club ...it was not an option ...(not that I’d ever support any other club)..we were brought up on football...and Stoke City is my team ! Doesn’t matter where we are ...what division etc ( although I do like being in tthe prem)...I’d never support anyone else ...CTID . That goes for all the family ..call me a soppy beggar...but remember I am Stokie and proud to be ....Christ I’ll be sounding like Delia Smith in a minute ...I shall shut up now 😀 - I hope the threads give him pleasure. We left the UK when my daughter was 18 months old, she walked out on the pitch with Robert Huth first home game of the season against Spurs when Crouch handled the ball on the line to stop us getting the draw. I taught her the words to ‘we don’t carry hammers, we don’t carry lead’ in the bath when she was 4. She is now 16 and remembers it word for word. Her Canadian school is full of the usual suspects but she is proud to be Stoke.

Thanks for all your answers, particularly to Toxic Avenger. Two more questions. 5) At the height of hooliganism, how bad were Stoke's hooligans relative to other clubs? 6) When did Stoke start using Rory Delap's long throw as a weapon? Based on the media reports from the debut Premier League season, it seemed to have caught a lot of teams by surprise. Was it not used in the Championship, or not used effectively? - I saw a stat that said Stoke had more fans banned from football grounds by the FA than any other club in the country in the late 90's early 00's. - Delap had a big throw in the championship but he refined it with a flat trajectory in the Premier League. The pitch was made the bare minimum size by Pulis thereby cutting space down for opposing teams. Most players long throw could just about reach the front post with a looping action. Delap's could reach the back post accurately with speed and precision. They only ever needed a flick on and it was a goal. The fact that we boxed the keeper and got away with it for a long time also helped

Amusement/beer companion - Conte - Seems to be mad as a box of frogs. Bet he's hilarious after a few sherbets.
Football - Poch although his comment about about Stoke still being long ball in the last couple of years pissed me off.
Pep - any bloke who complains that his billion dollar team can't score with a ball made by Mitre should be fucking committed. I'd like to see what he could do at a smaller team without bags of money.
